I’m hoping that what they do is give all of the Blackbeard Pirate cards negative, crippling On Play effects to keep other Black leaders from having access to them, while giving them an array of toolbox Activate Main effects that are leader locked.
@@cannibal_crow1418 Not necessarily, he can still play other play styles. It's more that they can only function well within Blackbeard, which I'd say is similar to the Dressrosa package only really coming together under Rebecca.
My friend has been playing only Blue Doffy since OP01 solely because it's the only deck he could run Black Beard in because thats his favorite character. His time has finally come. He will truly become the villain of our locals now

Blackbeard might be the most important game-balancing Leader that EVER drops. He makes every Black deck that runs Gecko think twice and maybe alter their lists a bit so as to not auto-lose to him, which makes the rest of the game do a little better against Black in general. Also if he occupies even 10 - 20% of the meta, he gives creative off-meta leader builds more viability since Blackbeard players won't necessarily know when to activate his ability into a deck they rarely play or don't know what turns their opponent tends to use their crucial 'On Play' characters. I loathe the color Black (which turned the One Piece TCG into 'Removal Piece' as Strawhat Chris put it so funnily) and I never expected another Black leader to actually check the color itself lol.
@somethingcatchy4795 pudding, black maria, kid killer, kid blocker, sanji. These can deny blackbeard's skill but it is still troublesome for law since they can't draw with reiju as much
What if teach has cards that have really good effects/statline, with a negative on play effect to balance this that doesn’t activate if your leader is teach?
Blackbeard character card, activate main return 1 card from your opponents trash to the bottom of the deck that lists an "on play" effect, this cards effect for the turn is treated as the returned cards on "play effect" Other consept is that same effect but after it K.O.s an opponents card it triggers
The bb character idea that steals other characters on play is very good, would love to have something like that, also would like to see what some of his crewmates will do too

Plus you could rely on events(RedRoc, 3k Worlds, Gravity Blade) to control and bounce. But yeah, relying on Sentomaru and Blocker Kuma to cheat out Pacifistas could be a thing🤔 Again, I know more cards and info. Will be revealed but hey🤷🏻♂️
I don't think this will flip the meta. He will be a meta leader(if the support is there), the same way Nami is. If he would really shut down all those decks, then they wouldn't be played, which would lead to everyone playing decks that aren't relying on on play every turn, which then in turn means blackbeards ability does nothing and he will see less play. It's always a give and take. He will for sure diversify the meta though.
I feel like BB support will be characters with strong activate main/when attacking effects but will have neg on play effects (ex. Only play: discard 2 cards)
BB will kill yellow/blue and black,but funny enough imho will get clapped by the new red sanji as he himself does not want on play to give them rush is the perfect antagonist.
Yaay even less reasons to play Blue, fml😂😂😂 I was so excited to finally see some warlord support, only to be completely invalidated by blackbeard😂😂 I'm starting to wonder if I should change theme

So Gild Tesoro or Kalifa could become viable for card draw while gordon, raise max and black maria are unaffected.
What do you think about the new Sanji leader as a potential counter to this deck. With them showing both these off, it feels like sanji speeds the game up by being able to play out rush and activate when attacking effects the turn they're played, while blackbeard slows the game down by stopping the heavy on play meta we're currently in.
This also counters OP08 Zoo Zoro. Kind of. Yes OP08 chopper can still attack and fill the board but it will be more clunkoer and you cant do 4000k Alabasta Chopper into Hiking Bear/Karoo/Komachiyo combo.
There will probably be 3 types of top decks. BB>normal top tier decks>Red Sanji>BB We may have a truly balanced meta and not just 50% of big tournaments running the same 2 decks, and 1 deck not dominating every major event.
I saw BB and thought, man, it's gonna be just like the anime. My blue and yellow decks are SCARED! but he's only as good as his support as black has a ton of on play. Based on how certain cards have been recently (Black Maria), it doesn't inspire confidence...

Eb01 laboon seems better than Kuzan, it has counter but you don't get a card back

Sure he loses reiju and banpresto law but it also neuters every deck in the meta that could remove the bodies that law pumps out each turn and protects characters with “when attacking” effects. So Gild Tesoro or Kalifa could become viable for card draw while gordon, raise max and black maria are unaffected.
Definitely think it'll be a very impactful deck. Little sad blue decks are getting inheritpy nerf by this tho
