In case anybody is worried about their setup, I had two setups that worked perfectly fine. 1) Ryzen 5 3600 + 3070 on 550W Bronze 2) Ryzen 5 3600 + 3080Ti on 650W Bronze The CPU’s were not OC’d, but the GPU’s were UV’d. No problems with this setup, even though it seems I was cutting it close. YMMV.
My SF750 is pushed to the limit with my overclocked 3080 Strix and 5900x custom loop. I have never hit overcurrent protection but its close. However, with a GPU undervolt or even at stock its totally fine
Tdp has not been the issue with these cards it's the mometary power spikes that can trip over current protection of lower amp units. Igors lab tested the 3080FE power consumption and it can spike upto around 500 watts for 1ms, not an issue for some power supplies but some will trip over current protection on even certain 850w units.

Did Nvidia just unlimitedly raised GPU's power supply to "unleash the ampere"? Has anyone else suffered from this?
Hi, i was looking for a RTX 3060ti but surprinsingly bagged a Rtx 3070ti FE on the MSRP and decided to keep it as its hard to get a gpu on msrp nowadyas, i have a corsair Cx 650 watt bronze 80+ psu and i would be using it with an 6 watt ryzen 5600 x or the upcoming 65 watt alder lake 12400 non k cpu. i've been using this gpu with my current rig which has an old i5-8400( mother of bottleneck, i know) and i dont see any hiccups or random restarting as of now on 1080p, so my question is, will it be fine to use this psu for a long termsuse? will it trip my gpu or any other componenets for lack of wattage?

My opinion is if the psu is 80 plus $ and it is 650 watt gold it will be enough for a single gpu like 3060 or 3070 and even 3080 because there are a lot of 700 watt and 800 watt psus who are cheap like 20 to 30 dollars and i doubt they can deliver the power that is writen on the paper and even if they can it will be like just 40 - 50 % of the time which is not good and it might damage the gpu

I found a good deal on a 3080 so I just undervolted it to match the 1080ti I had before (around 280w ish max) until the new psu arrives

To be safe I’d always go 50-100w higher than the recommended wattage for you build
I run a 3090 on my 500 W psu fine. I just underclocked the CPU by 30% and lower the voltage. No need to waste money on a new PSU.

Got it to work now. It was a gpu riser cable gen issue. Using a cx650m. So far all is good. I might switch to a sf600.

My PC keeps shutting down while gaming, im rocking a RTX 3060 and an 650 psu bronze rating
What can I do to fix the issue? I may not have something plugged in right
did you fix it? i run the same 3060ti 16gb ram and a 650w bronze psu, and no problems
@@maej123456 uh it likes to still do that sometimes when it gets too hot, so I've just been making sure I got a fan blowing on it. I prob do need a better psu though
RMX PSU's are the best. I never knew PSU's did even make noise at all.. Until I got one for free from Gigabyte for my next setup. Amazing.

sure the exploding one only happened in 1 type off products produced in a certain time. it's already fixed, and I'm not saying all of em explode
Anyone with a 3070 Ti FTW3 paired with an 10700k? What PSU are you running? I should be getting my 3070 ti in a week or 2 and worried my corsair's 650w might not be enough. Considering getting an rm850x to replace the 650 just in case it's necessary.

At the end I used a 850w, as with 650w I was having coil whine. After the swap, no coil whine anymore

@@ClassicalTechnology I have a 650w, a 3070FE and a 3700x. It sometimes just will suddenly blink and reset the computer. Is that usually a power supply issue? I thought it was maybe a driver issue. But updated those, then one day it happened just a few minutes after start up while still on the desktop.

I bought a EVGA 750w and I'm going to be running my Ryzen 5600x and a 3070(if I ever get one). Probably overkill but Its my first computer and I don't know any better.
