I'm a small part time seller. You said exactly what I was thinking. I do free shipping because I rarely go over 10oz so everything is between $4 and $6 so I just factor in additional five bucks. I hate the idea of selling something so cheap that the shipping matches or exceeds the cost of item. I know buyers are intelligent enough to know they're paying for the shipping in total price. But it's so much simpler to see just one price and be done.
I took your advice and started a FB business page. I have some nice deals, but no traffic. Please, please make that video on how to grow your FB business. Thanks! BTW, I love your videos. Especially the ones from the bins store. I am amazed at the things you find.
Short answer is because it’s run by the government and not public shareholders. They don’t have the freedom of ideas or innovation that a private corporation does, and you’re seeing the consequences of that 🙃
Where I live, which is a remote area of California, a lot of streets do not have direct mail delivery (i'm one of them) and because of it, get a free P.O. Box from the local post office. The employees there work very hard, especially with all the Amazon packages and other store deliveries. Hardly anyone here buys stamps anymore, but pay bills using a bill pay system offered by their bank. (I use B of A and it works great) . Last pack of forevers I purchased was over three years ago, and still have about ten left.
When people were celebrating the roll out of ground advantage, I was upset they were getting rid of 1st class. I knew the low prices were just temporary. Basically the roll out of ground advantage was just their way of eliminating a low cost tier.
Great video! On your advice about growing FB sales, can you do a video that focuses on the delivery or your FB sales? I’m not in a position to have strangers coming to my door all day. How are you doing this? Meeting people somewhere? I do have listings on FBMP but there is no movement at all so would love to try my own page but how to deliver? Thanks ☺️
Once USPS made that horrible deal with Amazon (where Amazon can dump their extra packages) it's been really bad pricing wise since more workers are needed and revenue is down drastically 😢
Our largest tracked envelope is (Australia) $8.50 (l send everything tracked) once you go above an envelope it goes from $11 to $16 to $19 and then it just escalates according to postcode. I use stamps because l can get them at half price at auction but the disadvantage of that is time, l can't just print out a label. But we still think it's worth it. Plus my customers LOVE it. No free ship unless l have to to be competitive. Our postage prices go up every year and they are constantly whining about losses. They experience loss because people turn to couriers because Auspost is expensive. With ebay you have to pay attention to increases in postage because you need to up your shipping price each time. If l was using ebay labels l would lose big time if l didn't up my postage costs. It's a real pest.
Don't use ebay labels. Ship on your own w/ Shippo or Ship Station or any of the free ones. Charge cost to credit card that gives you points or % back. That way you get something back. You have to upload the tracking #.
As a buyer, I refuse to buy a product that adds shipping after the fact. It's like paying sales tax, except you don't know the percentage. I want to know what I'm paying upfront.
They have losses every year since I understand they allow China to put thousands of packages into our postal system after shipped to our ports, and shipping them at Epacket prices, which are a lot lower than our costs!!
Shipping is not that difficult. Increases happen every 4th quarter. I do ALL free shipping. At the end of the year it should all break even. Give and take.
I noticed you said that the customer paid $9.xx and it cost you $7.xx with the eBay shipping discount. Do you not have it set so that the customer pays the discount price? maybe you can start by doing that if you don't already. I do calculated shipping (at eBay discounted rate)with a 50 cent handling fee. So the customer gets that discount.
The seller has to pay final value fees to eBay on the shipping, which is why sellers generally should not pass the discount onto the buyer. And that still does not always cover the FVF eBay charges us on shipping we charge, even if it is the exact amount it costs to ship.
Guess what? UPS brings boxes to USPS to deliver for them. Someone pays for UPS, and they don’t want to deliver it, so they bring it to USPS. Apparently USPS gives them a cut rate deal. Guess what else? USPS rural carriers don’t get paid as much as UPS drivers. Not even close. Not sure how UPS is so profitable that they can pay their drivers 6 figures, and USPS who just cut pay for many of their rural carriers (yours truly) is not profitable? How is that possible? Also, Amazon gives the packages they don’t want to deliver to USPS to deliver for them also. I hope Amazon gives all their packages to UPS and that UPS actually delivers them instead of dumping them on USPS. Prices are double for many things now - food, gas, heating oil, etc.…but rest assured, USPS is not profiting-it’s not a corporation like Amazon, UPS, Fedex.
USPS is the only way many items of small value can be sold on eBay. UPS and FedEx rates are much higher for lightweight and small items, on top of all the BS surcharges (residential and fuel are the big ones) and "adjustments" done in error which screw over shippers.

USPS goes to every house and business , every day, six days a week. How are they not the only shipping service and profitable?
Short answer is because it’s run by the government and not public shareholders. They don’t have the freedom of ideas or innovation that a private corporation does, and you’re seeing the consequences of that 🙃
USPS, government inefficiency as usual. I live in California and it sucks to mail to New York or the east zone.
eBay discount has gone from my account .. this happened a few weeks ago then it was fixed & now it’s gone again! It’s crazy high prices!
Thank you, I’ll seriously consider this. Looking forward to your FB ebook and video. 😊

Our shipping in Canada is minimum $13 and that’s with a discount it’s insane.
what is the lowest you can sell something and still profit?
Thanks Lindsey You Rock

I don't know why it should cost us more to ship to any state within the U.S. since the Postal service is Always going there Anyway every single day.

Shipping costs sucks day by day 😢❤love your videos

Ebay charged a customer $8 but charged me $12! I even bought the postage through them which I didn’t get cheaper price.

Lindey, ask Casey (Rockstar Flipper) he does flat rate. See what he says about it & what he thinks about calculated.
So should we all just do calculated shipping & add in like $1.50 to cover our packaging costs?
After the 1st of the year I'm done with shipping costs and eBay period. It's all just miserable, and I'm sick of it.
Ship everything, this year! 🏃🏻
Totally agree!
It is well known usps prices go up during the holidays
As a buyer, I refuse to buy a product that adds shipping after the fact. It's like paying sales tax, except you don't know the percentage. I want to know what I'm paying upfront.
I like your idea of sharing the shipping charge but I use Mercari shipping labels so no way to do this, just continue to build it onto the item cost
This hurts small businesses. Helps Amazon.
1st! Which gets me absolutely NOTHING! 😆👍
I appreciate you!! 😀
They have losses every year since I understand they allow China to put thousands of packages into our postal system after shipped to our ports, and shipping them at Epacket prices, which are a lot lower than our costs!!
Shipping prices will continue to increase no matter what the item is. It's unavoidable regardless what you sell.
I’ve also gone to more local sales.
Shipping is not that difficult. Increases happen every 4th quarter. I do ALL free shipping. At the end of the year it should all break even. Give and take.
lol😂 I do the same with gas
Right?! I just don't look LOL

Usps is garbage but how do you know what it used to cost
Take down your mailbox, then. Ship everything via FedEx.
@cidsanta4204 ok lol what mailbox
BTW I have an eBay store with 2800 items. STOP USING USPS they are a scam. Also I heard all Amazon will move from USPS to UPS.
Can you explain what you mean by”Scam”??
I never get a delivery by UPS that gets there without an issue! Usps is fast and always gets to the destination
@@Yazzie101I have rarely been disappointed in USPS!
