Actually crazy started watching maybe 4 years ago. Finished my EZ30 Swapped lifted subaru forester. Ran back into you while im doing my home lab. Also crazy that we are both in the PNW. GOALS
With the axis camera specifically, how well do Unifi handle motion/object detection and notifications (things like line cross events)? I know the onvif support is beta still, but I am curious how well Unifi has implemented the various Onvif profiles (especially M from axis).
I just purchased my unifi equipment with one G4 and one generic IP camera. Both work well as expected. Question.. will the third party camera work with detections? I can't seem to get that to work. The third party camera only records. No detections and now notifications.
Ah yes, I should have mentioned - the motion alerts work on ONVIF, but the AI detect including the plate detection, people, cars, etc only work on the Ubiquiti cameras.
@@jeffsponaugle6339 I wonder if the motion detect capability was just added in the official release because I heard it wasn't working at all in the in early access. Thanks for confirming.
Interesting - I might have been... When I first added the cameras to a EA build I remember it not doing motion triggering, so that indeed may have been in a later pre-release.
I have 2 Reolink cameras and updated the firmware on them and enabled ONVIF on both, however only one shows up in Protect and allowed me to adopt it. Not sure why the 2nd one won't work?? They're both on the same network as the UDM SE.
Interesting.. I had one Reolink that died when I upgraded the firmware, and it no longer advertised being available... I ended up replacing that since it was pretty old.
Indeed - I have a couple that don't work, and one of those is now dead even with a reset. I had an older ReoLink that had some issues with the RTSP stream not working without a restart.. no doubt that firmware isn't fantastic. Surprisingly the Amcrest cameras have been flawless, as have the Ubiquiti ones.
That is one purpose yes. We get queries from PD regarding hit and runs and other random vehicle issues by our building. You can also use it for access control in some cases.
Jeff, I really am enjoying your videos. I find them inspiring. Thank you for sharing your tech/tech journey.
The mix of software and hardware in this channel always makes the best videos!

I’m happy to see I can add my old Amcrest cameras to my 15 UniFi cameras. I have a couple of areas that are currently blind.

I recommend factory resetting your Onvif cameras first if repurposing.
Is motion recording supported for onvif cameras yet?

According to my "research" motion detection is not supported yet
I will second that. Only time scrubbing at this time. Remember, UniFi has the AI built into the camera hardware and not in the NVR.
I'm assuming the onvif cameras are not capable of tripping alerts via protect? I don't have any onvif cameras to test myself. 😅

I've already seen a few other post with people having issues with the reolinks. They seem hit and miss.
Factory reset the Reolink?
Yes have tried that. And did a firmware update.

Have you looked at the doorbell pro?
Holy. Shit.
This would be my life if i didn't have children
Is license plate recognition to catch criminals or something else? I feel criminals just hide the plate or use a stolen one
