Great work as always :) Waiting to be able to access our house again after a huge water and pipe damage (only owned the house for 14 days when the damage was discovered). Then I have to start a new network installation in the whole house :) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :)
I love small but very advanced setups. I have 20 u7 outdoors deployed on 36 acres and they are absolutely incredible. We went from 1-2 bars of cell service anywhere on the property to full bars wifi everywhere!! My deployment is similar to this down to the ai 360 in the garage and g4 doorbell but across 5 buildings so bit larger.
Fantastic, but I wouldn't use an open rack in a non-HVAC space (which that appears to be). I have about 23 unifi cameras, 7 APs, and a ton of other equipment around my home and 1/2 acre property. My install looked a lot like this.
@ completely enclosed + positive pressure will go a long way to keeping dust out and prolong the life of those devices. It is a little work, but it will save a good bit of cash in the long run. Don’t save $50-100 on an enclosure and $100 and 1-2 hours of labor on a fresh air supply to lose around $1000 in devices, your data, and your network for those devices.
Let's go, new Mactelecom video! Can you do a full 2024/2025 UDM-Pro/SE/Pro-Max setup video at some point please? It'd be nice to see what's changed with UniFi Network recently. Thanks! :)
Nice work Cody. I like when things start to come together on the rack,my favourite part. I would have had a bigger loop at the rack ,only because I don’t trust my connections sometimes
Recently I was at a site that had really good conduit design. Was able to do a pull from quite a distance by using the old telephone line attached to a fresh roll of cat6. I am trying to do more conduit when possible. A new tool I found for this purpose: PVC conduit heat blanket. As long as there are no sharp turns, you can install with the option of future cable upgrades.
Would be nice to see a video on how you ran the cables, it would help those who don't want to tear into their own homes agressively to run cables if they can learn from others who do it professionally. Also are you planning to put covers on the patch panel and switch ports that your not using?
I don't like those open racks , maybe in server rooms. They look good (maybe) , but a rack should protect what is inside against elements , people , animals and so on.... same as a electrical distribution box/cabinet.
Open-frame racks dissipate heat better. Close-framed racks usually lock, but often the key is left in the lock, and if you take the key, you risk losing it. It's not worth the hassle for me, unless the rack is in a high-traffic area.
I am about to complete a very similar setup at my cabin. Any reason that you used the right side of the patch panel for patching to the switch? I would have figured it would look cleaner and work better to use the left side . That leaves room for additional ports in the panel to be used to patch to the switch or to the UDM itself. As it stands any patching to the UDM would not look as clean. Admittedly, I have UDM SE, so using the POE capacity there may be a higher priority for me.
Is it ok to use a Max 16 poe in a non heated or insulated barn? I have been using a Lite 16 poe for 2 winters in it without any issue. I plan on upgrading the lite to the max and finishing off my camera system.
Just a suggestion. If you're in the UK, you may want to consider a Penn Elcom rack. They're made in England and very sturdy. I have a 9U Penn Elcom that is closed with a plexiglass door. Both side panels are removable for access too. Or you can leave them off for more ventilation.
One day we gone figure out how to take the long patch cable to the core and make it neat to the next level lol until then we gone keep that loop 😂❤ But seriously we need ubiquiti ro innovate 😅
My G4 doorbell won't stay clipped on the mount without the tiny security screw holding it in place. Seeing you install one here makes me think something is wrong with mine..
When you install these routers, do you typically give the customer the Unifi credentials to use the apps? Or do you just add yourself as the admin and change everything remotely for the customer?
I like your Videos a lot. But one small idea or my Personal opinion. Dont use on the start picture Some Hardware you didn't install. I was hoping to See the big ptz cam and was a bit sad about it. Bit the Rest was great ☺️
protect is only worth using if it given to you for free. at the end of the day, its over priced (ui tax included) for something with horrible low light performance
Made me so happy when you coiled up that SFP DAC cable :)
Uncle is up and running good job bro
@@kristopherleslie8343 thank you 🙏
Really enjoy these on-site videos.

Well done, a nice clean install
Thanks! I really enjoy these shorts. I’m not a professional so my installs are all smaller like this one. Great to give me ideas!

How are paneled sides going to make any meaningful difference in that space?

Hey I most likely will after 9.0 is released
@@MactelecomNetworks Sweet, thanks! Have a great Christmas & New Year, from the UK! :D
I really love watching you guys work, amazing video thanks for sharing . I wish you Happy Holidays to you and the family 😄🎅

There’s a bit of service in the roof but not a ton :)

So there will be another video going over just cabling. And yup I just forgot all the blank covers at home. Going back up Christmas Day
Beautiful, love your videos
Thanks so much for these videos, they are super helpful.
I want to learn to run cable - I can do all the config, but have no clue where to start if my goal was to add network keystones at home. Any tips?

Cody, do you use pass through cat 6 connectors, or the old school ones? Also what are your thoughts on both?
i tend to think i'm good at terminating cat6 but it becomes 100x harder when you're atop a ladder in a really hot space

Not sure but will find out lol
What are your troughs on installing a camera (hidden) low so it can view faces under a hoody?
Watching now! Did you use any of the new "rack ears" or the awesome cloud key stand?
😆 not in this video
Hi awesome video! I am in the UK looking for a rack that is 9u - I am undecided about closed or open as yet but what product would you recommend?

What kind of Laptop could you recommend ? Or what are you using ?
Hey man.
Love watching your videos! Any reason for not using rack studs?
I guess it because of price.
Anyway, have a great day Cody! :D
So this rack has pre-drilled holes rack studs won’t fit. I do use rack studs in my own rack
Why plenum cable?
Out of curiosity, why are you installing a UDM Pro Max instead of UDM-SE or UDM Pro? Isn't the Pro Max overkill? Btw great video, really enjoyed it!
Only reason is for hard drive redundancy
@@MactelecomNetworks Oh makes sense. Thank you!

I have a video coming up where you’ll see me install the PTZ industrial :)
Such a shame to have to wait for the UPS unveil to get to record it! 😅 6:03
You need the Untwist Tool. It will save your fingers and speed things up.
I think I have one but never used it
I use mine all the time. However I just use it without the mini screwdriver attached.
Link?
