    I've had my Dualtron III for a couple of weeks now and your 2 reviews swung me towards paying extra for the superior quality and performance compared to most other powerful scooters. Thanks and keep up the good work.

    Great assessment! I have owned many scooters over the years as one of my primary commute options. I have enjoyed the 500w-1000w single motor scooters but wanted to try a power scooter. I then purchased a Kaabo Mantis dual motor scooter and loved the speed and acceleration. Unfortunately I got 4 flats in 300 miles of riding.
    I then drove over to San Rafael which is just over the bridge for me in San Francisco. I spent a couple hours with Cooper at Minimotors and test rode the Dualtron fleet along with some Wepeds. I wanted the best solid tire option so I focused on the Raptor 2 and the very lesser known Compact. I decided to splurge for the Compact and haven't regretted the purchase. It is built so well and can take 3" drywall screw to the rear tire and still keep going. I agree with you that top speed isn't everything. It can cruise at 40mph but I enjoy the crazy acceleration and small, folding structure. It can fold down and fit in my very tight garage. Once you ride a Dualtron for a while it is clear the quality is there and with US support that is the frosting on the cake. Keep riding and having fun!

      I'm thinking of getting the compact. Is the ride fairly comfortable and stable compared to the pneumatic tire Dualtrons? I'm on the fence between the III and compact? Thanks for your help.

      @@mychaelpierce8049 The pneumatics are much more comfortable. However, I have done 25mile plus rides on the Compact without any problems.

    Wow, you did a very excellent and thorough review of your scoot! The DT 3 looks like a great option and minimotors service sounds top notch. You mentioned that the brake pads didn't need replacement after 700 miles, would you say you had the regen braking on for most of that? In your opinion was it the regen brakes that saved your brake pads or was it just the fact that its a lot of brake a not a lot of scooter? Anyway, thanks again for the video!

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the nice feedback. Regarding the brakes...I only used regen braking for about the first 200 miles. Just didn't like it, so I turned it off. When I took the brakes apart (when I was changing tires) I was surprised how much braking material was left. There was very little wear. But I would also add that the pads do glaze over, meaning they get less effective over time. You really notice the difference when you install a new set of pads. I suspect the brake material is a bit too hard. I remember similar happening on some motorcycles I had years ago. There is a balance between getting the right hardness to get decent wear and soft enough to give good performance. IMHO.

    I really liked your first review and was eagerly looking forward to this update. As ever, yours is a thorough and engaging review. Btw we've both had the same problem with the switch selector. A good friend and dualtron expert who replaced it told me that it could be due to repeated handlebar folding and/or turning the handlebars too extremely to the left or right, especially when pushing it through tight spaces. Makes sense since this wire runs along the entire stem length.

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks much for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed it.
      Mine wore through right as it exits the plastic "dualtron" stem cover. So my wear could have been to folding/unfolding. I noticed the plastic cover has a fairly sharp edge to it. I rounded the edge so hopefully it will keep the problem from returning. Was that where yours had issues?

    Love your video. I have upgraded the breaks to Shimano M7100 (which used on bikes, cost me 950 Chinese Yuan / 147 USD).Surprisingly, they work very well. And about the re-gen problem that you mantioned, it seems not to be a problem to me. I set it at level 3, and I usually use the re-gen function to slow the scooter from 60km/h (38mp/h) to 20km/h (12mp/h) , and use the Shimano M7100 breaks under 20km/h. In this way I can regen more power and save the breaking pads usage. Feel free to disscuss more about Dualtron :)

    I was seriously about to buy one of these. The steering stem wobble, weird index finger throttle and weak brakes were a complete deal killer for me. I was willing to shell out a couple thousand thinking I was going to get a high quality scooter. Thanks for saving me the disappointment had I bought it. I noticed your friend has the Lunacycle scooter. If you don't mind, what's your opinion on that one? It's cheaper in price and looks pretty nice. The Luna Apocalypse 3.

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personal preference I would say. More protection is nice to have when you meet the pavement, but full coverage can be hot, bulky, and heavy. Mine is a HJC half helmet with built-in visor that I got at local motorcycle shop.

      Tough question. I guess I compromised over the thunder. And frankly it worked out great. The 3 is plenty of power and range. Most of my travels are around 20-25 MPH (bike trails/sidewalks) so higher top speeds really aren't necessary. But still would be fun to have more for the occasional white knuckle run!

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi John. It was a bit easier for me at the time because the Eagle Pro was not available.There are a lot more choices now than 2 years ago. Range was definitely a factor but in practice it hasn't been a big issue. Most of my rides/commutes are less than 25 miles. The Eagle Pro looks like a nice ride. The only thing that would give me pause is the brakes. The DT3 has hydraulic brakes (albeit cable actuated) and they are just OK. I suspect full mechanical brakes will be more of a speed controller than a brake. Good luck in your quest for a new ride!

    The price point is just madness. I understand that it is a high quality scooter but 3000$ is simply crazy. I got a Nanrobot d4+ from alibaba for just 900$ with the seat included. I know there is a difference in quality between the nanrobot and dualtron scooter series but you can get a 60 mph electric motorbike at this cost. I love dualtron scooters more than the nanrobot but the pricing is illogical.
