Food labeling does need to be addresses, not just because one has the right to know what is going into one's body, but for reasons relating to food intolerances and allergies.

Well.. why not remove the restrictions on the Tobacco industry? Remember, it's all about choice and I want my kids to exercise their freedom under a democracy to smoke or not.
    NOT.

Not really actually. The average price for a meal would be less, yes, but the ingredients themselves would be much more expensive. The money saved comes from being able to prepare multiple meals from the same ingredients before they run out. It costs about $3-5 for just a bag of carrots here. I happen to be lucky enough to have a yard can grow a garden, but most others don't have that luxury. I usually advise them to try growing some food plants in pots indoors.

Food manufacturers will NEVER be investigated

it's also what is in the fast food...fresh fruits and veggies naturally make you feel full but things with added sugar and sodium send signals to your brain telling you that you need to eat more and more to feel full...it is the business of eating to create a sense of hunger vs eating for health.

I'd never really heard about the politics that are keeping the food industry growing...it was...disgusting. It costs $3 for organic carrots (I get sick from non-organic), but only $1 for a cheeseburger. Why? Meat used to be a luxury food, but now it's just cheap junk, with fruits and veggies being much more expensive. I want to eat healthy, I want to be healthy, but frankly, it's too expensive. If only we could get more funding for real food...

If you are so big on being anti-regulation I suggest you take one for the team from now on and keep driving on red light whenever that "inconvenient" regulation presents itself. Then come back and tell us how free it is.

Come to Washington state, weed is legal! :D But a couple of the things outlawed are pretty much just for health and safety reasons, like raw milk. It's relatively easy for people to get sick from drinking it, so milk is pasturized to kill off bacteria that might make people ill

We are charged much more but it also keeps more of us healthier. The difference is our taxes pay for health care and so it is in the interest of our government to prevent disease to an extent.

There is so much more to this than meets the eye. Americans are woefully uneducated when it comes to nutrition. Highly processed, low nutritious food is often the cheapest. Time constraints often result in grab-n-go meals for all age groups. It also contributes to a sedentary lifestyle when living, work and school are too far to walk or there are no sidewalks or traffic lights or crossings. Obesity is not going to be solved by better labeling. The whole spectrum of causes needs to be addressed.

actually it is cheap to eat healthy. there are just more fast food joints and convenient stores in poor areas and less natural food stores and farmers markets.

You clearly don't live in a town where over half the population is unemployed. Many can't afford to eat somewhere or something better. We know it's bad for us, but there aren't easily available alternatives

Anyone and everyone who has ever been to the US comes back saying the same thing, The food is crap. All processed rubbish. But they know what is good for them and what isnt.
What is cheap today will cost a fortune tomorrow.

Couldn't people just buy things from the supermarket and make something healthy? It's pretty easy to whip up something for less than the cost of McDonalds.

  • @knoose
    @knoose 11 ปีที่แล้ว

Buying lunch meat and bread is cheaper so that argument is false.
Americans are not overweight because of fast food...its the indulgence culture, in reality most are eating just too much good food. Its an entertainment, happy family and friends type culture.

It isn't that hard not to eat junk food. I didn't blame anyone but myself when I was 50 pounds over weight.

0:52 the answer right there. They want to keep junk food cheap and addictive. It will help keep us fat, dumb and slow

    You just dont get it.
    Fast food is the cliche.
    Packaged food, yes more.
But in general the middle class etc eats just too well of good quality.

  • @knoose

    They have everything.
Its the outside countries that only have a selection, mostly american media and entertainment.

  • @MsColdCanada

I can and I do but that's because I budget the money to buy a nice roast to cook and then freeze portions for lunches. It takes a much higher lump sum of money to plan this. Also the price of freezer bags is far too high. In the long run it is healthier and less costly but it takes a thicker wallet upfront than buying something off a dollar menu. Unless you make it a regular habit to offer interest free payday loans to people eating at fast food chains your griping without helping.

Why do they always show McDonalds???
NO ONE EATS THERE...the world just knows about it because American business is woven into teh world.
Americans are overweight because of teh abundance of entertainment and love are party and indulgence.
Not because they eat nasty food. In fact its the opposite, they are eating just too much good food and drink.
