    as a german u just often forget how many beautiful places we have in this country. the good thing about vlogs like this one is that u get reminded of those places and that u shouldnt just take everything for granted. lovely vlog! hope u enjoy all of ur travels!

    Love that you're doing this trip and showing everyone the real Germany away from the big cities. When you come back to Germany make sure you visit the northern parts and the coasts and especially Helgoland. It's so different from what you've seen on this trip.

      Yes, we have barely explored the North! Still so much to see!!

      I second that! But stay away from Sylt!!! NOT worth your money. However, if you are looking for a secluded place with access to the train that can take you anywhere, let me know. I found the most awesome AirBnB!

    • @Ginkoman2
      @Ginkoman2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      well basically you have in germany 3 different regions, the north wich is more like the netherlands and denmark, and the south wich shares much with austria and switzerland. and then there is the middlepart of germany wich is more like the south then the the north but still different. and trough all regions the region on the rhine river is everywhere a little different.
      That of course is almost criminally over simplified but still it has some kind of truth to it :D

    • @fahqkthxbye
      @fahqkthxbye 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I might live in the 4th region, called "the tuscany of Germany". It's not really like Switzerland or Austria at all. It's more mediterrean. There's fig and almond trees growing, it's the hottest part of Germany as well with little rain throughout the year. It sounds so much more fun than it actually is though.

    Actually I am german, i don‘t really know how I got to your Videos, but I am enjoying every second of your Vlogs.
    You are both so nice people with a great natural, positive and sympathecic character.
    It is so nice to see you both enyoying your trip to germany and it is actually really interesting to see how you recognize typical german things which I take for granted.
    I wish you a great time here and all the best for your future! If you are near to the cities „Aachen“ or „Bocholt“ (In the Western Part of Germany) and you want to See some things, let me know.
    As you are already really good at speaking german I just say „Dankeschön“!

    Wie klein die Welt doch ist. In Schloss Waldeck haben meine Kollegen und ich die Zimmertüren eingebaut. Wenn man solche Bauwerke zu oft sieht, merkt man gar nicht mehr wie schön diese Region ist. Nordhessen ist einfach eine Augenweide

      You Tube hatte mir den Vlog empfohlen. Gerade die "Gondeln" kamen mir sehr bekannt vor. Erst da habe ich gelesen, das es Waldeck und der Edersee ist, wo ich 2005 mal übers Wochenende war. Schön zu sehen, wie es nun ausschaut und wie es andere erleben.

    Great you enjoyed this leg of your trip! :-)
    Really great vlog!
    Historical facts about the area:
    The cable car from the castle down to the lake is one of Germany's oldest gondolas that still run with their original design&material, built in 1961.
    The "Edersee" (or "Lake Eder/Eder Lake" in English) is actually a reservoir that was constructed in the early 20th century, named after the Eder river. In 1943 during WWII, the dam was bombed by the allies causing some massive damage in the area further downstream when the Eder valley was flooded.

    About the bread, normally in good German restaurants you do get bread with some kind of spread as an appetizer. Peanut butter is quite unusual though 😅
    Btw you are showing me sites of Germany, I didn't even know existed as a German 😂

  • @DJTooMass
    @DJTooMass 6 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    Oh you ain't seen nothin' yet. There's so much to explore around Edersee and the Waldeck region in general. Did you take a guided tour of the castle? Did you see the torture chamber? Or the 120m deep well? Were you at the dam? The treetop walk or simply the primeval forest (Unesco world nature heritage site) Kellerwald-Edersee.
    ...and that's just some of the things to explore right around Edersee. Go further and you find some more Castles like Bad Arolsen or even Schloss Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel with the Herkules and its water spectacle, some weird things like the crooked steeples from the churches of Korbach and especially Mengeringhausen.
    Long story short: you better come back again ;)

      Yes, indeed, I'm from Hanover. bit I've been living in the Cologne area for the past 19 years. I'm enjoying watching you discovering German mysteries like "Currywurst", "Ampelmännchen" and "Parkscheibe". However, peanut butter plus cheese must be a specialty of that restaurant or region; I had never heard of that combination. But anyway, cuisine in Germany is different from region to region, which makes it hard to speak of a "national German cuisine" - but which also makes it more interesting for ourselves as Germans as well.

    It's incredible beautiful! Always a pleasure to learn something new about my own country! :D
    Something I was wondering about when I was playing in my mind with the 'castle' word: I think you are missing one word. We in Germany we have two words for castle: Burg and Schloss. Both each with a different meaning. A Burg may be older, was mostly built for defensive reasons, it has thick and huge walls for protection, and is not that decorated, like a Schloss is. A Schloss was often the official and representative building for a monarch and so you see a lot of gold, huge ball rooms with huge paintings, ornamented ceilings. It's more comfortable.
    These differences are just of the top of my head... maybe there's more^^ . Greetings so far!

    I’m going to surprise my husby with cream cheese and peanut butter next time I go to the market. He loves peanut butter it’s his main treat since he has diabetes a little. Can’t wait to try!,
