    Your honest and authentic way of designing something, your artistic talent and your attention to detail,
    combined with your calm, pleasant manner make your uploads very valuable in times of mostly artificial contents.
    Nice that the whole family contributed to this upload, great camera movements of your dad.
    This relaxing journey is very pleasant to watch - top notch!

    Leila - this video was AWESOME! As someone who does a lot of nature journaling myself, I was really happy to see you doing this in New Zealand. Check out John Muir Laws Nature Journal books, and videos, you might find them interesting, inspiring, and helpful. I live in Pennsylvania, USA or else I would SOOOOO love to go nature journaling with you. A couple tips that I share with people who do this also, is that i take some old socks, and cut the ends off to make a sock bracelet to clean my brushes while in the field. I also use waterbrushes to avoid dumping toxic paints in nature. They work very well. :) I love painting in nature because it forces us to be present and it relieves so much anxiety.

    • @LeilaAtaya
      @LeilaAtaya  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you :) 💗I used to do it all the time , now I do a bit less of it but it's such a good exercise no matter what your preferred painting style :) Funny you should say that about the sock I actually had an idea of making a wrist band with palette etc on it. Maybe one day...
      I find water brushes are a bit different in use (I do have them) and I do prefer to use the old-fashioned ones. If you are worried about the toxicity of paint ( and that is a real problem many people don't realise ) you can swap your toxic pigments for non toxic ones like for example cadmiums etc are now available in new non toxic formulas - better for nature and people ;) 💗

      @@LeilaAtaya Absolutely! I am thinking of starting a nature journal club here. I suffer from anxiety and focusing on nature journaling is very therapeutic. So are your videos! I need to share some of my work with you. Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos. I expect to see some nature journaling ones again in the future! 🙂

    My grandad used to do book binding as a hobby and he made himself a contraption out of two pieces of plywood with a hole drilled in each corner. Each hole had a long bolt and a wing nut so he could clamp books between the pieces of plywood. I don't know if the thing had a name of whether you can buy them.

    • @LeilaAtaya
      @LeilaAtaya  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds like a very useful tool. I don't do book binding really this was just out of necessity. I loved doing it so much though I might make it a more of a regular thing now 😀 Thanks so much for your comment 💗

    41:09 lol - you look a lot younger when you are in action out in the wild instead of your usual studio / “Kindergarten teaching mode” when you speak extra slow and low and put on extra makeup for the camera lights...
    Edit: what a beautiful country.
    Edit2: 45:48 I really like the sounds when you sketch, and all the different utensils and the sounds your movements make, even the wind in the microphone...

    Hello Flower : - I'm going through your "back catalogue", after joyfully finding you out-of-the-blue on here only a few days ago...... *All Great*, the tortoiseshell Ragdoll kitty drawing session being a current favourite = Love cats, but cannot own one due to A): living right next to a busy road, and B): there is a lot of the time **super loud** Rock music/70s Reggae playing in my house (my secondary school art teacher next door neighbour is away from home a lot!), and, that surely would not be fair on what are extremely sensitive ears feline wise......?!!. Also, at around 16:30 mins : -
    1 tip from an engineer - my "wheelhouse", it sure ain't freehand art !! - (you may know this anyway?), saw blades' teeth only work in one direction, and you were pulling it rather than pushing it...... the teeth, if the blade is fitted conventionally anyway, face forwards. If you make another "bespoke" sketchbook just the same way = simply slacken the hacksaw blade fully, take it out + turn it round 180 degrees and re-tension it. You will then be able to drag the blade over the papers' ends and cut a nice neat notch in it...... Just a little "teeep" (sorry, couldn't resist! - and, not a criticism, you own a truly heavenly accent!!!). You're my favourite Ruski-Wi..... not that the worlds' overflowing with them??!!. A long message - sorry, I bet you are busy, but I just hope you are keeping well in one of the most (still) locked-down countries on the planet. Good health to you + your family, and thank you sooo much for your time and effort making these posts. All the best, Nick.

    • @LeilaAtaya
      @LeilaAtaya  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey 😄 I’m in the similar situation regarding cats. Would love to have one but where I’m at the moment is not very suitable for a cat. And thank you for the tip. The problem I had when using the saw it that I didn’t have anything to clamp the paper with so I had to hold it with one hand and cut with the other. It made it unstable so it was a bit hard to put any pressure into + holding it up in front of a camera doesn’t help 😄
      And long comments are very welcome ❤️ that is what the comment section of for 😊 thank you, I’m glad you are enjoying the videos. I’ll make another cat video at some stage. 😸
