Terrific presentation Mathew. I like the positive culture aspect and the ability to block out any negativity if something deteriorates. Even TH-cam threads deteriorate with trolls from time to time. Thanks a bunch from Australia
I love this video. Thank you so much for posting it. I have an X account but never use it. I am looking at going to Bluesky but want to check it out well before I do my setup. This video is among the most helpful to be able to do that. Please know how much I appreciate it. Have a great day. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Hi, Matthew, thanks for the tute. I joined BS when it started but just added an account & a handle, etc & left it. I did the same with Threads. Sort of like holding my place, lol. Anyway, is there anything like "Trending" on BS? I don't think I heard you mention it. Thanks~
Thanks for all the info! I started to try to have a presence on Spoutable, Threads, and a few others but to no avail. Being able to migrate over those I follow on X will be a great help to get things rolling. Can that migration process also work with Facebook?
It looks like a third party app called deck.blue/ does allow you to have a scheduled-send option and maybe an option to save drafts. It looks a lot like TweetDeck.
I'm a veteran of using forums, but I'm finding it impossible to figure out, when someone responds to one of my posts in bluesky, which post of mine they are actually responding to.
Unfortuntely I can't post screenshot here, but I typically just to go notifications and click on the response. That shows my original comment at the top and then the responses below. Click on the response in Notifications. Then pull down on the response to see your original post at the top.
@@MatthewRathbun When I click on the response text, or the little return arrow or the "reply to you", it just shows me the response itself without all the other responses. And none of the clickable icons on the screen offer any method to get to the post to which they were responding. It's new software. Probably just needs some tweaking.
@@MatthewRathbun I found one difference between bluesky and x. When I click on the post in X, it opens in its own screen and adds a date and time stamp. When I click on that I can see the post it is responding to. Sadly, in blusky it also includes the date and timestamp, but it's not clickable.
@@MatthewRathbun I found the problem. I should have thought about this. I use the AVAST browser. It is sometimes quirky with banking sites and some popups. When I opened my account in Chrome, it did exactly what you said. Thanks!
I've had a BS account almost since the beginning and over the past year, still not excited about the content and now the migration of obnoxious libs from X makes it way too annoying. Definitely doesn't compare to Twitter in the old days, imo
I guess its about what you make of it. I had a Twitter account soon after it rolled out and lived on it for the better part of 10 years. Even before Elon it was being overrun with bots, spam and hateful political rhetoric from both sides. I'm on social media to share and learn about productivity, art, tech, life hacks, positive insight and the world around me. I block content from both political sides. I think labeling people as "Obnoxious libs" shares a bit about your world view and if name calling is your jam, than Twitter is likely a more comfortable place for you. I've chosen BlueSky as a way to connect with people and try and rediscover my love for people and what they have to offer outside of their political views. Political commentary has no value in my life. Again, I think any platform you're on is as valuable as you make it.

Just had to sign out. Getting hacked by account I reported for spamming. They keep unblocking me & put me back to follow. So all the ppl I’ve worked to get followers & have followed are no good??? ETA: my posts won’t post either. I’m so upset 😢
As a newbie on this style of social platform, your videois a very useful tutorial, thanks.

Just switched to Bluesky, no spam ads, very a few bots and fake accounts, I decide what's on my feed, way advanced than X.
It's a beautiful platform!
Thank you for this excellent tutorial Matthew. Got me up and running on BlueSky.
You're welcome!

Thank you for your clear tutorial. Very straightforward without being theatrical. Greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for the great advice .
Super useful, Matthew. Thanks. Subscribed to your channel.
Thank you!

I was thinking the same question about transferring my FB friends to Bluesky. I guess I have to go somewhere else to check that out for now. .
Are there options to save drafts or will it be a feature for this in the future?
At the moment I am unaware of a draft content feature.

How do you get past the capture challenge? What are they asking me. No directions
Nice video
I’m using a totally different handle.
How do I get rid of this account or fix it. I didn’t bring anything from X haven’t used in years!

I’m sure it’s only a matter of time til they start with the ads
BS sure not working for me.,,
One of your exclusion words says "vanca" not "vance" I think.
Now we need a new version of TH-cam too.
Not sure that's coming anytime soon, but DOJ is looking to breakup Google, soooooo...
@@MatthewRathbun DJ is not going to bust up Google after January. I wish it would.

Try Truth Social. Zero liberals there. And dear leader drops a truth every now and then.

Sorry, I'm not able to help with this. I would suggest reaching out to support at BlueSky?
