Australia's greatest!!! He has just come through the fight of his life😢 We in Australia love this man. John Farnham our legend!!!! 💓 Love you John!!! xxoo
This was the third last song. There were three encores. First was Help, second was Sadie and third was It’s a Long Way to the Top. I have the dvd of the live concert. People are often confused about the encore as he says stay safe etc but of course that’s how encores work- he said that and still came back and did another two songs. After its a Long Way to The Top you’ll hear him say be careful on the roads 😊
I have also been corrected that this was the DVD recording, recorded on the 4th or 5th night out of the 7 nights the concert went for. From what others who went to the concerts have commented on, is that on some of the other nights this was the last song, so that is where that info comes from. Some nights he sang for close to 3 hours, others closer to 2.5, and the TV recorded special was for closer to 2 hours, which I have been corrected on almost abusively. lol. Anyway, what is not in dispute, is that this is at least the 4th night in a row that he was belting out like this, another thing that is not in dispute, is that most other singers would be flat out doing it for 2 or 3 nights. JF did it flawlessly for 7 nights, and that alone makes him one of, if not, the best singer ever.
@@randywissler9923Steve Perry couldn't even test farnhams microphone. Check out farnhams performance of black dog by led zepp. Makes Robert plant look like an amateur
John's voice is everything. There was a quote on another video which sums it up perfectly. "John Lennon wrote it. The Beatles sang it. John Farnham owns it." This is how this song should always have been done, and the look on your face at those first few huge notes speaks of the shock and awe this rendition deserves, as if you can't believe what you're hearing. Just think, this was an encore after a 2.5 hour concert and he still sounds flawless (he's always on point live). This is The Voice of Australia and we love him, without question.
Yeah, but remember we weren't always so proud: when he first released this, the single did great but the album not so much. In fact the 20-ish years before Whispering Jack/The Voice were seriously tough. A lot of touring, a lot of talent, performances as great as they ever were, but it just somehow didn't connect in a serious way. And then suddenly, everything aligned - nothing changed, it just all lined up for some reason, and the multitudes woke up to how seriously genius this talent was. And when I say he rode that success to this day, know that I'm not saying he got complacent or took it 4 granted: he's always worked hard in every sense -with his voice, and his people, and for his industry. He's the Hugh Jackman of his generation: people who make you proud to wave the same flag as you, not because of their talent so much as how they do what they do with it. ❤❤❤
That's not true at all. Paul McCartney said that this was the closet version to what John originally envisioned. It was the record company that insisted The Beatles do a more upbeat radio friendly version.
I grew up in Australia and I was a lover of Grunge and rock during the early 90’s. However growing up in this time everyone loved “Farnsy”. Didn’t matter whether you wanted to be a cool teen into rock, rap or Grunge. You loved him and his talent no matter what.
Live version of Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham with Diesel singing Something Is Wrong With My Baby. John had mouth cancer a couple years ago. Healing prayers for him!
This version th-cam.com/video/AU_bCchDWF4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=R0D-paz8vzkCJ3eE and I might be biased but, these 3 guys are undoubtedly some of the most amazing artists to come out of Australia EVER!!
This is a cover of the Beatles song 'help' done John's way. John recorded this in 1980 and this concert was in 1989. Thankyou for your awesome reaction. ❤
Said it on the last reaction - watch John do You're The Voice live in this same concert. Fun fact, he was 40 (maybe 41) in this recording and had reinvented himself so impressively... he's just crazy talented and so lovely to watch. He's funny, kind to the audience, deeply respectful to the band. I was 13 around then and he was part of the backdrop of my life. You could also watch him live in 2019 smashing it in the Firefight concert. Mad respect.
NOW you know OUR John. Always LIVE❕ PLEASE watch "You're The Voice" from this same concert 🙏🏼 It will HIT you SO different than the video release. All your Aussie subscribers PROMISE you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
He holds the distinction of having a number one hit in 5 consecutive decades The man was a great singer sadly as a result of the reconstructive surgery to treat cancer of the jaw he has been left with scar tissue that prevents him from opening his mouth wide enough to sing. We can only hope he can somehow over come this and sing again
Make sure you watch ‘live’ videos. Especially recommend John Farnham with Jimmy Barnes doing “When something is wrong with my baby” (the version from Hey Hey it’s Saturday is great) and “When the war is over” (the one John recorded when in his 50s
He's great, isn't he. He is always like that. Superb voice, magnificent stage presence, always chatting and joking with the audience. And to top it all off he is such a lovely bloke, inside and out. It's no wonder Aussies have loved him for decades.
Singing teachers on YT reacting to John are gob-smacked surprisingly shocked, too ! Australian John Farnham has a big, gymnastic, powerful vocal range. He sings in over 20 genres. His music career spans five decades with top hits and albums in every one. He is a consummate entertainer with incredible charisma and rapport with his audiences. His concerts were sold out many times over. He is ADORED in Australia and fans go from the very young to the very old. What is sooo loved about him is that he is friendly, humble and funny as well as having such wonderful talent. He sings some songs with messages of greater good for the world. Always see and hear him LIVE and in concert where his Soul shines !
John Farnham has nickname in Australia 'Farnzy' as his contemporary and another big voice in Aus was Jimmy Barnes nicknamed 'Barnzy'. Farnzy & Barnzy are the best male voices to come out of Australia. Help is a Beatles Song. Another fun fact, Farnzy retired and had comeback tours about 7 times and in Australia we have a saying for anyone who keeps coming back or returning as someone who has more comebacks than John Farnham. All jokes aside, he is amazing.
John Farnham is the G.O.A.T. and is the greatest Aussie vocalist, performer, entertainer of all time. You will love Its a Long Way to the Top from the same concert (ACDC Cover) - absolutely phenomenal. John could sing over 20 genres. John is 75 now and recovering from mouth cancer. We are all just hoping he can sing. Listen to his sound check of Zepellins Black Dog. That will blow you away. His band are always phenomenal - some have been with him for 40 odd years. Theres almost 60 years of his music - he is so charismatic and a genuine, kind person - that woll chat to you in the street. Love our John. ❤❤ Thank you for a great reaction.
@lisaeason6874 I'm sorry I never meant to say that it wasn't amazing it is amazing but to me it just feels like you could feel so much more emotion in the live performance ❤️😁 at least that's how I think about it 😁
John is a much loved son of Australia, born in England his family emigrated to Aus when John was 10. He can sing anything, any genre and has shared the stage with all the superstars of the world.
@@SamaraS1970 I read somewhere that John is singing round his house. Don't know if he'll come back to the stage but ( I'm sure it was his sons said) he sings around his house constantly😁✌️
He recently made an announcement that he won’t sing again as the operation has changed the shape of his mouth- the announcement was made around the same time as the audio book was released so about a month ago?
@@Dr_KAP that is so sad I hope he doesn't like suffer from depression because of this because he had been doing it for so long, I mean I don't know everything about him like I said I'm not from there I'm from the United States I just ran into him and Jimmy Barnes and Diesel because of INXS and then I started listening to Jimmy Barnes who I love and then I started listening to John and then I started checking out Diesel so I don't know like a lot I have done some looking into him but he's had a really really good career and I hope that he doesn't get those feelings of depression because he can't do what he loves to do that would be so sad 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
I'm an aussie and i grew up listening to this stuff. When i was younger I was not a fan of John (i was trying to be a cool rock kid), however as I got older i appreciated this talent, his voice and on stage charima. He performed this song after a 2 hour concert and I beleive it was the 2nd or 3rd encore.
Once you go down the Aussie 80s rabbit hole you may never come back. I saw John Farnham along with INXS and numerous other Aussie music icons live in the 80s. Icehouse, Mondo Rock, Australian Crawl, The Angels, Rick Price, 1927, Cold Chisel, The Divinyls etc etc They all came up through the pub scene and the music is timeless. I live a few doors from a pub and every weekend all you hear is cover bands playing 80s music. Love your reactions BTW.
This is crazy - I thought to myself just yesterday that I wanted you to react to this superb Beatles cover. John is an absolute legend in Australia- a much loved and truly decent man.

Thank you for a great reaction. 😊😍
My husband took me to see Simply Red...and he kept saying ."Wait until you see Hucknell live." He was brilliant. John Farnham is the voice of a generation....so sad America missed it. He could STILL hit notes like that after he was 70...until his cancer diagnosis. The man has one of the best pair of pipes ever..Only Steve Perry can hit notes that touch your soul like John Farnham does. He is a much loved Aussie icon.......I miss his concerts every day....over 100 concerts and I was never disappointed. This concert with MSO was my all time favourite...he belted his arse off for almost 3 hours. Our Aussie legend. If you say "The Voice" in America they think Steve Perry BUT SAY IT IN OZ.....and there is only one 'Voice"...our John.
oh Suzy I'm truly delighted for you and envious in the best and most vicarious way, what an amazing experience to watch and support an extraordinary artist to grow! I cannot believe i never saw John Farnham in concert even though I was in the region - and into punk - thank goodness for sharing and reactors now, and you :)
He originally recorded his arrangement of this song when he was around 31 years old 1980. This concert was 1989 and he was 40 years old. He had been perfecting the song, adding more runs and other little nuances, over the 9 years in between. During that time his voice had developed more natural grit due to 25+ years of smoking and singing big venues. IMO, this performance is so much better that the original recording. Although John's 30 year old voice had a purity and perfection that could never be replicated by anyone. His arrangement was also copied by Tina Turner who released her version in 1984. She also does a Great job. Many of the world's greatest artists like Freddie Mercury, Richard May, The Beatles, Elton John, Celine Dion, Richard Marx, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Tom Jones, Lionel Ritchie, Stevie Nicks, know John well and have great respect for him. Many have even sang and toured with him in Australia. Many have stated he is their favourite singer and one of the greatest vocalists in the world. The reason you never heard of him I that he never became commercial in the US. he chose not to leave Australia as he didn't want to be separated from his wife and kids. Plus at the time the US music industry didn't get him . Although he did actually tour the US at one time when he was the lead singer of the Little River Band. Check out LRB with John Singing Reminiscing.. Anyway. I hope you will react to more John Farnham... He is an Aussie icon ..❤❤❤❤ Check out one of his own songs All our Sons and Daughters
Bro, Johnny Farnham is known as The Voice in Australia, and he is a pure entertainer. Every show is epic. The ladies have been known to throw all types of things on his stage during shows.
Yes the Beatles did the original and John Lennon saw this performance and loved the way John slowed it down and made it more instrumental. He said to John that they wanted to do something similar but their manager wouldn't allow it - they had to do it as a rock song. Yes John has a great voice and more importantly he is very versatile - can do anything from pop, rock, opera - just about anything. You have just scratched the surface of his long career's performance list. He goes back to 1967. That is why he and Olivia Newton John are friends. Both were working in the same Melbourne studios back in the 1960's, well before Olivia was known in the US as a country singer originally. Of course you remember her probably from the movie Grease in 1978 onwards.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. You’ve found our John, known by us Aussies as The Voice. Freddie Mercury allegedly thought he had the best male voice in the world and Queen approached him for lead singer when Freddie passed away. The Beetles supposedly said this version was what they wanted before the industry made it up tempo. He has more, just saying❤️
He is a phenomenal singer. So is Jimmy Barnes either as a solo singer or with his band cold chisel.. Jimmy sings a duet with John Farnham called “when something is wrong with my baby”
@@sarad2376 Don't worry Sara, we all cry a little or a lot or get goosebumps or both when listening to and watching our John. His emotion and passion in his performances are second to none, besides that VOICE 😍💞
Ahh finally.. been waiting for BP to do this one for a long time. It’s reactors like you on YT that bring our boy to the world’s attention. So much Australian music didn’t make it to the international arena for many different reasons- but the world missed out. Aussie music is for the most part best viewed LIVE (as you’ve just discovered)- that’s how our musicians are weaned, from back paddocks to country pubs and finally on to bigger venues if they’re good enough. Cold Chisel up next I hope- these boys are in @thatsingerreacts top 5 of all time!
@@Dr_KAP Well said Kappy ♥️💖🥰 our Aussie music royals are up there in the stratosphere 🤣🎉❤️ By the way I'm up to Part 23 of the History of John and just hitting 2001 LOL!! 🤩💗
❤ BTW… fun fact… John was 40 at the time of this concert and had been a pretty big Aussie star for 20+ years. Not to mention that this was the encore after a 2 hour concert!!! Help is originally a Beatles song but John made it his own. John Lennon is said to have remarked that this is the way that the song was always meant to be sung but the Beatles were pushed to record it as an uptempo pop song instead of the ballad they wanted it to be. John is an Aussie icon, not just because of his powerhouse vocals but because he is just such a humble man. John is funny and self-deprecating and has always never believed he should be out on a pedestal. He has never, ever, portrayed himself as above others, he has always downplayed his fame. Although he was given the opportunity to pursue international stardom, John chose to stay in Aus and put his family first. John will always be our hero and will always be the recipient of much love. ❤️ John kept that power vocal right into his 70’s and up until his cancer diagnosis and surgery for mouth cancer a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, the surgery means that John will probably never sing again but that doesn’t matter to us as he will always be loved and venerated for himself, not just his voice. I, for one, am glad that even in the twilight, John is finally receiving the international acclaim he deserved. TH-cam reactors like you have made John more popular on an international scale than he had the chance to be during his career! ❤❤
Welcome to down the John Farnham rabbit hole! I first saw him in Little River Band but didn’t know where he went until just a few years ago and I traveled down the rabbit hole. He is the best live and gives everything he’s got to every song he sings. His cd stays in my car and what I listen to to deal with other drivers. He is the voice!!!
John Farnham is widely regarded to be one of the greatest male vocalists ever, one golden rule is that you need to listen to him live as he is one of those rare singers that sound better live than in the studio. You definitely need to react to ‘You’re the voice’ from the same concert, it will blow you away.
I have the biggest grin on my face!!! It is always best to hear John live, as you see his interaction with the audience as well as his charisma. Welcome to our “Voice”, as he is affectionately known here in Australia. He has so many great hits to listen to and he can sing anything. Fantastic reaction❤️❤️❤️❤️
@anthonyglass7419 I agree with you 100% about his voice and Jimmy's but I would probably have to put Michael Hutchence from INXS and Diesel and with that grouping😁
Burn For You, Please Don’t Ask Me (with Olivia Newton John)--2 beautiful love songs. When Something Is Wrong With My Baby-super powerful duet with another great Australian singer, Jimmy Barnes- When The War is Over, Angels … just a small sample showing John’s amazing versatility and talent. More please.
Holy Shit! As soon as I heard him I remembered his voice but I couldn’t place it…I looked him up and he was in a group that was awesome in the 80’s in a style of the Eagles mixed with The Tubes, called the Little River Band! You’ve got to check out “Take it easy on me” & “The other guy”… their greatest hits album is good end to end. They played from like 79-86…and had several albums. I didn’t even realize he was Australian, so I learned something new today lol
Yes, John was in LRB for a few years, but he was already a star in Australia long before that. John's career started in 1967, he had been "King of Pop" in Australia 5 consecutive years from 1969-1973. John is Music Royalty here in Australia. Everyone here knows him and he is loved by millions. BTW..LRB was an Australian Band.
And this was an encore at the end of the 2+ hour concert. John is "The Voice", we have all known it in Australia for decades. I was disappointed you reviewed the studio version of "You're the Voice" as it doesn't show his persona, passion and power. You should review the version from this concert. You got it right the first time, this is John's 1980 rearrangement of "Help" by John Lennon (and JL heard John's version before his death and said that was the way the song was meant to sound). We Aussies so enjoy new reactors to John and I knew when you watched the videoclip you wouldn't have known just how great he is. Please react to more John please. 💞 He has a career of over 60 years, he was Australia's King of Pop for 5 consecutive years 1969 - 1973. He is the only Australian artist to have a number one record (album or single) in five consecutive decades. You must always react to "live" versions of John. All Farnham followers will be waiting for more reactions...by the way, John can sing anything, he is always pitch perfect. He even played JC in "Superstar". If you want really special, have a look at him singing Angels live in 2000. You'll see how hilarious he is (it's all known he could have done 'stand-up'. And how he can go from joking around to singing with such passion in thy blink of an eye is mindblowing. And not to mention Lisa Edwards, his amazing backing singer who accompanies him so absolutely flawlessly. It's a must watch!
Wasn’t this a Beatles song ? I’ve never heard of this guy but what an amazing arrangement of the song and what a voice. Sounds like a rock singer, he should be more known as one of the greatest voices of all time !! Need to get Google going to find out more !! 😂 ❤✌🏻
He is known as one of the greatest of all time.. GOAT!!! In Australia he is known as "The Voice". John has graced us with his voice for over 6 decades. I was one of the teeny-boppers who fell for him back in the late 60s...then he was known as "Johnny" Farnham. A new documentary was released last year and again it broke the box office here in Australia. He is our beloved John. th-cam.com/video/LocCfc5PKrE/w-d-xo.html
John's style is hard to define. He sings everything from pop, rock, blues, and opera just about anything really. It's hard to be disappointed with anything he sings.
This whole concert seemed brilliant. He also does a version of ACDCs It's Long Way to the top during this concert. Another is Black Dog by Led Zepplin but as a warm up
Thanks BP, loved seeing your reaction to 'Farnsey'. Not only did Lennon publicly say that this is how the song should have been released by The Beatles (original creators), but Paul McCartney has also come out and said the same thing. The Beatles were pressured by their record label to release the pop version we all know, but this is how they would have preferred it to be sung. Also bare in mind this performance from John Farnham was at the end of a 2.5 hour concert. Anything from this show is worth listening to if you're looking for other songs from him, but the live version of "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" is brilliant. It features Jimmy Barnes and Diesel (Barnsey's brother in-law and musician in his own right) on guitar and backing vocals.
Welcome to what most Aussies believe to be the best live singer in recent decades. Aside from being a wonderful singer, he is is an amazing man, much loved by us all.
Australia’s greatest and I’d argue the world’s greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time. John can sing anything, any genre, including opera, he has it all charisma, great stage presence, audience participation, always involves and applauds his fellow band member, seemingly endless vocal range, the power in his voice, mic technique, breath control, he’s a true performer and at times a comedian. John’s just there for the music, the love of his fellow musical artists and the love of his fans, he’s just so happy to be out on that stage and always has so much fun. And remember all these performances you see of John 80’s-90’s there’s no auto tune or tricks out the back, he nails it first time every time, I’ve never seen a bad or even average performance from John and I’ve been listening and watching him for 40 odd years. And then there’s those epic mic and mic stand tricks where he tosses the mic stand meters into the air and catches it on the way down while still singing, or the old corded mics that he’d spin around like a ninja and catch the mic just in time to continue singing, he’s just the perfect showman. The goat.
You definitely have to watch the live version of 'You're the Voice' now. It will blow your mind!!!! He belts it out while looking like he's taking a casual walk on the beach!
You have never truly been to a concert unless you have been to one of John Farnhams. He is much more than just a singer, his concerts were astounding, and you left them feeling invigorated and alive.
The greatest Australian singer ever, John Farnham is always best live. Only react to his live performances you will not be disappointed. By the way I was there at that concert.
When you were blown away by his studio recording of the voice, I knew you were in for a surprise with him live. He holds back in the studio. He belts LIVE. Watch this same concert him doing You're the voice. It's EPIC!! Please do more John Farnham live - you will fall in love! In particular he really loves Stevie wonder. His cover of Love's in need with his band acapella is so awesome. When he was about 40-50 he even got to perform with Ray Charles. He also co wrote a song with his record producer and his keyboardist an acclaimed composer, called "In Days to come" about unity and civil rights. Please watch these ❤❤❤
Also sorry - I'm a bit protective. Meatloaf was good. May he rest in peace, but John's vocal ability is almost second to none. He is really a cut above the rest. His range, power, agility, flexibility, timbre and tone are just insane!!! Please don't say he's like meatloaf lol. And again. He is 1000 times better live. His studio recordings are tame but LiVE is where it is at. Before auto tune and digital enhancements - he is raw, and pitch perfect every single time (almost) ❤
As an Australian this makes me so proud. John Farnham is a national treasure to our Country This song is one of the greatest songs ever I love that your showing his song like this
John was nearly 40 years old when he did this concert. He could sell out multiple nights big arenas in Australia. He was “kinda” retired but would still sing live without missing a note at aid concerts for bush fire victims, drought stricken farmers etc up until Covid (70’ish) but is has only recently signalled that he has recovered from a bout of treatment, including a brutal operation, for mouth cancer that he now admits will restrict his singing. We love John, a truly humble man with a great talent and generous attitude to his fellow performers and fans.
We are so proud of john Farnham. Yes this is the Beatles song but John's version. He is just recovering from mouth cancer. I left a comment to watch this. So glad you did ❤
Welcome to the world of John Farnham our national treasure always always listen to John live. So much for you to enjoy. Watch out for the Farnsie army ❤❤❤❤❤
Farnsey is the soundtrack of multiple generations of Australian lives. I feel SO blessed to have grown up with The Voice. Also, one of the very few people who are genuinely better live than their studio cuts. Every. Damn. Time.
As someone who used to sing, before 55 years of smoking took its toll, I know what you have to feel inside to give a good song the respect it deserves. That's talent.
Same here, but John was smoking 2-3 pkts a day during this period, he gave up in the 90s. Unfortunately the smoking probably was the blame for John's recent battle with Mouth Cancer. Following massive surgery and jaw reconstruction we are still on edge waiting for each bulletin on his recovering. His throat wasn't affected but he has difficulty with his jaw movement, but he has announced he is now Cancer Free.
John is one of the greatest singers of all time. He’s now 75 and much loved.
Australia's greatest!!! He has just come through the fight of his life😢 We in Australia love this man. John Farnham our legend!!!! 💓 Love you John!!! xxoo
And this was the LAST song at the end of a 2.5 hour concert. John is a singing machine.
Any video, anything live, will blow your mind.
Absolutely ❤❤❤
@Dr_KAP how he managed to perform these particular songs 🎵 at the end of the concert is really mind blowing ❤
JF did it flawlessly for 7 nights, and that alone makes him one of, if not, the best singer ever.
and after a long tour schedule too I believe
Our national treasure. Best served live
He and Olivia Newton-John❤❤❤❤
Amen to both
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Seen John a couple of times...a performer....a great man.
So true just a massive fan of both from New Zealand
They don’t call him “The Voice” for nothing. Always amazing, each and every time.
He's great, but the true "Voice" is Steve Perry!!
@@randywissler9923Steve Perry couldn't even test farnhams microphone. Check out farnhams performance of black dog by led zepp. Makes Robert plant look like an amateur
Now you understand why so many comments say to always react to John Farnham’s live performances. He just soars in front of an audience.
Oh, and you should check out his cover of AC/DCs "Long Way to the Top", either with the MSO from the same concert or with Sir Tom Jones.
AGREED by another Aussie who adored John, NO other voice compares, whats important is that he's a really nice humble guy offstage. 💯👍🇦🇺🪃🦘
Well said. Spot on.
Not many artists can pull off a live version better than a studio recording. John Farnham is one of very few who sound better live!
Much of the world doesn’t realise what they’ve missed. We Aussies didn’t.
Yeah mate, Farnsey is a national treasure. One of the greatest singers ever.
John Lennon just weeks before he was murdered said that Farnham's version of his song Help was just how he intended it to be recorded.
Sorry I wrote something wrong so it should not be highlighted.
That's not true at all. Paul McCartney said that this was the closet version to what John originally envisioned. It was the record company that insisted The Beatles do a more upbeat radio friendly version.
@Smoshy16 well in 64 years this is the first time I have ever heard that so sorry but I remain sceptical and calling it out.
@caskur1 you're not even close. Farnham released his version of Help in July 1980, Lennon died in Dec 1980.
@@caskur1 John Lennon , Died on the 8th of December, 1980. Not In the 70s.
I grew up in Australia and I was a lover of Grunge and rock during the early 90’s. However growing up in this time everyone loved “Farnsy”. Didn’t matter whether you wanted to be a cool teen into rock, rap or Grunge. You loved him and his talent no matter what.
Welcome to the GOAT. King of Australia
no doubt there

Yes! Yes, and more yesses. The song, the trio, it's like a gif of perfection.
Yes!!
YES!!! Must. Barnsey and Farnsey - will some Diesel for very good measure.
This is a cover of the Beatles song 'help' done John's way. John recorded this in 1980 and this concert was in 1989. Thankyou for your awesome reaction. ❤
King
Said it on the last reaction - watch John do You're The Voice live in this same concert. Fun fact, he was 40 (maybe 41) in this recording and had reinvented himself so impressively... he's just crazy talented and so lovely to watch. He's funny, kind to the audience, deeply respectful to the band. I was 13 around then and he was part of the backdrop of my life. You could also watch him live in 2019 smashing it in the Firefight concert. Mad respect.
Concert May 1989 I believe so nearly 40,
I'm an Aussie, grew up with John Farnham, he's just the best, we love him here ❤❤
Me too
Australia considers John their Elvis! They love him, with reason, he is exceptional.
i would even consider calling john a friend based on all out chats on the bus heading home at Lilydale a very compassionate and thoughtful person
NOW you know OUR John. Always LIVE❕
PLEASE watch "You're The Voice" from this same concert 🙏🏼 It will HIT you SO different than the video release. All your Aussie subscribers PROMISE you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Agreed
He holds the distinction of having a number one hit in 5 consecutive decades The man was a great singer sadly as a result of the reconstructive surgery to treat cancer of the jaw he has been left with scar tissue that prevents him from opening his mouth wide enough to sing. We can only hope he can somehow over come this and sing again
6 decades. If you include the 2 albums he did with ONJ in 2015 and 2016.
Apparently he is practising his singing as part of his speech therapy.
Wow! I don't think I've ever heard of John Farnham before ... but man, imma gonna do a deep dive ... thanks!!
He can sing anything, opera, ballad, rock etc. There is a lot to discover.
You won't regret it!
Many decades to discover.
Make sure you watch ‘live’ videos. Especially recommend John Farnham with Jimmy Barnes doing “When something is wrong with my baby” (the version from Hey Hey it’s Saturday is great) and “When the war is over” (the one John recorded when in his 50s
Playing to win
He's great, isn't he. He is always like that. Superb voice, magnificent stage presence, always chatting and joking with the audience. And to top it all off he is such a lovely bloke, inside and out. It's no wonder Aussies have loved him for decades.
no dispute i loved chatting with him on the way home on the bus in Lilydale
This Beatles song was perfected by John. 🔥🔥🔥🔥❤
Always see and hear him LIVE and in concert where his Soul shines !
and keep away from the women as they love his ass as well plus ray martin got more than he bargained for 9 times out of 10 with him
John Lennon said this is how this song should have been sung
I’ve been lucky enough to see John live many times, over the years. He gives 100% every time & clearly loves what he does. Top bloke🇦🇺
Welcome to the John Farnham rabbit hole - you will have a great time here!!
One of the best vocal performances of all time.
He's always been one of the favourite live performers in Australia 🦘.
Russell Morris is up there with Barnzy and Farnzy and Jon English too.
And we are glad and grateful he kept coming back.
The backing singers who are some of the best in the business, all with mics are still drowned out by the power of John's voice.
You will not believe his sound check on Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog."
“When something is wrong with my baby” Jimmy Barnes (feat) John Farnham will knock you out 😂🙏🏽
You should add live to that in my opinion live sounds better than the video to me 😁
Totally agree and LIVE VERSION is a must.
I like the live but the old black and white version is super amazing.

Have you heard anything will John Farnham be able to sing again do you think? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@SamaraS1970 I read somewhere that John is singing round his house. Don't know if he'll come back to the stage but ( I'm sure it was his sons said) he sings around his house constantly😁✌️

He performed this song after a 2 hour concert and I beleive it was the 2nd or 3rd encore.
same .. when we were young he was too squeaky clean and a reminder of the YTT days.. but yes he is pretty darn amazing.. (now that i've grown up LOL)

Ive said it many times before John could have a been a world wide superstar if he chose to but he was happy just to be an Aussie Legend.
He basically didn't want to drag his family around the world - neither did he want to leave them for months on end. Beautiful person ❤💯👍
He did try early on but none of the record labels wanted him. Bet they feel stupid now.
John sounds exactly the same live as he does on the radio. I’ve been listening to him for 4 decades now
My husband took me to see Simply Red...and he kept saying ."Wait until you see Hucknell live." He was brilliant.
Got into Hucknell in the 80's though.
I’m loving this rendition! I’ve never heard it before.
The Voice. The legend. ❤❤❤🦘🦘🦘
That’s why you gotta react to John Live.
He is an Aussie icon ..❤❤❤❤
Check out one of his own songs All our Sons and Daughters
Yours is one of the best reactions to this performance ever! The type of reaction John deserves 😊
Thank you, BP - I am always happy to hear John, but this is extra special. He also sang "You are the Voice" in the same concert. That too is superb.
Amazing grace and Black Dog

Oh WOW🤯 He really made this song his own. Really enjoyed it. 👌👍🎶🎼
He is a phenomenal singer. So is Jimmy Barnes either as a solo singer or with his band cold chisel.. Jimmy sings a duet with John Farnham called “when something is wrong with my baby”
His live performances are always better!
He sings a duet with the late great Olivia Newton John and it’s sooo beautiful. It’s called ‘Please don’t ask me.’

Ahh finally.. been waiting for BP to do this one for a long time. It’s reactors like you on YT that bring our boy to the world’s attention. So much Australian music didn’t make it to the international arena for many different reasons- but the world missed out. ❤❤
Thank you.. absolutely nailed it. He's our boy
He’s Australian and yes he remade it. And he is an Aussie Icon👌🏽☺️
Yes Listen to More of this Man he is epic
And this was an encore at the end of the 2+ hour concert. John is "The Voice", we have all known it in Australia for decades. I was disappointed you reviewed the studio version of "You're the Voice" as it doesn't show his persona, passion and power. You should review the version from this concert.
You got it right the first time, this is John's 1980 rearrangement of "Help" by John Lennon (and JL heard John's version before his death and said that was the way the song was meant to sound). Goosebumps watching John Farnham ...a beautiful person ...a golden voice who we all grew up with...The Voice!❤
Originally John Lennon wanted record Help slowly and more serious but he was convinced to do it more pop like.
@@Oldbutnotout65 hail John Farnham
John's style is hard to define. He sings everything from pop, rock, blues, and opera just about anything really. It's hard to be disappointed with anything he sings.
The Beatles didn't know what to do with this song! So AMAZING!
John Farnham was and will always be an icon in Australia, his voice was amazing 😍
Aussie here 🙋🏼♀️ John Farnham is a legend!
His voice is incredible and he has some timeless songs.
Welcome to what most Aussies believe to be the best live singer in recent decades. Aside from being a wonderful singer, he is is an amazing man, much loved by us all.
Absolutely. The late Billie Thorpe was a special gift too. A nation that bats way above its average. Makes us all proud. 🇦🇺👌
More More John Farnham
You have never truly been to a concert unless you have been to one of John Farnhams. He is much more than just a singer, his concerts were astounding, and you left them feeling invigorated and alive.
Congrats on coming across the greatest male singer ever
This was a GREAT o e! You’re the Voice is incredible too
Holy Sh**!! Wow
Greatest male vocalist of all time & i will die on that hill ❤
The greatest Australian singer ever, John Farnham is always best live. Only react to his live performances you will not be disappointed. By the way I was there at that concert.
A first for me all the way around. I like it
then dive into the rabbit whole you will love it
Woo!! I haven't even watched yet but I'm gonna like this in advance. Have been waiting forever for you to watch John Farnham's mastery live!! ❤
John Farnham is a national treasure to our Country
This song is one of the greatest songs ever
I love that your showing his song like this
John was nearly 40 years old when he did this concert.
The combo of him and Olivia Newton-John singing a duet live was and is the best male and female voices Australia has ever produced! ❤
I was at that concert. Help was his encore after a very long concert.
Farnsey is the soundtrack of multiple generations of Australian lives. I feel SO blessed to have grown up with The Voice.
Also, one of the very few people who are genuinely better live than their studio cuts. Every. Damn. Time.
Great reaction BP! John is best enjoyed live and you're correct it is better than the audio version. Please check-out more.
So glad you saw this! I was at that concert as a 10 year old in Melbourne and it was a life changing experience!
Simply the best one of the great live performances around the world
John Farnham, is LEGEND!!!
