I like this blue creature for some reason. Even though it was troublesome for Jack in the episode it really meant no harm and was kind of adorable.

It thought Jack had died.
@@zatoby6705 I know which is why it’s so sad :(
He's a good friend
I feel like these robots were built by a mad scientist who realized that combat ability in his universe is determined by "coolness", and that the reason Jack is invincible is because samurai are cool and he does everything so stylishly. So, to defeat Jack, he built four robots designed for maximum style and personality and gave them their own theme music. And sure enough, as long as their theme music was playing they were as unstoppable as Jack at his best.

Boy, did I remember this or what? That creature went bananas on those scrapheaps after they tried to hurt Jack. Beware the nice ones.
I see many people complaining about Jack's prowess inconsistency here, but I believe this is an important part of episodic shows like this one. There are minor inconsistencies that are put into the show to play with different scenarios and interesting outcomes. Had Jack effortlessly beaten these random robots, we wouldn't have this awesome creature transformation. On top of that, these moments allows to see Jack vulnerable's side, reminding us that: he is still human, he is not the perfect warrior, he is not unbeatable, he has some high and low moments in his career.
Other examples we can see:
1.- Jack is fighting some robots but loses his wooden shoe, he replaces it with high heel blade shoes which made him a fighting beast, but got embarassed when told he looked like a woman, so he fled the scene in embarassment.
2.- Jack and the Scotsman are fighting some robots, not an extraordinary army, but somehow they end winded and contemplating death. This was just to lead up to the Scotsman's wife to get into the fight and decimate the entire army and the powerful bad guy that took her prisoner in the first place.
3.- Jack gets fooled by a monster to get eaten, the mini episode just ends with him inside the belly.
We all know Jack is still alive thanks to an inmense ammount of luck along with his fighting skills.
As a side note, another show that uses these inconsistencies a lot is Megas XLR, and that show rocks. Sometimes Megas can obliterate an entire colony of giant space worms whitout damaging the space colony, others it can't do shit when it runs out of missiles.
Megas XLR is played entirely for laughs. Samurai Jack is a mostly serious show.
These robots should have been made OP, and Jack should have been portrayed as already injured, to justify how they could have beaten someone could have otherwise made short work of them in ten seconds
right, many shows get this wrong, the main character always has that "unbeatable aura", so it's always nice to see their asses kicked sometimes. Makes their other victories feel more "earned"
@@wowalamoiz9489 It isn't as if there has never been an opponent who posed a threat to Jack before. There were those lion-headed guys who defeated him once already. He had to really struggle for victory against the "Ultra-robots" in their titular episode and would've died without a literal deus ex machina. We can assume that these 1950s-themed robots were probably Aku's top assassins.

people don't realize that paralysis darts could be injected anywhere and not JUST affect that one part. Similar to tranq darts, the paralysis serum is injected in multiple points on his arm. so it'd run up to his shoulder, to the chest, to the neck, and eventually most of his upper body. That would be enough to hinder his fighting abilities no matter how good he is. So it really was just unfortunate, but it's a lesson in which no matter how good you are. Anyone could kill anyone.
Kinda weird that Aku didn't take notes from this, assuming he's watching him almost constantly.

This scene is pure genius, one of the best action scenes in the series.
Probably the most underrated episode of the entire series. The Creature made a good partnership with Jack, and contrasts him so good as Scottman. Jack getting his ass kicked by 4 random, irrelevant robots really surprised me , Jack never loses to mere henchmen, but here it happened. That pissed off some people but It's nice to see that the series hasn't put him on an invincible pedestal. I don't think Jack was nerfed, he was just caught in a trap that paralyzed his arm, that's why he lost.
It is nice when they remind you the protagonist isn't invincible. Its the same reason everyone loves the Minions of Set.
although mind you, it isn’t the first time he lost a battle before.
He and the Scotsman would have die at the hand of the demon horde if the Scotsman’s wife wasn’t there.
My main gripe with it is that it's a bit inconsistent and makes Jack look sort of incompetent just for the sake of needing to be rescued, but I guess you can assume that the darts hitting Jack's arm was just a lucky shot, and he would've found some way out of it even if the Totoro creature hadn't hulked out to save him.
Well some People just are too dumb to realize that stuff like that makes good writing. Jack is not invincible. All Heroes who are still Humans can have a Bad Day, can get sick or make a mistake. And here we clearly see why he was vulnerable. But even when it makes Sense why thats the Case. You still get Idiotic People who think Logic is bad or being a immortal Super Being that can destroy entire Armys without having a bad Day would be cool or good writing.
When that robot fired the darts, Jack slashed up Tony and jumped out of the way, and then he got hit by the darts when he landed. Which means if he didn't jump out of the way those darts would've missed him by a mile, and it was a total fluke that he was hit.
Also, I loved the music.
They're robots so perhaps they predicted he would do that by running some program?
@@Dilopho No other robot's ever done that, so it's pretty unlikely. And the way his tinker toy eyes zoomed in right afterwards, could've been a moment of disbelief over landing an impossible shot.
@@pirateraider1708 just beacuse no other robot does it means that this one didn't, since they are manufactured by different people or companies robots have different attributes and uses

Aku in malay is "me"
Akuma translation in Japanese means demon
I though aku meant evil in Chinese
Aku is also a tree
This is getting out of hand.
emi remember this episode is the creature that keeps following samurai jack and ate the dime that could take me back to the past
I like the creature saving Jack, but it's an embarrassment that Jack needed the creature's help to defeat these 4 machines that got lucky in paralyzing one of Jack's arms. Jack should have been more than enough to defeat these robots since Jack has previously faced far more formidable robots and prevailed.
What you forgot is after they landing the lucky shot on his arm, he lost his sowrd and pretty much half of thenstrength he had on hand, even thojgh the robot's may not have been as threatening a little bit of bad luck escalated the danger quickly
@@jdkusch8749 I didn't forget anything because it's still an embarrassment on Jack's record that these 4 robots were lucky enough to almost defeat Samurai Jack, even though Jack has faced far more formidable adversaries and prevailed. Plus, Jack is as well trained in unarmed combat as he is in sword combat.
@@jdkusch8749 even with one arm Jack should still definitely be able to beat these 4. The car was their biggest advantage and after it was destroyed it’s weird that Jack would even waste time dodging their attacks instead of just slicing them to pieces as soon as they approached him.
@@k-im perhaps the paralyzing had not only stopped his arm, but slowed him as well? Not saying your wrong, but there must have been something from stopping jack from just beating them. The only thing I could think of is that that paralysis dart he got hit from bad luck (which, let's face it, is going to happen, you're not going to have the best of luck at all times) possibly slowed his reactions and movement as well.
He was complete in anything how the heck did he lose?
Jack was strong and fast enough to defeat six famous bounty hunters during a coordinated surprise attack against him before a drop of water hit the ground, yet he struggles to fight a group of greaser robots? How does that work? Jack should have shredded them before they could raise their weapons.
I know right. How even Jack struggling with these junk Robot family.
@@daniishere1009 He wasn't taking them seriously.
@@TheJerknoid Does not matter. Jack should annihilated them without any problem. After all Jack destroy tougher enemies without taking them serious.
Welp this before that I do believe and plus he was probably taking in a lot of information at once
Jack wasn't having any issues handling them until he got hit by those tranquilizers. It's important to note that it wasn't Jack just not paying attention to the weapon (although It's shown how to be much quieter than a gun), it was most likely a lucky shots since they show us that he fired before Jack jumps behind the big orange one. Sugesting that, the shinny one missed, and Jack happen to jump into the line of fire when trying to avoid the shot. Doesn't matter if you're the best fighter in the world if you're opponents so bad that there impossible to predict.
Never piss-off Totoro.
Jack had an easier time taking on Aku than he did with the Greaser Bots. Good thing My Neighbor Totoro was there.

I wonder what happened to this creature. It seemed like it would never leave Jack’s side yet in the next episode he’s gone.
I would assume that since Jack mentioned seeing a small village ahead of them that the creature found another companion and stayed there to help defend the village. He was just lonely.

When we talk about one of the fewest enemies Jack literally could not defeat, and needed someone/something other to defeat them for him, these gang is surprisingly not often mentioned but they are out there. Sure, Jack was outnumbered and was taken off guard but still, the fact remains that * he lost that fight* and would have *died* if the creature didn't help him.
part of the problem was that it was an open field. jack is best at CQC where grace and skill of the blade are more usable, and acrobatics and dodging is easier. an open field fighting an enemy with ranged weaponry is just not his strong suit. he is a duelist and a warrior, but he is not a soldier if that makes sense
Now the real question is who would win in a fight between this guy and the Night Feeder from primal?
Oh that be an awesome fight good thinking!
Depends of how durable this thing is, the night feeder is simply to fast and it could slyce it before it can react
