Not one Maori can hold back tears when this song is being sung. We automatically get taken back to our past loved ones being carried out in a casket. 😭
no Maori, and no such cultural conotations for me, but this singing touches some common human string in me too...something like gospel. Not many europeans would sing like this anyway...
Not a Maori by any stretch of imagination, and I can't understand a word, but it's so touching I'm still crying... Such a beautiful tribute, a beautiful song and voices!
My mom surrendered to cancer after a 30 year battle... and went home to be with The LORD in 1992. Her name was Audrey. Thank you for this beautiful song.
Oct 2023 - Still playing this Heavenly Master-piece. Stan and Vince, 2 of NZ's most beloved Taonga's/Treasure's. I'm Samoan🇼🇸 but I have a deep love for the Maori culture. Dear Heavenly Father... if my soul-mate ain't Maori Wahine, just let me be single forever 😂🌹🇳🇿🇼🇸

ummmm. when you guys sang this song, and made this video, i don't think you knew the impact it would make on some of the people who watched it. your rendition/version of this song is so beautiful...from the family aspect, to the voices, to the harmonization, to the inflection...that it can easily bring tears to one's eyes. it really was a gift hearing/experiencing this video. ) =)
My dearest Uncle just passed yesterday. I'm here listening to this as due to Covid I can't be in New Zealand for his tangi (funeral). This will be sung first in Maori and then English as he is laid to rest, no doubt. Rest easy my sweet Uncle xxxx
Audrey was a neighbour of mine as kids growing up , her nickname as a kid was poodle because of her curly hair , I’ve lived overseas for 40 years , it’s amazing the things you stumble across on the internet , RIP
Hearing this song growing up at the marae, during the funerals and hearing the nannies wail. Ahhhh brings tears to my eyes and ache in my heart every time I hear this song
My grandmother was fighting breast cancer and she eventually won. Years down the line the fight came back and it was so ugggghh.... it was so much pain for her. Her might was still oh so strong. The night of her passing she called to me but I had told her I had things to do. I went to sleep and all I could hear is my mother calling out for my grandmother. All she wanted was a hug from me. Uggggh ma I love and miss you... your home now and I couldn’t be more happy for you Aulelei. I’ll see you when I see you ma!💙 stay strong to all those in the war against cancer. We aren’t promised tomorrow, but we are promised Heavenly Fathers love. Aloha and Alofa to all💕🤙🏽
o...m....g... I'm not a Maori.. but, I too could not hold back the tears. This is absolutely glorious, and so humbling to bear witness not only to the love of your lost one, but your collective love of God.. What a privilege it has been tonight to be able to hear this!
This was sung at my father in laws funeral too. Growing up as a kid in church there was always something about this song that made me listen. It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end like no hillsong EVER will.

Ah i came here from England in 1986 to have a look around and this video highlights precisely why i never left! Moved to tears at the beauty and emotion of this sound that is uniquely honest, uniquely Aotearoa and as fine a piece of gospel as anything worldwide! So sorry you lost Audrey but so thankful and joyful to hear this..
A glorious rendition, sung as if they meant every word! Have had this on repeat since I found it earlier today. Thank you! May the truth of it continue to reach many hearts ♥️ “Show Your Cross to me, Let it shine there in the darkness. To there I will be looking in life, in death let me rest in Thee” 😍

Blessings to you all!
The last girl was angel tupai. I’m trying to find the 2nd girl the one with the white jacket. A lot of the guys that sung are in a singing group called fortunate
Wow! I'm crying again. It's been a while since Audrey passed but this video still reduces me to sobbing and tears every time I see it. It is so beautiful and emotional. One, because of the powerful singing by some extremely gifted and talented people and two, because I knew Audrey and her family well back in the day in Christchurch, and that photo of her at the end of the video overwhelms me with emotion. Audrey played basketball for Minties and I played for a different club, Halswell and we struck up a friendship on and off the court. I have photos of her and her whanau. Audrey was a beautiful wahine and is still remembered with love by the basketball community in Christchurch. RIP Audrey.
Dealing with homeless rn, got this song on repeat. Gives me hope and reassurance that things will get better for me during this difficult time in my life

Love you all and thank you, thank you, thank you for the beautiful music.
+Joelisa Teregeyo this is amazingly beautiful bless you …. the feeling in the room singing this song was powerful something i will never ever forget xx
This video means so much to me. Just a month ago, my family received some heartbreaking news that my mom has Neuroendocrine cancer and that it is in a Terminal stage. She was told that she should get her affairs in order and that in their professional medical opinion she has 3 to 6 months. 2 of the Docs said afterward, that despite their medical opinion , God is the Only one who can make that decision and that we must not waver in our faith in Him. Such a blessing to have docs that believe that and encourage us to have faith. This just hit my heart in such a beautiful way. I felt the spirit very strongly.
This is both of my grandmothers' favorite song...one past away last year, and her funeral was on my birthday which is tomorrow...the other had an exploritory surgery done on her brain roughly 10 years ago now....they gave her limited time, and its been almost 10 years. When i lose her, ill lose everything. That woman is my life but it caused her to have a stroke and be full paralyzed on the right side..her speech is still only MAYBE 10% of what it was. I left church several years ago because i gave up on a LOT. I was angry. I was hurt. I was devastated. Id lost my best friend..the woman who raised me for a huge chunk of my childhood. Thank you for letting me be able to breathe through the rough time of always having the thought of the possibility that i could wake up one day to her being called home. Very much so needed. Love you all..god bless
