    People will glance over the fact that Mike made an artwork everyday for 13 years straight. While also letting VJ's use his animations for free at events like Coachella, and other music festivals. This guy has done tutorials, givin free content to people and stayed consistent for over a decade.
    Dont look at this as an overnight success or even something that was easy. Its really not and the odds of you being able to do any of this is incredibly low, especially if you are only going to get into art for money.

      Regardless of the input from the creator, you are paying something and getting nothing. And you are hoping to sell that nothing for more than you bought that nothing for. There is no substance or value to any of this. And the whole idea that people actually want digital art is bullshit. Nobody wants to say I spent millions on a few pixels. There is no demand for this art. The only reason people are jumping on this is because people are jumping on this. This is nonsense.

      Sure, he worked for 5000 days (13.7 years), but 69 million dollars is a massive amount of money. It's $13,800 per day. More or less depending on what Ethereum does unless he sells them for dollars. Is a single day of creating a pretty picture worth 6 months of wages of a random person?

  • @akastenas
    @akastenas 3 ปีที่แล้ว +42

    It's almost we are living in an absurd parallel world since 2020.
    The purpose of NFT is not art, it is creating/duplicating your money. You create art, your rich friend buys it. You give money back, keep the art. The art becomes a token of what has been paid. You liquidate the token, get real money, someone else can inflate it and sell to someone else.
    It's basically creating tokens of real money and later selling them for real money, while the owner is left worth the "idea" of value.
    Quite genius really, however highly highly manipulated. Not relevant either.

      @@alexanderperez2732Exactly ! imagine to sell to each people of earth one dvd of a movie. and sell them the same movie on a streaming service. the infrastructure and the cost are way important for a materialsed society. Netflix first started by renting dvds but noticed the limit. The danger of this dematerialised society would be that you ain't the real "owner" of your content , so companies could change your property (like the original Star Wars ) according to new standarts and that can be a very dangerous perspective. the blockchain can avoid this 1984 world by proving to all the system you are the owner of a non censored product.

    This has been amusing. While everyone is scrambling, trying to figure our how this could have happened, I'm just sitting here laughing my ass off because this is also how the fine art market works. NFTs just point to the absurdity of the things we assign value to. There's no debate on whether or not digital art has intrinsic value, because all art is worthless... And I'm saying this as an artist.

      I always figured fine art that sells for millions was just money laundering. It's one of the only large sales that doesn't require a form for transactions over 10,000 (form 8300 in the states).
      Just saying, these NFTs seem like a great way to scrub dirty money. A good percentage of the market is probably funded by human trafficking.
      It's pretty rare for someone to throw away millions because of 'intrinsic value'. Most people are hoping to sell it for more than they bought, or they're just trying to clean their money. In other words, I can buy an NFT for 50,000, then I can sell it to my buddy for 100,00, he can sell it to another buddy for 150,000 - we just cleaned 250,000. Then we can sell it to someone we don't know for 300,000 because either they too are laundering their money, or they just think they can sell for 350,000 based on the history. So there we go, 250,000 cleaned for free, and it doesn't look suspicious since it's just a couple transactions on a longer chain.
      Looks to me like the whole NFT market is made of criminals and gamblers, but at least artists get some money out of it, dirty as it may be.

Unsure if waltzing into a courtroom with 'NFTs' and nothing else, would be good enough for a judge.
