Fun fact: In the Italian language, LoL censors the word God. Since there are some heavy swear and curse words involving god, which would be considered "unholy" normally, LoL just censors God and let's you understand which kind of "heavy swear" the other guy said in chat.
This reminds me of the English version of an online card game called Shadowverse. The whole thing is infested with various mythological references, from Pazuzu to judeo-christian archangels to Greek mythology to Quetzalcoatl. Anyway, in the Japanese/Korean/other European languages, there's a card quite explicitely called "Satan". In the English version, though, they went with the more euphemistic "Prince of Darkness". I think there's something similar with a card called "Heavenly Aegis" in English, which, iirc, is "God's Shield" or something to that effect in other languages. The weird thing is, they're fine with Zeus, including his summoning phrase "I am the Father, the God of All", so they aren't actually consoring the term "God" itself.

I like how when Pride event was introduced whole Reddit was crying how Turkey goverment shows homophoby for not allowing such an event, but when Riot banned Iran and Syria from league of legends, I never saw those fency Americans comments how sad they are about it, and I'am also sure that most of the Syrian and Iranian players who tried to visit Reddit in hope for help, just got their posts deleted by "superior intellect good looking" r/leagueoflegends mods.
Reddit users and twitter users "crying about pride issues" actually does not care at all whatsoever about any of this. They care only for the performative action, that is the act of boasting about being progressive, left-leaning and "liberal" (not classical liberal in any regard) They somehow mix authoritarinism in the most extreme way with liberalism, I don't understand how they can make it work on an intellectual level, let alone practical. It must be hard for them, being that full of hate and the whole world to direct it on. Oh how I pity them.
you're missing a big thing here: the pride event was a choice done by riot - had nothing to do with laws. They just assumed they make more money if they dont do it. the ban on syrian or iranian players is something they HAVE to do, because the US government would otherwise start a huge lawsuit
Its weird, Evelynn's base splash (in the champions collection > evelynn > skins, with the full splashes including base) on all servers has been censored on pc. Go to your champion collection and you see Evelynn, she still has the uncensored load-screen crop. Click on her and then click on Skins and there's her wild rift censored splash. Just a bizarre change since her load-in splash when you play a game is still the uncensored.
As a noob player with absolutely neither skill nor understanding of the game's concept I find it highly offensive that League exists. Riot should do something about that!
Jinx is my favorite character and I'm a long time Jinx main, and her Wild Rift model just confuses and infuriates me. Part of Jinx's character is that she doesn't care what other people think of her and she acts all wild and crazy all the time. Clothes take effort and consideration that Jinx simply doesn't want to spend, and part of it is her own wild eccentricity, which she expresses when she tells Ziggs in their short comic that she wasn't wearing a top in a restaurant because she was about to eat cake. Anyways, my point is the bandages/wrappings for her chest are antithetical to what they've established her as. Those take time to bind properly and make sure they are snug, thats time Jinx wouldn't care about and just skip it entirely so she could focus on her next big explosive instead. Now, I understand the censorship, but its still just really off putting for me as someone who has invested a lot of passion into the character. Unfortunately, any complaint I have about it will most likely just get seen as 'gamer boy wants fictional girl to wear less clothing cause he's pervy', so it makes it a frustrating opinion to articulate openly.
It's in the same line as the creation of Seraphine. Just watched a video on what Seraphine means to the lore of Runeterra and it's pretty much 0. Who knew she was from Piltover? I didn't, she clearly doesn't look the part. What's her aspirations as a champion? She "wants to help other people find their voice". That doesn't sound generic at all, I'm sure they put a lot of effort into that one. She was made to please the chinese playerbase, China has like 30 servers dedicated to them while almost all of America (South America excluded) has one combined. So they made a pop star skin that joined K/DA as a chinese singer and threw a 30$ skin on the release. Sorry, ranted a bit, I fully agree with you. The changes serve no purpose other than pleasing some minority that make their voices heard through Twitter, sucks really as a lore and world building lover of the game.
yeah thats a massive problem in most games. some characters are made to either not care about their clothing, or want to be light/nimble, and censorship removes the immersion, people (mostly twitter) will always try to make the case of ,,immersion isnt that important, and u are a perv'' but thats BS, assasins/rogues in video games cant have 50 kilos of armor, or some accesories like ,,boob bandage'' and still have the immersion. i dont remember the game, but there was this girl that was suicidal, she didnt care if she died as long as she pulled someone with her, and she had a loose T and some shorts, and she was .... busty i guess. and the company was forced to completely change her appearance, clothing wise and... genetically
@@TheLightBringer365 moderately secure wraps help with motion rather than hinders it, so that makes sense for rogues/assasins specifically, it's the same function/purpose as sports bras
@@Marcusjnmc wraps and armor have nothing in common, and Bandages are actually invented because there was no female armor so they needed to squish something down, iykyk, to fit the standard armor.
@@TheLightBringer365 ? standard armour irl, both european & japanese medieval armours by way of example, has a substancial curve on chest pieces to disapate force, everything fits in just fine, & bandages & wraps are the exact same thing, thin strips of cloth wrapped around many times to be used to secure , the only reason they'd be visible is in the case of 'armour' not protecting the chest or in fact not being armour at all as with assassins & rogues who prioritize motion over protection

You can check out on the Riot Games TH-cam account (not League of Legends) they have a new video titled Latinx smth and its ratio is insane. Plus the comments are all expressing their frustrations. Uhm, buddy nobody is trying protect anyone. The US government forced every american company and industry to stop trade and service with Iran, they are completely aware its going to fuck them (Iran) over in many ways.
ngl I think the "more clothed" version of the skins looked much better and added more personality to the characters. Clothing is a big part of the character design, and the lack of it also can tell a lot about a character, when most of your female characters lack clothing they also lack big design opportunities and start to look more and more the same. Seriously, just take a loot at Janna, she looks 200% better and much more interesting as a character. Too bad it takes actual laws to make Riot stop being lazy on their designs.
Ehm... I don't think universally applying the "more clothed is better" is the right way, either. Looking at the Janna example, she takes on a human form, but she is a wind spirit, and thus distinctly inhuman, what does she care about fashion or modesty? Without getting into better ways her design could show this, the scanty suit is odd and shows a lack of social awareness beyond "Ma'am, you'd best cover those up because... well just because!" But what does the more clothed version we see here do to communicate her character? It's just the uncannily scanty suit made longer, which makes it less of both. The extra material doesn't even look like it allows any airflow, like at all. Looking at the obvious example of the other side... yeah, Ashe needs to be wrapped in at least a couple layers of furs and leather, and adding anything to her outfit is a step in the right direction.
That's why Leona is one of my favorite champions design-wise. There was so much effort put into the design, and where a lot of champions lack personality due to Riot pushing for more sex-appeal, they could instead use clothing in better ways for characters whose personalities suit it well. Ofc Evelynn, who's literally a sex-demon, isn't gonna have normal clothing, but someone like Janna has a whole lot of missed design opportunities.
@@sirgallabad Leona is just wearing metal bikini over spandex. She also has an hourglass figure with no visible abs or muscles despite wielding a giant shield and a huge-ass sword. Let's not kid ourselves here.

I think the Wild Rift censorship unironically looks better on 90% of the champions it was given to. Really the only exceptions to that are in cases were it either A: isnt noticeable, or B: intentionally contradicts the point of the character.
Renaming the mafia skins was so upsetting to me because the mafia wasnt even exclusive to Italians, Russia also had a mafia and america had gangsters to say it was purely offensive to Italians is dumb and just deflective to the actual issue that they seem to care more about possible things someone might get upset by then fixing bugs in thier game.

God, the woke are annoying.
Welcome to the real world of equality and diversity
I really like how you spit facts right there. Keep it up champ
you're missing a big thing here:
the pride event was a choice done by riot - had nothing to do with laws. They just assumed they make more money if they dont do it.
the ban on syrian or iranian players is something they HAVE to do, because the US government would otherwise start a huge lawsuit
syrian and iranian players? How the hell they would play league, using bombs? dumbass

The Kitty Cat Katarina deeply offends my cat because he feel like I've found a better cat (not saying he's wrong though)

In the case of governments and geopolitics I get it. But when it's due to "incensitivity" it's always bullsht. A made up problem that requires resources to its solution. It's really sad. ngl I think the "more clothed" version of the skins looked much better and added more personality to the characters.
Yeah Janna defooo looks better
@The Frog King Iceborn don't immune to cold. They just have a very high resistance to cold.
