    Every day is a school day Max, never seen that trick before. Worked hydraulic copy attachments but the simplicity of this for 2's and 3's off is excellent. It's been 1 Deg C here today, and minus 8C last night, as much as that is rubbish, I don't think I could work in 40C, in fact I know I couldn't 😂😂

    • @swanvalleymachineshop
      @swanvalleymachineshop  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Jon . Hey , i have never seen the pins on the mag chuck set up before either ! I watch the videos on TV , then have to remember to drop a comment as my computer is in the workshop ! Lol , i could handle the 1 deg but not the minus 8 . The high 30's & 40 get a bit unbearable at times though ! Might have to move back to New Zealand ! 👍

    The trick with a trailing stylus copier such as seen here is to keep your main focus on the stylus rather than looking at the cutting tool.
    That is a mighty shaper you have there👌

    • @swanvalleymachineshop
      @swanvalleymachineshop  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cheers . You have to keep focus on the stylus to prevent a crash . If i am doing them manually with no template , i look at the shape of the work opposite the tool rather than watch the tool . 👍

    I can't see well but it looks like that seat slide is curved and made of multiple thicknesses of sheet metal. Doing it on a shaper will involve a lot of different setups - maybe some welding of different sheets ... fun but lengthy. Good luck, Max.

    Very ingenious. Have done some copy turning on a wood lathe in a previous life wood butchering, so this was very relatable. 👍
    The recent heat would have been awful both at your work and in your own workshop.
    I’ve been hunkering down inside in the air con, not game to go outside.
    A bit unseasonable for Spring, not even summer yet.
    Makes you wonder what it’s going to be like when summer actually gets here.
    Luckily the big fire over Wanneroo way wasn’t out your way, they lost 18 houses and some sheds in that one.
    Noticed your small lathe “clacking away” during the copy turning brass.
    You only did the head stock bearings etc up a year or so back before moving out to the block / new shed.
    Any idea what’s going on there?
    You were having some issues with movement between the head stock and bed before the move & I think you were planning to put the bed & head stock up onto your big mill table and test for any movement in the connection between headstock & bed? 🤷‍♂️
    Just curious I guess what the issue might be and what your planning to fix it & if the clacking noise might be related to whatever the previous issue was?
    Should try & catch up for a coldie before Xmas this year if possible.👍
