Someone discovers a good, quick, easy way to earn credits. War "coincidentally" breaks out in the system in question shortly after the knowledge is made public, drastically slowing down / ruining the method. Who would have guessed?
40 Mil/hr Sothis Ceos passenger missions, go to new dawn in the ceos system and fill all your passenger cabins with rich tourists looking to go to Sirius atmospherics, make sure not to accept any passengers paying less than 1 million credits, head over to Sothis 5A and drop into Sirius atmospherics, scan the beacon and head back to new dawn station, receive payment. This whole trip takes 15 minutes roughly and depending on the number of cabins in your ship you can earn around 10 million per trip. (You may have to board flip a few times to get all 1mil + passengers) Another thing is if you don't want the cash these are a great source of G4/5 mats

1) Get a T6, fit with a 4A power plant and 4D FSD. 2) Minimum shields (I think it was a 3A). 3) Fill the rest with E rated cargo holds, but keep SCA and docking computer. 4) Run Meta-Alloys from Merchiston Works in Kalads to Darnelles Progress in Maia. 4b) Eventually you'll get a surprise, just run, trust me. 5) You'll make enough in 2 hours to upgrade to a T7 and outfit it. 6) Repeat 1-3, except 5A powerplant, 5A FSD. 7) Use "Trade Routes" on inara to find what pays the most, do those runs. 8) Make about 62 million per hour. 9) Upgrade to T9, you should know what your doing on upgrades at this point. 10) Repeat 7 11) Make about 85 million per hour. Engineering your FSD can raise #11 to about 120 million per hour. You can engineer the FSDs of the previous ships, but it's a waste of resources, save them for the T9. You'll have 8-10 jumps to make and a couple dockings for each payout. There's nothing you can't get done in the game pulling in 120m per hour. The reason my way gets 20 million more is because the T9 can carry more than the Cutter, and it's cheaper. This way is faster and requires the least amount of effort to get rolling in credits. Literally by the end, BUY-UNDOCK-JUMP 5 TIMES-SC-DOCK-SELL-REFUEL-UNDOCK-JUMP 3 TIMES-SC-DOCK, repeat. Oh and don't be afraid to give up a few thousand profit per ton to find orbitals close to the star. Reducing travel times in SC can increase profits because you are making 4 runs per hour instead of 3. Not hard to turn 120m per hour to 150m per hour.

Actually, hauling 500-700 tons of MAs is risky. Considering they're worth like 115k each? That's like 70mill right there. You'll have a big bullseye painted on your hull and trust me, you'll get interdicted. Sometimes you'll even have two pirates on your butt, and if you can't escape you're pretty much toast if you have a crappy 4A shield. If you die, you fail the mission and takes a big rep hit with that faction, along with the fine and your insurance cost. So, with great risks comes great rewards. This is not an exploit. Besides, those missions are really rare as well. Still, there are probably Commanders who disagrees. *Cough* Cosmo *Cough* :P
this is still very much active, even seen a few 50mil ones too, its my go to place when i want to top up the wallet. what i will say is that you dont have to be elite, neither be allied, works from the first time you arrive. Top tip is donate to the cause, meta allow missions come as follow on missions quite a lot. They are still rare mission though so dont expect them every time your there

I did over 2billions in passenger missions, nearly killed myself of boredom. Yes, I had money for rebuys and increase my fleet but actually the game felt a bit empty after that. Now I'm back to a position where losing a ship hurts, and that makes the game fun again. In conclussion, be aware of making quick cash, you might get bored and kill the game. Find a player group, make money and have fun together. It's worth it..
You unlocked all the engineers, did your power play to get the "cool" modules and you're bored? Or did you just think money was the point to everything? If so, I hope you don't win the lottery! That could be a disappointment.
Not sure yet, but just got most of the factions Allied. Merope Expeditionary Fleet offered 42 Meta-Alloys for 747k. Nerfed already?, gonna keep checking. System is currently in Boom, M.E.Fleet are at War. Which may still be affecting it.
Back when quince was paying tons of credits i was busy farming for the corvette spent about 2 weeks off and on farming made 5 ranks. Come back later all methods that do work are not in the currect state and i make 7 ranks in 4 days due to rank changes. I made all the wrong choices apperently.

The video was a bit convoluted and the title is very clickbaity, since you go on to explain that a lot of it is RNG and luck. Which is usually the case. But then these money making ones often are. I don't often make negative comments, but this seems like a thinly veiled view grab. And all you're going to do is disappoint more people than you think you're going to inform, when they get there and find themselves not making anywhere close to the amount you arbitrarily put in the title. As I said, you could have just said the Meta Alloys missions pay a lot. There was no need to try and make it into this "method" which was basically just teaching people how to trade, and board flip. I like a lot of content you put out but I must admit I lose a lot of respect for you when you make videos like this. They're rather disingenuous. And packaged in such a way that if someone from FDev saw them, they'd be more likely to hover their finger over the "Nerf" button, because they're made to seem like playing the system.

agree with op. I do have to note that it seems like every update is making it harder and harder for elite dangerous youtubers to stay relevant and make good videos and get some money for it. The ones that do more than just let you watch gameplay are slowly disappearing and uploading less. And the ones that still upload good original elite content are or have gone into videos that are already everywhere on youtube just cuz they havent done them before and theres nothing left. And because the ones with the best content usually do this as a job and not as just a way to make a couple dollars they knnow that a video under 10 minutes isnt worth doing. So they do a un original video on something that a random dude posted a while back in a 2 minute video and they drag it along for 10 minutes. Kinda feel bad for them and will watch a video on something ive seen but get annoyed when 3 minutes is just promising new videos on original content sometime in the future and then asking for subscriptions 3 times. Traszadar more of the point is it sucks when good youtubers very obviously stretch out information. It's a thinly veiled attempt to use pre existing fan base he knows will watch the whole video and will watch 3 minutes of him begging for subscribers. And be deserves more subscribers but I doubt anyone not already sibscribed made it to the end. So yeah good content creators are held to a higher standard but they should be. I've watched all his other videos and some are pretty long but now I'm definitely going to start skimming them first to see if there's anything of interest. I would've been fine with this video if it was half as long or five minutes was dedicated to any sort of attempt to add content or entertainment
so...4 factions in war and have the same pending state : boom and bust with an extra famine for one and an extra expansion for an other. I'm pretty sure the boom on each 4 factions is due to players doing cargo missions, but the bust? I'm pretty sure FDevs placed those pending states here to make the mission block last longer, while they're making a patch. The bust is the exact opposite of the boom, you can't have both at the same time. If the faction is going to be in boom therefore there's no reason for it to be in bust (and vice-versa). This or the background sim is a bit weirdly done.
Can you please make a video how and where to rank up Imperial Rank as soon as possible. Im rear admiral in Federation (thx to CeosSothi) but my next step is to get better ranks with Imperials, but i dont know where to do this best. Also is it possible to buy this ship (Cutter?) with a 15% DC? And is Imp Cutter the best Cargo Ship, if choosing between Anaconda and Fed Corvette? Thanks, subbed the channel. =)
To get trade rank faster is it better to accept only high rank missions (higher than your own) or higher paying ones? So far it's being quite slow following this tip but it might have to do with Darnielle's Hope being under civil unrest and the amount of missions a bit lacking.
As of 05/10/18 the Meta Alloy missions are officially over. I was getting them 2 days ago, but yesterday & today I've gotten nothing. Not even a low paying one. The best mission I've gotten is $7 million to deliver 120 gold to pleione & that was only one mission after board hopping for an hour.. Clearly, FD has no clue how to treat its players.
Great video... but .... I went there, I should have checked using the map first, but they are in a state of war down there in Maia, so these missions are not available until back in recovering or boom states.
I’ve made as much as 196M in an hour core mining Void opals... never less than 45M/hr. Can be boring if not lucky, but always profitable and safe.... as long as you prepare for and have an escape plan for interdictions on your way to a “Best sell” market. INARA is your invaluable friend!
No, the system was at war so there were mostly massacre missions and few and scarce courier ones. Took the time to build up my rep with all the local factions doing these courier ones and will go back to re-test it once the war is over.
Hmm i don't think this should be nerfed. Based on the games lore the payouts increase with the average price of the commodity you deliver. When i hauled 120 tons of beer you get about 1 mil cr. For 120 tons of coffee however you can get between 3,5 and 4 mil. I make trade runs in kamadhenu and it's not THAT much but still about 25 mil/hour.
xjagat33x ff it should most likely be nerfed... not because it’s OP or make too much, but they are paying you more that the total value of the cargo that you are hauling... that seems broken, solution should be to increase value of the meta-alloys to atleast 350k a pop, for this mission to not be an act of charity from the station, actually they are giving you 20mil no questions asked, aka. Broken... :(
100 Mil/Hour, G5 Materials and fast trade rank.. but HOLD ON.. first you need like a couple of millions for a decent ship. Then you need a decent standing with the faction, then you need a certain trade rank... BUT THEN! lol
Just grab a Type-6 and do some cargo missions until you get a Type-7 (300T cargo max) and you can run two of the meta-alloys missions and get 100mil per run.
I hope this works. Right now the "best" i can do is 4-7million Cr. by playing 1-2 hour passenger missions in my Orca. Most likely 800ly or something in that range.
Like many other I think FDEV have pulled a stealth nerf. I was getting the mission just fine, but after Saturday evening they are completely gone. Not even 1 in 2 days of trying.
Just a heads up, the boards are full of massacre missions at the moment due to 4 factions being in a state of war. The other faction is a pirate one and there are just 2 factions that are in boom so pickings are slim right now.
You forgot to add in the time board flipping and doing select station loops when the meta's don't spawn. 20 mins a loop if everything goes perfectly. Ideally, in this scenario, the average joe would make more like 1-10m an hour. Between board RNG, board flipping, a mid trade rank, and the players ship. 100m/hr if you have a trade spec Cutter, Elite trade rank and maxed out influence at the station with good board RNG. I know this particular method at this station is potentially out date, but the principal of LHT is nothing new to Elite.
Tried it... either they nerfed it or im doing something wrong.. dedicated hours yesterday to get allied with the local factions and spend lots in donations and my trade rank is ofc elite.. but still.. nothing
Mission drops are not guaranteed to come wen fully allied with the factions there, and actually you are few may be a month or two late announcing this considering that many regulars on your discord have been doing those missions .... just saying !
Forget it, if your not elitetrader. i just made 5 runs in my type 7 288t of goods+ some boomdata delivery, and only got from 36% to 37% in traderank (broker btw) so its gonna take forever, and there´s no real reason to do it here then. Not worth the time. Only the rich get richer here.
Well, got killed as soon as I've entered the system. Paid insurance to get Type-9 back. Got to the station safely this time, just to find out there are no missions at this time. Now I'm kind of stuck, there is no shipyard to transfer to the station, so I had to fly to the system/station with shipyard and transfer my dolphin, so I can do anything here. Do you know if those missions going to be back soon? Right now I'm down about 110 mil. for buying and outfitting Type-9 (plus about 5 mil. for the insurance). My luck :)
As you saw... just 120t per 35 million credits mission... hm.. even a T7 could handle a single mission.. of course.. maybe you're lucky and get five...

This method has been highly unreliable at least for me. Think the best i got was one run with 40Mil, and most of the time there were no good trade missions avaliable. I've gone back to passenger missions as they are more consistently rewarding.
I`ve been able to get a couple of missions. They pay between 4 to 9 mil credits fully ally tycoon rank. So I guess unless you`re elite it`s pretty much a waste of time considering you have to be really lucky to get one in 20 min. And then it only adds 1% towards your elite rank, if you`re tycoon like me. I`m at 5% rank right now so I need a lot of lucky runs...oh, well, tnx anyway, I had to try it.
beginning to think this might have been nerfed. had no issue getting the meta missions last night but an hr and a half in and I'm barely getting any delivery missions and no meta missions .
joshua neill I'm not 100% sure as Im still newish to the game but I believe it's some think to do with the missions there and doing the combat zones and picking a side both will lose u rep if your not careful. But like I said I'm not 100% sure also I'm doing medb passenger runs just started them today and I'm making around 35 to 80 mill an hour on low rep with them as only just started
This no longer works, came here a few days ago in my cutter, picked up a 39 million mission straight away, half hour later got another 50 million so ran that route with a few minor missions and haven't seen a single decent mission over 5 million ever since, 3 days here now and nothing but massacre missions in conflict zones and the odd trade run or data mission for peanuts, that didn't take long to vanish on us.... :/

so the first requirement in using this method to boost your trade rank is to have elite trade rank? also there are no transport missions available for me to take. my trade rank is merchant
Haha so total failure of ingame logic... 120 units of meta-alloys with a value of 113k sold a higest possible price amounting to a total cargo value of 13.56mil, to transport them they will pay you 34mil! ED economy is waaaay out of wack 😂😂😂
Paul Berger well the solution to that is a fine large enough to counteract the loss of the goods. That however would be a hefty one, so a cargo mission becomes hard to balance without adding an insurance feature on ferryed cargo. Or the goods could be illegal to transport to the location, so there is more skill involved justifying the higher payouts.
Lockdowns happen because a group of players are stuffing around with the bgs to cause a lockdown to stop players from getting missions. One method of removing a lockdown is bounty hunting . This time it's not FDEV. almost every faction have been put into either war or election. Not sure if this is done deliberately by someone or or if it is accidental
This is dead. Stay away. Stealth nerfed or a temporary fluke. Payouts have been reduced and the frequency of meta alloy missions is infrequent at best.

The important factions have been at war for more than a week now. I would say FD has frozen the faction status in Maia until they bring a nerve.

I don't particularly need anything. Certainly not something like this. I don't like people being given the wrong impression, though, just for the sake of views. Being led to believe something that in their case may well not be true.
agree with op. I do have to note that it seems like every update is making it harder and harder for elite dangerous youtubers to stay relevant and make good videos and get some money for it. The ones that do more than just let you watch gameplay are slowly disappearing and uploading less. And the ones that still upload good original elite content are or have gone into videos that are already everywhere on youtube just cuz they havent done them before and theres nothing left. And because the ones with the best content usually do this as a job and not as just a way to make a couple dollars they knnow that a video under 10 minutes isnt worth doing. So they do a un original video on something that a random dude posted a while back in a 2 minute video and they drag it along for 10 minutes. Kinda feel bad for them and will watch a video on something ive seen but get annoyed when 3 minutes is just promising new videos on original content sometime in the future and then asking for subscriptions 3 times. If by some crazy chain of events orbitalant stops coming up with original interesting content and decides to do videos like this in the way this video was done then I am done with elite

Traszadar more of the point is it sucks when good youtubers very obviously stretch out information. It's a thinly veiled attempt to use pre existing fan base he knows will watch the whole video and will watch 3 minutes of him begging for subscribers. And be deserves more subscribers but I doubt anyone not already sibscribed made it to the end. So yeah good content creators are held to a higher standard but they should be. I've watched all his other videos and some are pretty long but now I'm definitely going to start skimming them first to see if there's anything of interest. I would've been fine with this video if it was half as long or five minutes was dedicated to any sort of attempt to add content or entertainment
so...4 factions in war and have the same pending state : boom and bust with an extra famine for one and an extra expansion for an other.
I'm pretty sure the boom on each 4 factions is due to players doing cargo missions, but the bust? I'm pretty sure FDevs placed those pending states here to make the mission block last longer, while they're making a patch.
The bust is the exact opposite of the boom, you can't have both at the same time. If the faction is going to be in boom therefore there's no reason for it to be in bust (and vice-versa).
This or the background sim is a bit weirdly done.
Can you please make a video how and where to rank up Imperial Rank as soon as possible. Im rear admiral in Federation (thx to CeosSothi) but my next step is to get better ranks with Imperials, but i dont know where to do this best. Also is it possible to buy this ship (Cutter?) with a 15% DC? And is Imp Cutter the best Cargo Ship, if choosing between Anaconda and Fed Corvette? Thanks, subbed the channel. =)
To get trade rank faster is it better to accept only high rank missions (higher than your own) or higher paying ones? So far it's being quite slow following this tip but it might have to do with Darnielle's Hope being under civil unrest and the amount of missions a bit lacking.

As of 05/10/18 the Meta Alloy missions are officially over. I was getting them 2 days ago, but yesterday & today I've gotten nothing. Not even a low paying one. The best mission I've gotten is $7 million to deliver 120 gold to pleione & that was only one mission after board hopping for an hour.. Clearly, FD has no clue how to treat its players.
Great video... but .... I went there, I should have checked using the map first, but they are in a state of war down there in Maia, so these missions are not available until back in recovering or boom states.

I’ve made as much as 196M in an hour core mining Void opals... never less than 45M/hr. Can be boring if not lucky, but always profitable and safe.... as long as you prepare for and have an escape plan for interdictions on your way to a “Best sell” market. INARA is your invaluable friend!

No, the system was at war so there were mostly massacre missions and few and scarce courier ones. Took the time to build up my rep with all the local factions doing these courier ones and will go back to re-test it once the war is over.
Hmm i don't think this should be nerfed. Based on the games lore the payouts increase with the average price of the commodity you deliver. When i hauled 120 tons of beer you get about 1 mil cr.
For 120 tons of coffee however you can get between 3,5 and 4 mil.
I make trade runs in kamadhenu and it's not THAT much but still about 25 mil/hour.
xjagat33x ff it should most likely be nerfed... not because it’s OP or make too much, but they are paying you more that the total value of the cargo that you are hauling... that seems broken, solution should be to increase value of the meta-alloys to atleast 350k a pop, for this mission to not be an act of charity from the station, actually they are giving you 20mil no questions asked, aka. Broken... :(
Try imperial slaves and you'll make 80 mil.
Already fixed in 3.3 The system is in a Civil war state. There are no delivery missions at all.

100 Mil/Hour, G5 Materials and fast trade rank.. but HOLD ON.. first you need like a couple of millions for a decent ship. Then you need a decent standing with the faction, then you need a certain trade rank... BUT THEN! lol
Just grab a Type-6 and do some cargo missions until you get a Type-7 (300T cargo max) and you can run two of the meta-alloys missions and get 100mil per run.
I am curious... if I head down there, could I be interdicted by Thargoids?

Right now the "best" i can do is 4-7million Cr. by playing 1-2 hour passenger missions in my Orca.
Most likely 800ly or something in that range.
Like many other I think FDEV have pulled a stealth nerf. I was getting the mission just fine, but after Saturday evening they are completely gone. Not even 1 in 2 days of trying.

Just a heads up, the boards are full of massacre missions at the moment due to 4 factions being in a state of war. The other faction is a pirate one and there are just 2 factions that are in boom so pickings are slim right now.

You forgot to add in the time board flipping and doing select station loops when the meta's don't spawn. 20 mins a loop if everything goes perfectly. Ideally, in this scenario, the average joe would make more like 1-10m an hour. Between board RNG, board flipping, a mid trade rank, and the players ship. 100m/hr if you have a trade spec Cutter, Elite trade rank and maxed out influence at the station with good board RNG.
I know this particular method at this station is potentially out date, but the principal of LHT is nothing new to Elite.
Boards flip every 10 minutes in game. The video was published before the board flipping nerf.

Mission drops are not guaranteed to come wen fully allied with the factions there, and actually you are few may be a month or two late announcing this considering that many regulars on your discord have been doing those missions .... just saying !
There is significant danger of dying of old age before these missions pop up ;)
Forget it, if your not elitetrader. i just made 5 runs in my type 7 288t of goods+ some boomdata delivery, and only got from 36% to 37% in traderank (broker btw) so its gonna take forever, and there´s no real reason to do it here then.

Well, got killed as soon as I've entered the system. Paid insurance to get Type-9 back. Got to the station safely this time, just to find out there are no missions at this time. Now I'm kind of stuck, there is no shipyard to transfer to the station, so I had to fly to the system/station with shipyard and transfer my dolphin, so I can do anything here. Do you know if those missions going to be back soon? Right now I'm down about 110 mil. for buying and outfitting Type-9 (plus about 5 mil. for the insurance). My luck :)
As you saw... just 120t per 35 million credits mission... hm.. even a T7 could handle a single mission.. of course.. maybe you're lucky and get five...

This method has been highly unreliable at least for me. Think the best i got was one run with 40Mil, and most of the time there were no good trade missions avaliable. I've gone back to passenger missions as they are more consistently rewarding.
I`ve been able to get a couple of missions. They pay between 4 to 9 mil credits fully ally tycoon rank. So I guess unless you`re elite it`s pretty much a waste of time considering you have to be really lucky to get one in 20 min. And then it only adds 1% towards your elite rank, if you`re tycoon like me. I`m at 5% rank right now so I need a lot of lucky runs...oh, well, tnx anyway, I had to try it.

beginning to think this might have been nerfed. had no issue getting the meta missions last night but an hr and a half in and I'm barely getting any delivery missions and no meta missions .

joshua neill I'm not 100% sure as Im still newish to the game but I believe it's some think to do with the missions there and doing the combat zones and picking a side both will lose u rep if your not careful. But like I said I'm not 100% sure also I'm doing medb passenger runs just started them today and I'm making around 35 to 80 mill an hour on low rep with them as only just started
This no longer works, came here a few days ago in my cutter, picked up a 39 million mission straight away, half hour later got another 50 million so ran that route with a few minor missions and haven't seen a single decent mission over 5 million ever since, 3 days here now and nothing but massacre missions in conflict zones and the odd trade run or data mission for peanuts, that didn't take long to vanish on us.... :/

Very hard to grind up the rep at this station..
so the first requirement in using this method to boost your trade rank is to have elite trade rank? also there are no transport missions available for me to take. my trade rank is merchant

Haha so total failure of ingame logic... 120 units of meta-alloys with a value of 113k sold a higest possible price amounting to a total cargo value of 13.56mil, to transport them they will pay you 34mil!

Paul Berger well the solution to that is a fine large enough to counteract the loss of the goods.
That however would be a hefty one, so a cargo mission becomes hard to balance without adding an insurance feature on ferryed cargo.
Or the goods could be illegal to transport to the location, so there is more skill involved justifying the higher payouts.

Looks like they're nerfing Darwin Research passenger missions (system's now on lockdown). Hope they don't nerf this too soon... need more credits. :)
Lockdowns happen because a group of players are stuffing around with the bgs to cause a lockdown to stop players from getting missions. One method of removing a lockdown is bounty hunting . There is a thread to this in the forums here

you can. but you they are rare so some time you might not get any for very long time. that way i recommend doing like shows. so that you at least make a few credits while waiting for the missions to spawn.

Care FDEVs are nerfing all the the misions. Soon we only can fly and nothing more. Don´t fly a lot or the nerf the ships too.
This time it's not FDEV. almost every faction have been put into either war or election. Not sure if this is done deliberately by someone or or if it is accidental
This is dead. Stay away. Stealth nerfed or a temporary fluke. Payouts have been reduced and the frequency of meta alloy missions is infrequent at best.
