I have to agree! I was surprised by a lot of your questions and was like "That's interesting!" or " That's a fun question!" And I found myself finding my own answers to some of the questions or having to pause to continue the conversation myself with my husband. Wonderful job! I shall re-watch!

Love is a feeling, receiving. Love in truest sense is giving, not receiving. It is a calling to be married to someone, a life journey that is pure hard work, all giving because of teamwork, great communication, respect and most of all, unconditional love. Mistakes, failures are learning experiences, they prepare us for something greater later in life. Living with God and being In God each day requires lots of imagination, and whomever has lots of imagination has lots of fun. God is powerful, so praying and receiving Eucharists each day is by far the Fountain of Youth and receiving a lot more blessings

1:10:10 One thing Fr. Mike would like us to know about him (I tried to paraphrase but please listen)
On the surface, he's an introvert. And so, he likes people but gets recharged by being alone. But that's not something that matters really in the big picture of things...He, like all of us, is no exception to walking wounded, but also recognizes that the Lord Jesus loves Fr. Mike in his woundedness, and He continues to call and use Fr. Mike in his woundedness. He wants people to know his level of woundedness and his need for prayers.

"One cup to two pots in any given day." I don't think I have ever related to anyone more. 😂
I love that he has a conversion story that isn't flashy/showy/ and huge. It just shows that small, quiet changes can still be huge. So beautiful.
I'm 19 and he really hit the nail on the head when he described our biggest struggles now. Great message.
    Thank you both.

This was fantastic 👏! I have a question I have been struggling with my 12 daughter for months now. She wants nothing to do with the catholic church because of a very bad experience we had with our priest from the church that I had gone to since I been in high school. She went to a Baptist church with my best friend while on a sleep over and now that she says she wants to go there. We have changed churches because we had to and she still refuses to participate anymore. She says she only wants to go there because that's where she enjoys learning about the lord and she can understand the pastor. What am I to do me and my husband just want her to love God. All of this stems from the situations going at our old church unfortunately and I have brain damage so I missed some of it. What should we do take her to both or do you think that would confuse her? Thanks so much for all that you do!

    • @MatthewKellyAuthor
      @MatthewKellyAuthor  ปีที่แล้ว +3

This may not be the answer you were looking for, Kimberly, but the best thing you can do is be an authentic witness to the truth of Catholicism. Live it, and live it well. Your daughter is looking for something inspiring, so the truth needs to be made real to her.

@@MatthewKellyAuthor Yes, it did. Your questions were clearly well considered to suit Father Mike's character and at once elicit responses that would meaningfully appeal to your considered audience, namely those who appreciate God's grace through Father Mike.
Meanwhile, I have read one or two of your earlier books and remain grateful for your contributions to the Catholic world like another light of hope in a darkened world. May God bless you for that.
Perhaps you may wish to interview even more Catholic TH-cam speakers like Bishop Barron. In any case, I wish you peace and good health.

This is a great interview to watch over again! I am going through a tough time not feeling well but this interview so made my day better! And Father Mike totally made me laugh! lol The story of when he said " What are you a big Jesus freak or something??" So funny! On a side note when he mentioned how much coffee he drinks I had to say " THAT'S why!! THAT'S why he speaks so fast!" lol I had to laugh at that too but I am concerned because drinking that much coffee is super bad for the heart over time and super bad for the esophagus. I pray for Father Mike that he shall at least become more moderate in his coffee drinking! Blessings!

Two great people that I follow! Thank you for sharing this interview Mathew. It’s great to get to know you more Fr Mike! I appreciate your words of wisdom esp when you talked about marriage and understanding your spouse. Made me laugh about things husbands and wives do that can drive each of them crazy and trying to except them for who they are! It’s been 23 years and My husband and I seem to tease each other and laugh together about the things we both do to drive each other crazy but we do love each other unconditionally and have learned to except those things too😁.
I work with 10th grade CCD program and I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on todays youth. I try to be someone who is there to listen to them and try to help them understand they were born for a purpose and their life has meaning and trying to get them to understand how to pray and ask God to guide them and give them understanding if they have a problem and just giving of their time to sit and be at peace in His presence. Thank you!

Another thing that is helping me is the book you sent with Bishop Fulton Sheene's quotes. I use it every day. I really want to send you a copy of each of my cds cause right now we are in financial hardship since my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer in July of 21 and our income has decreased quite significantly. I do pray for you and Fr. Mark's ministries and was delighted to see that podcast. May God hold you both to His Sacred Heart and Mother Mary protect you under Her mantle . Could I mail those to the address on your correspondence or is there a better place to insure you receive them?

I'd love to hear people's thoughts on doubt. Doubt plagues me.
Why? I have trust issues with other humans and the people who spread the Gospel were human!
Every day I pray "Jesus, give me a sign as I struggle to trust what fallible humans have said and continue to say".
    I am still waiting!

I really like his point that we are not accidents. I was told be my parents I was an accident. My mother was on the pill and got pregnant anyway….sounds intentional to me! We have such a culture of “accidental” pregnancies. It’s very sad that creation of a child is portrayed that way. My family was not religious but my parents converted to Catholicism in their 60’s. After their death I became Catholic last year and have found so much joy, especially every time I receive the Eucharist. I am so thankful God created me and saved me from abuse, mental illness and shame. He saved me in order for me to come to Him in such a profound and beautiful way! Father Mike, you’ve been a great resource for a new Catholic and I just finished Bible in a Year last week! Loving learning about our faith in CIY! Thank you. Praise God!

How do you actually understand John6:63? What flesh is Jesus speaking of here? It certainly can’t be His flesh, simply because He does not say,My flesh profits nothing. Not to mention that just a few verses prior, He just got through saying His flesh is real food and His blood is real drink. Do does His flesh as food and drink not profit nothing? What about no life in you. How can His flesh profit nothing if by not obeying and eating His flesh and drinking His blood you have no life in you. Hardly makes sense doesn’t it. So who do you think is really missing the whole issue regarding John 6?
It is very easy for someone to say, oh that’s just symbolic, but much harder to prove just as Fr. Mike mentioned in His video.

He CHOSE to become a priest with his full consent and vowed to serve the Lord in any way He will lead him. And that’s the Father Mike that we see and love today. He is full of the Spirit of God. Thank you Jesus for the gift of him and Fr. Mark Goring and Sr. Miriam James and others. They’re all gifts to us from God. I pray for priests every single day. May God protect them from all evil and use them for His glory. 🙏✝️😇

My Mom still has the antlers of his first buck hanging in her living room! In another piece, you speak about using a rifle, it sounds like either you became a hunter, or were one at some time?

I hate to say this but the people who try Christian AA are much harder to treat than those who use secular AA. The Christian AA tend to wait for a miracle that will take the pain of addiction away and think less about the work they have to do to achieve sobriety. They think Jesus is going to magically pull them together. A woman that I know had the perfect answer for a fellow who was waiting for Jesus. She said you have your miracle and that miracle is AA. AA is a deep exploration of self and correction. Not just go along unchanged and unenlightened waiting for Jesus to do magic on you and everything is done. Christians take offense at the secular AA program because it refers to your higher power and does not specifically name God, Jesus and Holy Spirit so they have their own version of the AA book that names God.
