I am a 49ers fan 4 life, I believe Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Tom Brady, belong on Mount Rushmore. but the best player I have ever witnessed with my eyes since 1980 is (Lawrence Taylor# 56) he is the greatest football player I have ever seen period. There is not enough superlatives to Explain his greatness! When you wanna show a Business or a sports team how to succeed just put on the tape of Lawrence Taylor and watch his tenaciousness, resilience, his intestinal fortitude, The moxie that he breathes, the never give up Attitude, quitting & failure is not an option, his unquenchable fire to succeed, I’ve never seen any human step on a Football field like him. Thank you MR. LAWRENCE TAYLOR #56.
And, for all the physical violence and domination - I don't remember anyone ever accusing him of being a dirty player. Hell, he was the first guy up and waving to the sideline to get medical attention out there after the Theisman hit that broke Theisman's leg.
I have got to agree with you. Jerry Rice is up there in talk of the greatest NFL player of all time but LT's play made opposing Coaches change their entire offensive schemes to try and slow down LT. LT's play also changed how defense was played as every other NFL team was trying to draft the next LT! For that reason, I would put LT above Rice, Montana, etc… as the all-time Greatest NFL player
I live in Chicago where linebackers are highly regarded (Butkus, Singletary, Marshall etc). Whenever there's a discussion either with friends or hearing things on TV or radio everyone here wants to talk about those I mentioned or the "Monsters of the Midway". But I shake my head and say Lawrence Taylor beats any of them. He changed the game. His abilities were unreal. He didn't just rush the QB, he tore up running plays. I get a lot of opposition but greatness cannot be denied. Lawrence Taylor is without any doubt the greatest linebacker to play the game and maybe the best player ever. I like the Bears and their defensive players but LT transcends them all.
smokestack29 As good as Chicago's LB's were, no ten could approach the talent and depth that the Giants had from the late '70's through 1988 or so. I mean come and get real; Taylor,Banks,Carson,Reasons,Pepper,Van Pelt,Kelly,Byron Hunt another only lb faster than LT Andy Headon. Talent and depth beyond anything before or since. Most forget that LT was injured and missed almost all of the 2ND half of the NFC Championship game vs The Skins in '86 (17-0.NYG) . Parcells moved Banks to LT's Position and rotated Hunt, Headon, Reasons and Pepper to play Carl's strong side position as well as their usual (Johnson & Banks) inside lb slot. When asked about it after the game Big Bill just said, " As expected, we didn't miss a beat" . Exact quote
Thanks for reminding me of those lesser heralded Giants LB's. Brad Kelley and Byron hunt were ridiculously outstanding and Andy Headen was really fast. Gary Reasons just doesn't get enough credit.I will never forget his play on 4th and goal against Denver in 1990. That was some major 'backer play. A matter of fact that goal line stand was just epic, fires me up every time I see it. There was some serious linebacker play going on then. It was so fun to watch.
I never liked the Giants, but I loved LT. We use to refer to him as, "The DEMON!" That's the most perfect way to describe the hell he brought against the offense. I still wonder if he made a deal with the devil. I mean, how many guys can drink, do blow and still reign hellfire on the field in the same hour. No mortal could take that.
There has NEVER been a more impactful NFL player in the history of the game, than LT. He is hands down the greatest NFL player to have ever stepped on a field....PERIOD.
You know your the GOAT when you literally change the game of football by the way he played. #theblindside. Pound for pound, he is the greatest football player of all time.

Rumored to be a 4.5 but if you understand anything about Lawrence Taylor’s mentality, his 40 yard dash didn’t matter. His animalistic mindset was so incredible to where he was capable of running a 4.1 in game with pads on. That interception against the lions where he returned it 97 yards, you can time it for yourself he ran from the 3 yard line to the 40 in almost exactly 4 seconds. He was much faster in game even with pads on because he was just that different breed of relentless and incredible will to win.
Great video. The play at 2:56 I haven't seen in any other tribute to LT, and it may be his best play ever. He literally split a double team, saw the Gerald Riggs pass him with the ball and then turned around and split the same double team again, chased Riggs down and stripped the ball. In fact, that whole 1st half of that game he was on another level.
His leap when tackling is terrifying, and yet so beautiful. Plus, if you watch the way he tackles, he always wraps up his man, or tackled them with one arm. Never used the top of his helmet. Text book.
I'll say the same thing I've been saying for more than 30 years now. He'd be my #1 draft pick all time, without hesitation. I still go with Jerry Rice as being the best football player ever but LT was so great that I don't put up much of an argument when people say lt was the best ever

That int for 95 yards watching him run that fast is unreal! I always made sure to watch as many of his games as I could. You knew you were watching something special!
The thing I find hilarious is I have heard people argue the following guys as better than LT: Dick Butkus and Ray Lewis. All I have to say are these 3 "words": 1986 NFL MVP.
In my opinion, Lawrence Taylor is the greatest Football player that ever played in the NFL...hands down!
As much as I'd love to agree, I can't. I'm a Giants season ticket holder since 1961. The greatest to ever play the game was Gayle Sayers.

I was born and raised in Texas my family is from the north we Bleed Blue I got to be the biggest Giants fan in Texas that video was so damn cool sack fumble f*** a sack get the football awesome f****** video
My favorite player of all time is Jerry Rice (born and raised in the Bay) but i could watch Lawrence Taylor all day.. Damn
Best player of all time....and whoever wants to argue name anyone he wouldnt destroy
Best tribute ever
Lawrence Taylor greatest Defensive player, Earl Campbell in my opinion greatest offensive player. Go Big Blue 🔵
And people think he “just” a pass rusher. LT lined up at Middle LB on short yardage/ goal line defence. The most dominant player I have seen in the last 30 years and I am a Cowboys fan
LT wasn't a linebacker he was a freaking velociraptor in a giants football jersey! Once he got locked in on you holy crap it was over!
Great video!
Lt is the best player I’ve seen he’s the only guy I’ve ever seen that could control a game on the defensive side
That int for 95 yards watching him run that fast is unreal! I always made sure to watch as many of his games as I could. You knew you were watching something special!
You know, people do underrate Lawrence.... Really..... we say that he was before his time not often enough, should do it more
he was the best to ever do it,he was as fast as a cobra striking at the quarterback
Thank you for showing Lawrence Taylor's play and not some commentator running his mouth. (John Madden I don't mind.)
The thing I find hilarious is I have heard people argue the following guys as better than LT: Dick Butkus and Ray Lewis. All I have to say are these 3 "words": 1986 NFL MVP.
Butkus didnt have the speed to compare him to LT...everything else could be debatable but why waste time doing that.... LT= G.O.A.T.

BUTKUS received the defensive player of the year award on a HORRIBLE team.
@@michaelewert8310 He didn't.
@@iamhungey12345 1969 and 1970 voted defensive player of the year by his peers.
he was unstoppable
this guy was absolutely a freak combination of power, speed, and smarts.
All of that an a Huger to Win.. Sets him apart from the rest.. He played like it was life or death!
The GOAT
Absolutely changed the game
