    Hello Dr. Isaacs,
Thank you for your explanation of ethnography and how this methodology works to understand human behavior and culture. I am currently in a graduate program at Arizona State University and this week, we delved into the different approaches to qualitative research, one of which being ethnography. It was helpful to hear your perspectives on how ethnography can be used in real world contexts, which is a huge influence and design of this approach to qualitative research. In working within the field of education, I can also now see instances in which the use of ethnography can point out "obvious", as you stated, insights into certain actions or behaviors. My masters degree in education will be an ME.D. in Learning and Design Technologies, so also hearing about the use of ethnography with the intention to design innovative technologies in practical fields or in every day factors and environments, made me wonder how ethnography may be used in certain contexts in education. What is one way that you could see ethnography impacting the design of technology in online learning? You mentioned that in your studies you mostly relied on the use of observations, which is important to the methodology of ethnography, but would you consider any benefits to the use of interviews or informal conversations among participants you observed over time? Could these other data collection method be impactful to the redesign of proposed signs in your study?
Thank you for translating this research method into an applicable format for understanding!
    -Melissa Woodward

It was a great explanation about Ethnography! Thank you so much. I love this quote "The best way to predict the future is to invent it" Alan Kay (Computer science - Invented Graphical User Interfaces).

Without the comma, the Mead's quotation was really incomprehensible to me!
