Every time a police officer lies in a police report they need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for perjury. And it wasn't a warrior mentality, it was an outlaw mentality.

@@motosotarc5347 Because those are the only options, right? They couldn't possibly been hired simply because they went to police training like every other cop, there must've been some other ulterior motive. Jfc. Couldn't have possibly been that the training itself is severely lacking, or that police officers for a long time have been held up as some sort of pure beings that always acts ethically? There is so much wrong with how society have allowed cops to get away with basically anything that it's not surprising that this is the result. I suspect that incidents of pure evil like this are just the tip of the iceberg.

I'm from Canada, I'm white, and I won't pretend that I have the slightest idea of what it must be like to be black, especially in the U.S., and having to deal with the police. However, what I can tell you is that even here, a guy like me often sees cops being on a powertrip. I've seen great cops too, don't get me wrong, but there definitely a huge percentage of them who appear to have chosen this career to be in a position of power. Also, I used to have this friend who was friend with a firefighter and I unfortunately ended up going to a bar with a few firefighters and cops a few times. First of all, they don't seem to think that the law applies to them when it comes to drugs, speed limit, intimidation, but more importantly, the number of times I heard them say "Look, I'm not racist, but...........(Insert super racist comment)". Similar stuff was said about homeless people, drug addicts, poor people in general, etc.....And every now and. again one or the other would say "You know, we talk like that, but we're just joking around, we treat everybody the same, we're here to serve" or something like that.....But then a few beers later they'd start talking about specific case where they acted in completely inappropriate ways. To be fair, that happened over a decade ago, maybe things have improved since.....I see my little brother's generation and most of them seem to be much more actively opposing racism, sexism, and discrimination in general. I remember my highschool days, there was so much homophobia, most kids would be like "Yeah but I'm just calling you that as an insult, it's not that I have something against actual homosexuals" but they didn't realize that they were part of a much bigger problem. Thankfully, today's kids, where I'm from, seem to be much more careful and respectful when it comes to these subjects in general. I'm proud of them, and hope they will keep contributing to making society a better place for everyone.

“Overwhelmed with the power they have been given” is the perhaps the most accurate way to put it. When that happens the least of us, in their minds, become easy targets and victims of their violence with little to no accountability. Had it not been for the cameras and the courageous integrity of police leadership, media and community accountability, no one would have questioned those horrific events.

I agree with other statements made here in the comments, this is not a warrior mentality nor behavior, this was criminal, degrading and uniform unworthy violence by more than 5 police officers against a helpless citizen after an arrest gone absolutely bad. Tyre ran after understanding he was in great danger because the way the cops treated him was incorrect and disproportional to the very least. A warrior fights with honor for his people when there is unavoidable confrontation with an enemy.

It looks like they obviously took things too far. That being said, you have to be careful about your conduct in the presence of police. Especially if you believe you are being profiled. While there are people out there who will tell you that you have all of these rights and such, they won't be there to pay your bail or help you face the ramifications of your police encounter. If you resist, you give them an excuse so there is a need to be as civil as possible (For your own good).
