    I think for opening amplifiers I'd recommend unplugin them and then turning them on to make sure the capacitors don't hold any charge. They could be dangerous.

    i fixed my input selector with a quick and easy fix...i took the straw
    for my canned air and crushed it in a vice. This allowed me the
    clearance needed to get in those spaces behind the knobs and dials
    without opening up the unit. I just sprayed it in there while turning
    the knob a few times. Spray from different angles so you crosss-spray
    the potentiometer. Good Luck. Worked great for me.

    Thanks, just what I needed. Have a technics that I need to remove front panel to fix dry joint .
    But I needed to unclip remote switch.
    Now I see you used long nose tweezers to unclip.
    After I've done the dry joint reflow I can also clean like you show here.
    Volume control knob is scratchy just like input selector so that's another story...
    But this helps for two things.

    tried the solution on my parents Yamaha receiver, the input nob was causing the sound to drop in / out. Appears to have worked like a champ, not bad for $5 from a large superstore. Now I have to spend five more to spray out all the dust in this thing! Thank you for the post!
    Oh, anyone with tips on an onkyo that seems like the DSP is broken, I need a fix for that as that one is my current receiver.

    could you use wd-40

    • @rp61productions
      @rp61productions 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's what I used on my Kenwood amp and it seems to have done the trick, I recommend using it minimally though and not like some have done in other videos where they've used like a quarter of the can on one pot. If possible leave amp cover off or just wait from fixing screws back yet to see if it's worked, you can always unplug and repeat again if it wasn't quite enough..

      @@rp61productions wd 40 now makes electronic cleaner spray, i would guess that would be ok...But from what I have read on other sites....regular wd 40 or pb blast ect. Is likely to cause major problems in the long run.. i just bought CRC brand electronic spray cleaner...those type of cleaners evaporate relatively fast.....wd 40 ect .leave oily residue and will damage internal parts beyond repair is what several electronic technicians have told me... I am just trying to learn this myself and not at all trying to sound like I know it all. Lol. Because I certainly dont know it all!.. lol....
