Arat Kilo - named for its distance (4kms) from a central landmark or starting point in Addis Ababa, likely referencing a historical point of measurement. The same applies to Amist (5km) Killo and Sidist (6km) Killo.
These places are so beautiful that they wouldn't have guessed if not for you guys, especially Ethiopia. Oh my gosh, we have been lied to far way too long. Thanks for opening up my eyes. Noella, these videos are really appreciated because you showed us places I never knew were so absolutely gorgeous ❤ thank you. Blessings
Arat Kilo seems to be a nice place. With all those lights it can be called the city of lights. I am witnessing a new and prosperous Ethiopia taking place.
All the lights at night make this place look so romantic and really gorgeous 😊 You werent really joking when we talked about how Addis Ababa is transforming so fast and beautifully 😍 Thank you for this video, Noella ❤️
Why is it called 4 kilo and 6 kilo, supposedly to refer to its 4km distance from the main palace, OR the four roads joining at the square. The monument represents a white obelisk where the scenes of massacre and the funerals of the victims are depicted. This monument is also called the Monument of Martyrs or Sidist Kilo ("Six Kilometer"), that is, the name of the quarter where the monument is located.
