  • Where will this winter’s walk take me - west to Sker and Kenfig, east to Newton or north, across the fields to South Cornelly.
On this walk, apart from the starting point, I did not have a plan for my route.
The walk finally took me from Nottage Porthcawl to South Cornelly and the South Cornelly Quarries. Then to Stormy Down and the old RAF Stormy Down airfield. It was then down the hill to the main road into Porthcawl and back to Nottage Village.
The total distance was about 6 miles.

Marcus. I used to go to Porthcawl to stay with my Grandma in early fifties. I think the Quarry you are talking about did some blasting and a Stone smashed through the roof of the bungalow of my Grandma a few years earlier. The bungalow was between Newton and Nottage, It was a long way from the Quarry.

Another great walk. Loved the fact that you had no plan. I had never heard of the Stormy Down memorial, so you have added yet another place to my list of places to visit. With spring on the way (even though it does not feel like it yet) I am looking forward to more "Marcus Walks". Well done.

Hello from the States. Enjoy your walk videos. You have no idea how much I want to do these walks someday. I would like to do many walks throughout Great Britain and Ireland I also enjoy Tony Robinson’s walking thru history. Stay safe, be well and keep walking.

Strange that you made no mention of the garish memorial grave to the pioneer of the 1980s New Romantic movement, Steve Strange.
