    My favorite ways to use scrap yarn is making a scrap yarn blanket. Literally just make one gigantic granny square. Sometimes I change the color every round and sometimes I make what I call a chaotic blanket. When I do a chaotic blanket I literally just use my yarn until it runs out, then I tie in another color, or sometimes even type of yarn, and keep going. They turn out so colorful and wonderful.

    I also started crocheting in 2023. I bought an amigurumi kit from Joann’s on a complete whim. And I ended up becoming obsessed with crochet! I used to feel the same way about it. I never had any interest in it and I thought a lot of the stuff was ugly. But now it’s a huge part of my life and I can’t imagine not crocheting. 🖤 Great video! You did a lot for your first year!!

    You are amazing and brave! I've been crocheting since I took a class in 2000 and I JUST started making cardigans! Crochet is the best hobby/skill ever, next to sewing. So weewaxing!! Good job! I predict you will go far in life.

    We actually started around the same time which I think is really cool! I technically started sooner like 3 years ago, but I was younger and lacked patience. The only thing I crocheted was a butterfly and a heart and some chains lol. Now I can concur that it is now my full-blown addiction, and I will be doing it for the rest of my life.

    If you first make a gauge swatch, which is a small rectangle with the respective stitches (in the case of the blanket, this would be a mini version of the blanket ;) ), then you can measure it and calculate how many chain stitches you need to make for the first row of your project to have the desired size. This will help you avoid the problem of your project suddenly becoming much larger or smaller than you thought. :)

    • @hnelson5609
      @hnelson5609 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I resisted making gauge swatches and it's mandatory for success. Especially for wearables. I always end up going down a hook size or two.

    • @OliveCrochet
      @OliveCrochet  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah yes the ol gauge swatch. I really need to start making those

    Technically you can use the scraps to make anything, you just have to sort the weights of the yarn and try to put colors that look decent together

      I have no where else to buy yarn that isn’t walmart, do you have any suggestions on where has a large selection of yarn this isn’t in the wrong ethically.
