    It is actually on Mynedd Baiden where a battle was fought against the Saxons in the late 5th Century, there are Three Celtic ( British) Hillforts Two Roman Forts and British Entrenchments. Bodvoc Stone is actually old written Cymric meaning Buddug Victory. The Original is in the Margam stones Museum.

    I used to walk around the area and forestry when I was a child and into my twenties with friends and family. There used to be a public log cabin up near the quarry area until it was demolished in the nineties. The deer roam around the area and the old opencast site nearby, I believe the deer are originally from Margam park. Also just up from the entrance is the original carpark, and nearby is remnants of the the old mine and buildings, the mine entrance is bricked up but you can see the water coming out and the orange sediment on the stream bed still present from its industrial past.

      Thanks for the detailed info. I'll take a look for the old mine remains on my next trip up there.

    Hi Marcus, this seems to be one of the best countryside walks that you have done, yes, its in the trees ,yes, there's not many views, but it so green! I noticed the top part of your walk is very near the Ogwr Ridgeway Walk, looks like another one for you to do?
    Craig yr Aber very odd it means Rock of the mouth/estuary, where is the Rock?

    • @marcuswalks
      @marcuswalks  ปีที่แล้ว

      The rock could refer to the outcrops around 5:34

    Funny enough our friends told us about this on Sunday. I found this vlog while searching for walks in the area. We have a friend visiting this week and we’ll take him on this walk on Wednesday. Thx for this very enjoyable and concise vlog 👏

    A nice peaceful scenic walk. Apart from the chain saws and pesky flies.

    Another enjoyable video. I have done this one twice but stopped at the top and did not go on to Cwm Kenfig. (I crossed the open cast to get there, it's my excuse anyway). It can be quite steep in parts getting up there (not surprised you were panting) but at least the paths are good. I have not seen any deer there but as Nigel mentions they are in the opencast and we even get them up in the fields just below Cefn Cribwr occasionally. Lovely walk and nice environment if you like this type of forest walk. Keep up the good work, I am really enjoying this channel.

    I walk here with the dog on occasion, and I'm very aware of the horse flies of late summer! Insect repellent is a must

      The flies weren't there last week. They must have been waiting for me this time. For some reason they were more attracted to the camera than me, everyone wants to be a star these days.
