Hey, I’m from Germany and actually I’m from Fritzlar. I always thought my city is boring and just like other small towns in Germany. It’s pretty funny how you looked up to Fritzlar
I have been to Germany a couple of times. First time I went to Koln and all the way down via Heidelberg to Freiburg. What a beautiful place. Next time I went to Berlin and then to Dresden where I stayed for my vacation. Fell in love with the city. One time a friend and me travelled with a camper to Rostock and Rugen, and then down to Prague in the Chech Republic, and from there to Munich. I was driving the whole way which was such an accomplishment as we drive on the left side in my country South Africa. Two years ago I went to Munich absolutely loved it. I love Germany, what a great country with fantastic people and good food
Just fyi: If you arrive at 10am, you're actually supposed to set your 'Parkscheibe' to 10:30. So you're technically allowed to park for more than 2h. Pretty neat.
Fairy tale seems to be a running theme with these vlogs...and rightfully so. It's a feast for the eyes, but you never get full. Charming, spectacular, cute, stunning...they all seem like crude understatements. Lovely music too
Flying The Nest, please do not turn it off! The next person to rent this car might not know that button and miss important traffic information! It's all about safety...

Two BIG adavntages of hiring a car and going to little towns is that you get to see REAL medieval towns (that weren't destroyed in the war like the major cities) AND, because they are so little, they aren't overrun by tourists like the mentioned cities. Though there are exeptions to this rule, the biggest exeption probably being Rothenburg ob der Tauber. ;-)
Hey guys. I just hit on your channel and couldn't quite believe you've been to Trendelburg, the village where I grew up. Hope you enjoyed your stay there.
Going on a roadtrip is our favourite way of travelling, too. We've been many times to the US and also discovered the beauty of France, Italy, the Netherlands, Irland and the UK by car. But we never been on a roadtrip in our own country (Germany). But as we are living right in the centre of Germany (Just an hour north of Fritzlar; in Göttingen) it is easy for us to visit nice places via daytrips. But someday we will drive the german coastline. That would be amazing. The towns in northern Germany are very special (Hanse) and all the many islands are just beautiful.
OMG, just realised that you guys have been to my hometown Fritzlar! can't believe I'm catching up on this video after a year! Crazy to see all those videos of you guys travelling all over the world and then seeing you in a little place like this! The world is so small!!

At 4:14 you're passing a shop calling itself "Neusehland", which translates to "New _see_ land". It looks like they're selling glasses or shades. 😃 The "Nussecke" you tried at the bakery translates to "nut corner", called thus because the dough contains both finely ground and chopped hazelnuts. Some bakeries dip all the edges in chocolate, like you experienced, and some dip the two sharp-angled corners instead. It's all good. 😋
Your videos are so much fun! So medieval people were probably shorter than we are. I guess the rooms were small because it's easier to keep a small room warm.
It’s so interesting when Australians or English speaking people visit our home in Germany 🇩🇪 ☺️. Awesome footage like always guys. (BTW it’s called “nussecke” but you had it almost 😚 if you come south to Munich or even more south feel free to dm us so we can be your tour guide through our home. 🥨 we visited Australia this year and it was such a good time. We also filmed a bit and made some vlogs. ☺️
First: welcome to Germany. It's nice to see, that you walk around with open eyes, heart and mouth. Each area of Germany has special regional meals, which I suggest to try. Nußecke=nutcorner It's a mixture of nuts, mostly hazelnuts, honey, flour, eggs and chocolate of course. That bakery you visit there has a really great selection of "Kaffeestückchen"(these are diverse kind of cookies(mostly sweet), which you eat mostly in the morning for breakfast or coffee break). My favorites are Nußecken and Granatsplitter(a mix of a lot of ingredients, which is unknown for me, it's very sweet). It exist a bunch of different recepts and you've to try a few bakeries to find your personal taste. Of you found it, you'll see, that it's an addicting "poison". Take a look on Google pictures for it, there you see different forms and ingredients. Have much fun at your journey. I will follow your great vids

The tiles are called Schindeln. Basically similar to what you see on the roofs, only on the roofs they are made of burned clay, those on the facades are usually made of Schiefer (slate)

The new Things you have seen at the Houses are called "Schindeln". Under these the houses are the same "Fachwerkhaus", how this buildings are called. These Schindeln was to protekt the "weather Side" of the House. Or if someone wants to Show off that he was ritch, then it was made to the "Public Side of View" of the House. Early they was made Out of Wood in some regions, later they was made Out of "Schiefer", which is a flat Stone. These lasts for over 100 years. Mine now just start to drop down at a storm, cuz after 100 years the nails are rusty, today they use chopper nails. Its pretty nice, since u never have to paint ur wals or use protect stuff for the wood parts of the house, cuz they ptotect the house from any Rain. Btw Ur vlogs are very nice to See, even for a "native German" 😊
So interesting to see! Btw, the blue parking cards are also used in Belgium and The Netherlands. I think other European countries also use them but I'm not sure

Hey, you were in my home region. You basically circled my hometown by going to Trendelburg, Fritzlar and the Edersee. It's always interesting to see some foreigner's point of view, how beautiful it is here to be reminded by that fact. To most of us living here, all you mention is so "common". Hope you are having a good time here. And next time you go to a bakery ask for some "Plunderteilchen"...they come in different shapes and tastes so be prepared to eat some more than just one ;)
I absolutely love these last two vlogs! I have been to Germany three times and never heard about these towns or the Fairy Tale Route. Thanks for sharing with us. (And p.s. Why do I always need to get a coffee before I watch one of your videos?!)
great stuff… Fritzlar is just half an hour to drive from my hometown. it's Kassel, where we have the Grimmwelt /Grimmworld Museum... the preview looks like an "Adventure" from Burg Waldeck to Edersee ;-)
Such a fun channel! So glad I discovered you guys! I hope you like Germany. It's a bummer that the weather right now is rather cool (which I personally enjoy), but it will get warmer after today. I hope you'll get the chance to see the north sea - the wadden sea, to be specific. That is truly a great place, to walk on the sea floor. But if you do, get a local because the coming flood can be pretty dangerous.
3:50 its the TA (Traffic announcement) wich can be activated or deactivated via the TA Button on the radio. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_announcement_(radio_data_systems) Today nearly everyone deactivates this service today, as the navigations system or navi apps get live traffic updates.
Welcome to my home area of northern Hesse, where I grew up 😁 It is nice to see people from other countries, who visit the countyside and not only the big major cities and "classical" german sightseeing spots I think, you guys don't have time, to make a loop way. But next time, when you are in Germany, you should visit Hameln (english Hamelin), the home of the pied piper tale. You will love the houses in the city center 😊 Have a great time
Sometimes i really forget how beautiful the country is i live in. Thx for reminding me of that.

It's always interesting to see some foreigner's point of view, how beautiful it is here to be reminded by that fact. To most of us living here, all you mention is so "common". Hope you are having a good time here.
And next time you go to a bakery ask for some "Plunderteilchen"...they come in different shapes and tastes so be prepared to eat some more than just one ;)
lm from turkey . Since 3 day lm watching Your wlogs you both wonderfull. Go on we are following.
unbelievable u guys been close to my hometown. haha.
I absolutely love these last two vlogs! I have been to Germany three times and never heard about these towns or the Fairy Tale Route. Thanks for sharing with us. (And p.s. Why do I always need to get a coffee before I watch one of your videos?!)
hahaha a coffee before watching is highly necessary!
What a fun video! Loved it!

In Germany there are many more Theme roads, for example the Castle Road, the romantic Road or the "Fachwerk" Road
great stuff… Fritzlar is just half an hour to drive from my hometown. it's Kassel, where we have the Grimmwelt /Grimmworld Museum... the preview looks like an "Adventure" from Burg Waldeck to Edersee ;-)
Nuss means nut and Ecke means edge. The literal translation of Nussecke would therefore be nutedge or nutcorner. 😄
Ahh that makes perfect sense !! Thank you :D
Actually, _Ecke_, though etymologically related to English “edge”, has the meaning of “corner”-hence the triangular shape.
We use those parking discs also in Finland :) So I guess they're also used on some other European countries too besides Finland and Germany!
Oh wow, so maybe they are a European thing then!!
Breathtaking scenes!-Keep it up.:-)
The traffic announcement thing happens in the UK too. There should be a setting where you can stop it from happening :)
I love how you guys put germany in such a beautiful perspective! German country side is way better than the cities ❤️
Aww the animals aree soooooooo cuteee❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😭😭😭
you can turn off the traffic announcement somehow.. look for a "TA" or "TP" button ;)
haha thanks!!
What a great road trip from a wonderful couple. So enjoyed your discoveries. BTW 100 K is not far away ! 😍😎👫
YAY thank you so so much guys :D
We've heard of this route, will need to add it to the list :-)
I like your hair, jess
Aww thanks Caitlin! Missing you
Your welcome. Miss you too!
nice video, cant wait for the new one in the castle...
The castle is incredible :) Excited for you to see the next video!
Aww so glad you found us too!!! We are LOVING our time in Germany :D
Guten Morgen Top video. 💪
3:50 its the TA (Traffic announcement) wich can be activated or deactivated via the TA Button on the radio.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_announcement_(radio_data_systems)
Today nearly everyone deactivates this service today, as the navigations system or navi apps get live traffic updates.
Welcome to my home area of northern Hesse, where I grew up 😁
It is nice to see people from other countries, who visit the countyside and not only the big major cities and "classical" german sightseeing spots
I think, you guys don't have time, to make a loop way. But next time, when you are in Germany, you should visit Hameln (english Hamelin), the home of the pied piper tale. You will love the houses in the city center 😊
Have a great time
Yes we couldn't make to the Hameln - next time!!!
