- #norfolksouthern #train This is the Peavine line owned by Norfolk Southern. It’s been out of service on the east end for 20 years now. The end of this video I show the active part just used for storage. All of the video is shot from the air with no sound.

Hey friend, you need to talk to Mathew minter over at pike lake state park he's a fellow railfan the most senior naturalist in the state and just like me wants to see this line become a tourist railroad I figure he might be able to help make this a reality you might also be able catch him at Shawnee if he's not at the park, Mathew is a teacher there at shawnee some of the cool artifacts he was telling me about in his collection is a rail speeder and his grandfather's books ,paperwork and notes when he was one of the locomotive boiler technicians in portsmouth if you talk to him let him know I sent you ,also nice camera work with the quadcopter
Sounds like a very knowledgeable guy!! I could have saw him before but never know. We will see how the voters of Cincinnati will cast their ballots on the sale of their railroad this fall. If they vote to sell it will most likely be torn up!

Yes it was the only tunnel. Opened in 1901-1903 I think.🤔 at one time a road was over it also.
@Paw95 thank you, I thought that looked like the location from old photos I've seen. Keep up the great video work. I live just north in Sidney and recently discovered the old Peavine. I wish I could have seen it in its heyday. Especially the Vera bridge area.😞
It sure is a shame the way they just let it go. That line could be viable in the future, but if NS gives the last 20 miles to the state, it`s gonna be a bike trail nobody will use.
