The most complex part of the whole Sea Dragon concept. It didn't evev use complicated fuel pumps - the fuel and oxidizer were pushed into the engines by expanding nitrogen gas, thus eliminating a major cause of failure in rockets even today. Quite brilliant design.

Project orion investigated the potential use of nuclear weapons as a means for propulsion. To survive the forces the hypothetical ship would require some means of absorbing the shock. The gigantic piston at the back is a massive shield to absorb the heat and force with a small hole in the center that the nuke gets shot through.

The neat thing about the MUSTARD flight, is how the two other crafts, could've layed adjacent to each other, with the third one center top, saving tremendous slower burning fuel or jet-to-ramjet, at the first two atmospheres in a 3SSRTO 🛫✈.. 🛩 (R as Runway). Even dive verticle like a SpaceX Mell-Falcon almost halting at top of the stratosphere layer, avoiding sonic boom, switching to subsonic glide after wing form flipping, for quicker at target land waypoint.

*A moument epic story from CGI to offical concept crafts, you got in presintation* here, bravo!!👏. Very historical with most of these designs, kept remaining in the first launch sequal syndrome, never embarking *out-the-box* of this *verticle idiocracy bureacrocy* rerun attempts.
The flight path, up to the stratosphere, when you compare what the cost of a wing craft lift off with just jets & ramjet engines cost, versus a rocket, for just that *first stage* route, its nearly 10, 20 or 50x less than a rocket, depending on the rocket craft size, everything under the stratosphere ( & *kaman* line), is friendly to wings lift jets, ramjet, blade purpulsion and chem mix fuel afterburns, everything above it, friendly to rocket boosters, simple-form mass...
There is hundreds of ways to get into orbit!
e.g. One can also take MASSIVE infastructure crafts or vessels parked in orbit, like using *vHigh air ballons* using the same air fill as fuel. At its highest orbit known, as *merly the first stage act* ( guided by drones), than compress the air back and use some of it to continue evaluating, leterally rising the 'launch-pad' staging of the entire exo rocket, even closer, to blast off & easly catch parking in orbit velocity,
The SSRToL ( *R* as runway) *or* SSVToL is actually a *Phase* sequel, versus Stage classic.
e.g. ground to space rondavue *phase* is like - simple bulk air/blade purpulsion & wing lift (to Stratosphere), converting to jet after burner added task, than ramjet vhigh air attune, eventually fuel released (techinc to suggest) at *back of the ramjet cone* ( as simulated atmosphere) reaching the highest micro ion layer atmosphere while mix with afterburn static/ekectric ignition to function like a low atmosphere jet, in vhigh near exo ratio path, finally exirting pure rocket burned fuel which saved tremenously for the classic-like rocket boosters at exo orbits.
Without breaking the body into stages. NO minus wasted future weather scrub.
Phase convertions cruise path, NOT that intense compressed MONEY as fuel burn zenith path stage.
