I work at Tim Hortons, and I fucking hate our flat lids. I get it, flat lids won't leak if you're just sitting down at a table, but if you're walking or driving, then it's fucking annoying as hell. Even if you fill it half an inch from the rim. If Starbucks has all dome lids, why can't we?
Or maybe he could buy a coffee mug (which they sell at timmies as well) and use that

He think every coffee should automatically have the done lid soit doesn't spill. Not everyone who gets a coffee is driving with the lid partially open. Many people get the coffee by walking in and walking out. Or even drink their coffee there and prefer the regular lid. You want the dome lid, ask for it. Seems simple.
This shouldn't even be news worthy.

It is a product that is sold and he wasn't complaining. He was giving suggestions as to how to make it more consumer friendly. I called the ski hill the other day as they no longer give one free lesson to seasons pass holders like they did last year. Now it's $160. Big difference! First world problem? Yes, but the ski school director told me to write him with all feedback positive and negative because their business is for the guests and they want to improve any way they can. With many drive through coffee places it is competitive. Many people didn't like the lids and that means less business.

What happened was Timmys had a blend made for them WAY back in the day, when Timmys coffee was good, and once Timmys became huge and was bought out, they left the old formulation and made their own, cheaper, crappier blend.
Around this time McDonalds Canada was introducting the new "bistro" McDonalds, thats when they started bringing in TVs and big leather couches, they wanted people to loiter in McDonalds longer and spend more money, thats also when they decided to get real coffee, so they contacted the same supplier that made Timmys old blend and said "hook a brother up", but the Timmys blend will always be a secret recipe for Timmys so the supplier tweaked the Timmys blend and made a McDonalds blend.
Fast forward a number of years and Canadians are still slow to realize that McDonalds is selling the good, old time Timmys coffee and Timmys is selling dishwater and telling you its your Canadian duty to buy from them.
McDonalds as a corporation can burn in hell for all I care but their coffee is really good.
9 years later and the Tim Horton cup is still the worst you will ever find. Leaky lid, twisted lip, leaky seam.
Push the tab down into the coffee instead of pulling it up.
The problem here is that the cup was way overfilled. That being said, they have changed the cups and the lids to make them create a seal (the rims have a special coating on them that creates a seal when the cup becomes heated from the coffee). Now the problem is customers trying to take the lid off their coffee to check it and destroy the lid in the process.
I had the same issue at my wtim hortons...they started to fill my cup only 90 percent...solved

No point in even complaining unless you are one of the thousands complaining or you can prove those lids are either sexist or racist.
Exactly right he is. Since I quit buying TH, my car interior stays clean. A&W coffee lids better and coffee cheaper, no line ups and cleaner rest rooms.

when people have nothing better to do, but complain. Why can't he just admit that he's too lazy probably cheap to purchase a coffee mug! not only it'll keep your coffee hot for a period of time, its spill-proof (some are!)

Left Tim's behind after a multitude of coffee stained shirts. MacDonald's coffee is just as good and it is served in a customer friendly cup with a lid made for drinking. Tim's is good coffee, but it tastes like crap when it is wrung out from the front of my shirt or sopped up from the bottom of the cup holder. I wonder why TH execs can't understand that?

Haha this is a seinfeld situation.
In reality the new lid makes a bigger mess. Coffee pools in the leaf and around the edge and eventually pours all over u when you take a sip. The coffee they show in the video is way too full anyhow. It reminds me how much easier and more enjoyable it was to drink out of the flat lid. Atm I just hold the dam cup and when I want a drink I stop myself becaus the lid doesn't work. Eventually I remove the lid and drink directly out of the cup which is messy as hell but it beats trying to deal w the lid. I would be happy with a cardboard flat lid similar in shape to the original. If the new lid was dome cardboard I wouldn't be as annoyed but the new lid is a seriously rigid and indestrucable plastic. Should be completely biodegradable.
With all the recent discussion around the Temporary Foreign Workers being shown extreme prejudice by franchise-operations such as Tim Horton's, I'm astounded that this media coverage shows ONLY staff whom don't have Canadian heritage. Certainly doesn't bode well for any argument against this loop-hole being exploited severely by this corporation and many others since the introduction of the policy.
Just get a Contigo Autoseal Stainless Steel Travel Mug and Your Timmies will be safe and spill proof. I got mine for this reason works great.

Seriously? … Maybe don't open the lid and then start driving right away knowing full well the cup is filled to the top. Maybe take a few sips, close the flap, and then start driving. Or God forbid, wait until you're at your destination before opening the lid at all. Sounds like someone's just looking for his 5 minutes of fame.
. There's real problems out there and this is the story they cover. Lol. Damn. Get with the 2nd Donald coffee its the best and their lids work awesome. Here's the kicker there's NO NICOTINE McDonald's as opposed to Tummies. It's crazy go to Tim's at 7 am they have a line up of zombies. You know something is in the coffee.

Not to be a stickler... but since you should be paying attention to the road at all times instead of drinking your coffee, it shouldn't be opened in the first place until you get to your destination and drink it.
But, not everyone understands this, and that's cool. Just sayin'.
