My heart warmed up when you showed that vallejo US Olive Drab 70.889. That was the first paint i ever had as a kid, and over a decade later, i still have it! And its one of my go-to paints for details
Didn't paint for years but used this technique for painting poisenous looking green/blueish skin and it worked perfect, even with the vallejo base colors, thanks :)
I simply cant say enough how brilliant these videos are. Keep them coming. They are great for a person like me, who in my own humble opinion is a good painter but wants to learn new recipes and add to my skillset, but at the same time want to actually paint an army and not go for a Golden Demon. Hope that makes sense. Like you fill the perfect spot between Warhammer TVs introductionary style and the professional level. Just simply brilliant. Your production, sound quality, voice over work... it all just is A+.
Loved this Vid. I find bone and cloth the hardest to paint especially light colours. This explained the bone really well. I would love to see how you paint the cloth. Skeleton Warriors have always been a favourite of mine. Love the undead armies.
Very interested in a continuation of this series! Zombie flesh is an obvious choice, but I'd also love to hear your take on things things like rotting/old wood or fabric. Ps: universe felt out of balance for a few minutes there. Thought you weren't even going to bring out the enamels!
I will gladly watch all your future videos, but some more on soulblight gravelords would be cool. Definetely cloth, wood and so on. I hope youre planning on vids for the vampire lords too
Great video as usual Henry, everytime I watch a video from you guys I’m tempted to start a new army - working through the Eltharion vids at the moment and the Lumineth are calling to me. Have you got a quick recipe for a brighter, white bone? I’m doing your dark Indomitus bases and like popping a skull on them as a point of interest for a simple but effective base
just starting to paint by hand never done this style of painting before , which brushes & sizes should I start with please Going to spend a few days watching the complete collection you have done please keep them coming great work
We like a size 1 sable hair brush for a lot of work. We predominantly use Winsor & Newton Series 7watercolour and Artis Opus Series S. Grab a couple and see which you like.
Would love to see a few approaches to zombies, as i imagine their dying flesh creates all sorts of colours, esp as everyone has different colours and tones before they die and start rotting.
Question… on the other models you had sprayed the whole models with either the brass for the verdigris, and the lead bealcher. 1. To paint the bone, I assume you first went in to paint black on the bone first to cover up the metallic yes? That’s a dumb question I know, I’m just wondering what you found easier, airbrushing metal king and going back, or just hand paint all of it? 2. What color did you use for the base for the bronze in the verdigris videos? I’m starting these this weekend and I’m copying this lol.
1. It would be really easy to just brush paint it all. Airbrush just sped up the tutorial for me really. I think I'd probably airbrush the metal on and then brush paint everything else. 2. S75 Victorian brass.
What would you say is the closest equivalent to US Olive Drab in the Citadel range? Most of my paints collection is Citadel, and I want to know if I have something that works already and don't need to buy anything new to paint bone like this. My first thought was Death World Forest, but that's probably too green.
damn son i painted my blade guard ancient with the skeleton banner yesterday. this video comes one day too late for me. my saltiness reaches a critical level; not gonna lie -.- anyways, thanks for the video. i am sure i am going to paint another skeleton at some point.
I got three quarters of the way through the video and started to get worried I wasn't going to hear Henry say Sansodor this week
Would absolutely love to see you cover zombies as well, if you're open to covering another troop type from the army!
Sure thing
Something not many channels cover, like 40k Orks or Tyranid Gaunts maybe?
Dude that veridigris work you did is so choice.
Thanks!

2:22 interesting how the US Olive Drab has separated into the grey and what looks like a cobalt greenish color.
Hmm... Wraithbone base and Skeleton Horde wash... lol... Enjoyed this video! Thanks for posting...

Nice work!
@@cultofpaint Thanks, is there any email i can send more questions to, regarding details?
This is a lovely tutorial. The effect is controlled and subtle but provides just the right impact for that swampy bone look. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Found these skeleton painting tutorials just in time for the Gravelords release. These will be most helpful, thank you.
Looks like a great release.

Great to hear, thanks a lot Bjorn. That is what we are aiming for!
deffo would love to see the cloth as well to complete the whole model! really love job and super simple to follow along, thanks!
Thanks! I’ll put something together.

Great! I hope we’re gonna see a bunch of new undead armies soon!
@@cultofpaint there’s never enough undead armies lol
Nice Job, I've always painted on the sprue
Excellent video. Really well explained. Thank you for sharing
Cheers dude
Definitely want to see a video on the cloth.
I would have enjoyed seeing the rope and wood painted as well.
I'm planning a little video on the wood. Will include some extra modelling.

There will be vamps coming. Certainly on Our Patreon.
Ooo, would love to see you do a zombie from this set 👏

Great to hear!! Brighter bone I’d def work up to pure deck tan.

wow awesome
Any ideas for burnt bone? I have thought about GW's Salamanders' Flesh recipe, but I'm willing to hear other ideas.

This is great
also to speed up painting could you also apply select, thin coats of dry brushing or will it take about the same amount of time.
You could for sure. I don’t particularly care for the look of drybrushed minis on the whole though.
After watching this video i just want to start an Undead army! 👌🏻
Wise.
When "bone" is all capitalised like that you have to say it like an angered captain Holt.
Perfect
I think about Holt every time I use “Balthazar Gold” 😂
What box is the skeleton in armour with shield and spear from?

mix it with dryad bark and it'll probably be pretty close. If it needs to be darker add a drop of black.

If you play warhammer It is inevitable!
😣in my country just selling the basic colors, well it can be difficult
By us olive drab do you mean Olive brown because I can not find that paint
What's the book that's coming out soon?
New warhammer undead. Soulblight Gravelords.
@@cultofpaint I see. I thought you were releasing a painting tutorial book.
what would you say would be a good way to make the model look "wet" as in the skeletons just arose from their swampy resting place.
Gloss varnish
@@astolbro7183 would you do gloss varnish all over the miniature or would you try and target certain areas
@@Lucillevt4011 if you want it to look like they just got out of the swamp all over but do it on only one mini to see if you like how it turns out
Would it even be possible to do this with an airbrush? Or would that just fill in the gaps between the ribs and everything?
If you angled from the top it wouldn’t be too bad and the wash helps darken the recesses.
Where did this minis come from?
Cursed City box from GW.
@@cultofpaint RIP ouch guess I'll have to make my own then
@@cultofpaint thanks for telling me though
No oil? It's really Henry? :D
Significant self control! But you can do great bone with oils too
👌
👍♥️
Vallejo is a pain in the ass. They changed their numbers again. Us olive drab is now 70.887. I got the wrong colour 😂
Thanks for the heads up!
Drink when you hear the word 'bone'.
