Liv is an absolute God send to you value her don't take her for granted a very dedicated woman
Behind every good man there's a better Woman
Liv-n on up 👍
U've got that right, Liv is a hum dinger, the salt of the earth..❤
would be nice to have story time on how father phil got his mechanical knowledge
If you look back through old videos he explains its been asked a few times in qanda llives before
@@gerardmcdonald2534 thank you
Ya, great idea.
@@gerardmcdonald2534yeah he has. Basically get stuck in yourself when things break
I’d say the school of hard knocks,
Gradient or fall on floor is very important to drain away all the liquid.
If you keep the wood chip down and turn it often it will break down and compost it will also stay drier. That helps because it’s a good idea to wait a year before spreading because the chip takes up the nutrients at first. When you muck out, If you put it in a heap and turn it often so it heats up and breaks down faster then you can use it the same year.
Liv is a wonderful farmer 👩🌾 Good luck 🤞.
We used wood chip once in a year we got desperately short of straw and found it rotted our galvanised posts so quickly
Potato grubber on back 0f 35 freshen up wood chip.😊
Good man Phil, super set up this year. Love seeing you try new things around the farm. Please God the wood chip works out very lucky for you. 🙏🏼
Could be a good idea to redesign the shed that's already there for calves, I'm thinking you might be onto a winner with the woodchip also,ps don't mess with livs pig fork😂😂
Liv is a propper grafter, you were a lucky guy finding her Phill 😊❤
I’d say what would sort all your problems would be to get the jearsy cross Breds out of sight and buy good strong British fr or holstine calves 👍
That would cost money
Was thinking the same thing 👍@@davidsheridan
We've been bedding down with wood chip for 4 yrs now. The cattle keep so much cleaner on it and soaks up the pee much better. Tend to leave the chip to spread for a good 18months as to let it brake down completely. If we get chance turn it in the heap just to help it brake down a bit more. Been told if it doesn't brake down completely there's a chance of nutrient lock up. Once it's like compost grass grows well afterwards 👍
Saying that our chip is much finer than yours thats been through a chipper not a shreader. Great vid good luck hope it works as well as it does with us 👍
Great to see a positive forward thinking farmer
Slan leat
Best of luck with everything on the farm 👍👍👍
Good video farming phil and liv ❤❤
Great video as usual. Good luck with all your projects.
Good luck 👍
Brillant Phil that girl liv is some woman to work fantastic people ye are
Lucky man Phil ..and do'nt you forget it👏💚❤️
Good video Phil and liv, busy as usual
Great video Phil. Nice set up (sick bay) enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Hello . I live in westcoast of Finland and I have found 2 pcs. of Massey 1200 , one Massey 1500 with V8 engine and one Massey 4840 . All of them are located 40 miles range . Happy days !
The Best of luck with your new calf's farmer Phil
Nice job Phil, and Liv it looks good the calves should be happy in there.
Woodchip works very good, very enjoyable video.
Fantastic video phil and liv looking forward to the next few month's to see how things go 👍😃
Nice job the sick pen is think the vet was right too get that sick pen up yeah I have used wood chip it’s sound the only downside is spreading it
Looks great phil
Great job Phil
Good video as always, woodchip is a brilliant idea, especially with the price of straw, good luck with the calfs.
Years ago they used to but bean straw in first then wheat straw
Good to see you getting ready before the calves arrive😂
I think the large wood chips is great. Kinda like baby slats with straw on top
Great video. Keep up the good work.
That’s more tree bark than proper wood chip. Not as good but should do ok. Hope you take advance of the nice grants you get for new sheds and not miss out on it.
Good stuff
I wouldn’t touch wood chip for a few reasons. Takes ages to rot down. And it heats up quickly and makes the bacteria grow. But that’s my opinion
Yes good idear famer Phil
If u can go in that shed with that Kongskilde seedbed preper and mix Woods chips or use something with S tines to mix it up or powerharrow
The difference having Lee on board is unreal. Every other year you would be chasing your tail on shed set up . Great to see progress. Continued success
Great video Phil as always 👌
What with the price of straw would you not sheet the dividing gates with Stokboard, it's easy washed and lasts forever.
Good depth of chip in there should be a big help.
I will be interested to see how you get on with the wood chips, I was on to teemore about those hutches on Friday as we have to do a herd test next week and if we get locked up we will need calf accommodation in a hurry and they looked like a good option , not cheap but we can have a home for 40 odd calves in a hurry.
Happy Sunday evening going to watch now our favourite farmers in the world.🌍
Diane I think your addicted ....with no cure in sight !
I wish you made a video of getting the woodchip into that spot.
U should get a turbo nozzle for the power washer would save so much time
How do you dispose of the woodchips at the end of the year when ur cleaning out the shed
Great job bright and air e ,the old was to dark ,,,but what's wrong with this shead just tidy it up a bit.
So how much were the 2 sick pens, you make such a point of not sponsored!! Phil
Enjoy your Beef.😊
Kenocox or omnicox is a broad spectrum disinfectant. Lime not good enough. Is shed airy enough if you block up with bales
Make sure no wood chip ends up in the slurry tank.. Maseratos and chip don’t work together.
I’m well aware of it😂
I was told that woodchip was high in acidity so when you spread it on the land it's bad for grass growth
What disinfection do you use??
Farmer P refreshes his wood chips. He gets his for "free" because of his tree business on the side.
Would you ever think about using precision microbes for the calves ?
Can be a good move as you say a shed meant for calves will be better. With the wood chip all depends on the cost compared to straw
Another great video Phil & liv farmer p seems to have his wood chip bedding of to a tee How's the twelve hundred coming on
Skidsteers are so ubiquitous in midwestern USA farm channels. Are they just not used in the Ireland, UK and European farms?
Like the way you make Liv carry the heavy end of the hutch ?????
'Equality in the workplace' 👍 😅
Will you reuse the mulch under bulls at the end of the year as I don't see calves braking down into dung and will take a long time to rot down
Old tractors in an old shed is unique
Old tractors in new shed no
Put windows in the old shed LOL😂
Easier spreading wood chip with the dung spreader spinning gently
Wood is goods for calf i have found over the pass 2 year with the straws not sure about the sick bay may need cover over
A steel rake you need
Phil calves need to be kept warm so I would think a good bed of straw would be better best of luck with the calves
Just wondering did de RSJ get bend / twisted bringing the loader in with the wood clips
Wood chip is a good job but no value in compost for spreading. Should drain well
I think your find woodchuck will make a lot of difference ro keeping the shed cleaner
Woodchip
how are you finding the calf price this year, look to be dearer over here.
Sick bay is a key to success hopefully ye won’t need it much but very important
Only problem I have with wood chip is how long it takes to rot down so you can put it out on the land it could be in the muck heap quite a while ??
Use it on tillage ground no problem then glad to c spring is coming
Phil what’s the cost of the call hutch with gates please?
See you haven't got your way scrapping those old grain bins .never likely to use them again
How much was the wood chip?
Why do you hang the bush from the roof in the shed? I have seen this before at farms so i figure there must be a reason.
Its a Male holly plant, it prevents ring worm, it works
Yes it does !
good video but I would not use wood chip you would get no dung
Pile for one year its better than dung
Oh I did not now
Wood chip is a good job been using it for years 6 inches deep is good enough for calves
If its chopped up kitchen units there will be alot of plastic in it
Think farmer p has used wood chip before
Need a foot r 16 ins to b happy do t same myself works grand
Dream on ha ha
Does it work with cows
🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪👍👍
Hey im a farming simulator Modder I would love to make your farm on the game but tbh i would need pictures of up high of the farm and i can put it in game and others can use it
A
Sound is terrible on this vlog
Sorry as I like your vlogs normally
Could ye hire a wood chipper and chip all the hedges cut
Your farm is a mess
It's a working farm
We just use woodchip and no straw. Works great
