Dualtron 3 review

  • First look at the new Dualtron 3 high performance electric scooter from Minimotors. I provide my impressions after putting on the first 100 miles.
    The electric scooter industry is in its infancy. There are lots of choices out there (most are toys) but only a few are truly high performance...meaning speed, range, and a chassis that holds up. It appears that Dualtron is positioning themselves as a top contender in the performance electric scooter market.
    Please post your comments and questions and I'll try and get back to you.

    Wow! what an awsome review, top notch down to every tight little editing and grammer detail. all camera shots very professional and high quality as with sound. how is this not a review from a huge professional youtube channel? DUDE you NEED to start doing car reviews you are so easy to listen to and informative. loved the detail about play in the barring most people wouldnt even notice. Keep up the awesome videos man I would love to see you just start doing car reviews on whatever you can test drive alone brand new and people WILL watch. Good luck in life my friend.

      value from the videos. I’m still learning but I do try to put some critical
      research into my reviews. It’s really nice to get such positive feedback. There

I think we tend to lean toward the higher end productions and favor them for their visual appeal. You are very thorough and very detailed. Hey! I had the same problem but managed to fixed it. When your motor vibrates at a Low speed, it’s motor cable are not connected properly or it could also be burned. When I took out my cover my cables was totally burned and when I unplugged the burned cable the motor didn’t have a resistance to turn and was perfectly fine. So if you ever came across this problem, I would advise you to either change connecters or just have a look if the wires are burn.

    Nice job. Appreciated no background music and factual content. And agree that stem flex and one finger throttle are areas that need improvement on most scooters.
    Is the suspension quiet on the 3? Is it compliant? I considered the Spider, but opted for an eMove Cruiser for water resistance rating because I'm in the rainy Northwest. It has coil springs in front and they rattle quite a bit. And 10" wheels on poor road surfaces quite jarring. Yeah, one handing is to be done only with extreme care. Too bad as it would be nice to be able to use hand signals.

    This looks amazing but I was thinking about getting the qiewa q1 hummer as it's much lighter, despite the speed and range being lower. It still goes 30-35mph and has a really long range. If i have to carry the qiewa into my place of work every day, it will be much easier to do so. Plus it's significantly cheaper. If i were to get a scooter solely for any other reason besides work, I'd probably look at getting yours instead. The lower speed in the qiewa isn't a huge drawback either being as I would be riding it in an urban city anyways.

    Please be aware that with the dualtron 3 the electric brake and the acceleration from the start can be adjusted in 5 steps each. You may very well want to tune both down to the middle setting to get a smoother ride. Being able to finetune this is one of the biggest strenghs of the minimotors scooter.

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had no problems with water during the two times I got caught in the rain. But it wouldn't be my first choice of transportation in the rain. Scooters are already a bit sketchy...add water on the ground and you are asking to talk to the pavement.

    Nice review. How does it ride off-road - obviously not mountain bike type runs but in parks.... I use my current PEV to "walk" the dogs and prefer to stay on the grass away from the paths, and people.

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jayesh. Haven't really used it on grass. It clearly is design for paved surfaces. But I think they are headed in that direction. The Dualtron X looks off-road ready.

    Is the Dualtron 3 same torque/max speed as Limited?

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So limited means that the scooter will only travel 15 miles per hour as required by some local scooter regulations. This is controlled by the internal computer of the scooter through a hard wire connection. When the hard wire connection is broken, via disconnection of wire the scooter will make power to its full potential. Hopefully that answers your question if I understand it correctly.

    Wow! Terrific review! You'd think the company itself sunk the $$$ in to producing this video it's that good.
    But what's the stability like at 40 MPH? A bird or lime doesn't feel particularly stable at their 18mph top speed, but at 40mph? Honestly, how are potholes handled? On a bird, i almost lose control if they're like over 1" deep, making me wonder if that's the reason for the scooters brand name: it's what you become if the pothole is deep enough... I wonder what happens when hitting a similarly sized pot hole at 40mph with this beast of a scooter!

    • @DIYMark
      @DIYMark  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Glenn thanks for the kind words. Stability is something these scooters need to work on. To be frank it's ride-able at 40 but with white knuckles. But worlds better than a bird or lime which were not meant to go over 15.

    ABS with cable brakes yeah right, Ditto regen braking from a disc brake with no wiring. The hub motor regenerates not the brakes.
