Is that the same 'professional' SEC that 'cheaped out' on using the correct blocks that meant Christopher Morales-Williams's 44.49 WR @SEC Indoors couldn't be ratified?!
Big subject matter, but let’s look at XC Rosters first. Why would a sport that only has 5 runners score at a meet need a roster in 20+ runners. This isn’t just SEC - Distance head counts seem inflated all across NCAA. Talent getting dispersed and not stockpiled might actually be a good thing.
Typically in XC your top 7 is more or less like your starting unit. We could argue 5 because they score. Almost every sport allows 3 athletes per position on a depth chart. So by that math an XC roster should be 15 to 21 runners. The proposed limit was 17 before… But 10 is very hard for any nationally competitive program to imagine up until now. In fact no sport in the ncaa with at least 5 starters competing has a roster size of only 10. So this would be unprecedented by all measures for XC

Btw, I love the sport I sat down and watched ESPN+ this weekend and logged 5 separate conference meets.
