I think my favorite method for these cardigans is a hybrid method. I'd make verticle strips/colums rather than full-width panels. That way the edges would still be hidden under seams with the main bonus of just making "stripes" instead of managing intarsia or tapestry colorwork in the center of each panel.

I'm watching this today and i started to make a cardigan on September 3, im taking a break cause I'm running out if yarn, and i was thinking to make it in the same way, well not completely same, you know one round like the 4 squares together instead of how you made the 8 squares together.

I have looked for the video on your Aurora Carnigan and cannot find it. I would love to make that. For my very first cardigan.

In all fairness if you’re not sewing together the patches then it’s not a patchwork cardigan it’s a colorblock cardigan. They don’t look the same at all but each is good in their own way.

My favorite ways to use scrap yarn is making a scrap yarn blanket. Literally just make one gigantic granny square. Sometimes I change the color every round and sometimes I make what I call a chaotic blanket. When I do a chaotic blanket I literally just use my yarn until it runs out, then I tie in another color, or sometimes even type of yarn, and keep going. They turn out so colorful and wonderful.

I'm doing a picture on the back cardigan but wanted to do patchwork on the front. This is gonna save me sooooo much time, thank you :) I didn't think to do it in panels.

Tbh is somewhat easy to find matching yarn with your scrap yarn. When you wanna buy more take it with you and try to find the yarn tex close to it. I made full projects like this, focusing on tex instead of branda cuz some I got from gift isn't from my country and I would never find it ir here

Making a bunch of mini squids or any other type of small Amigurumi, I feel like that would be one of the best things to do with leftover yarn because they aren’t too big :)

I also started crocheting in 2023. I bought an amigurumi kit from Joann’s on a complete whim. And I ended up becoming obsessed with crochet! I used to feel the same way about it. I never had any interest in it and I thought a lot of the stuff was ugly. But now it’s a huge part of my life and I can’t imagine not crocheting. 🖤 Great video! You did a lot for your first year!!

Technically you can use the scraps to make anything, you just have to sort the weights of the yarn and try to put colors that look decent together

My left hand is partially paralyzed so I’m right handed, but I crochet like left handed. For my left hand I ordered from Japan Hamanaka rakuraku SoftTouch Crochet Hook Set last year, they are well-crafted and so lightweight that it almost feels like you're holding air! And tnen I bought small and big needle point protectors by KnitPro for using on second point hook.

That's a lot of patchwork cardigans! I've done one patchwork and decided that was enough for me 😂 Glad you found some solutions for your wrist/arm pain; it be the struggle

Limit your time crocheting. I'll go about a half an hour, then stop. If you gradually increase your time it works better. If you crochet until it hurts, you will end up with an injury. Try daily or every other day, consistent crocheting. Work up to a comfortable level. I've soaked my hands in Epsom salts before bed. Helps with pain.
