Yeah, I agree, especially with the ZL1. In my opinion, I think the ZL1 and the Camaro as a whole is underrated.
Venom cannot kill demons in the real world, and won't in any other. Whether you like Mopar or not, you have got to admit that they have forced the other guys to get off their butts and step up their game, and any gear head out there has got to love and appreciate that. When Hellcat was released it created a power war like never seen before in production car history. As a lifelong Mopar guy, I'm loving what Chrysler has accomplished in a short period of time and is now leading the pack once again today.

Personal opinion, after owning fords for nearly 15 yrs, I’ve become really disappointed in their quality control. I’ve since moved onto dodge. That being said, I think the overall styling of the gt500 isn’t as nice as the incredibly muscular challenger.

I am not as brand loyal like I was in my younger years...owning more Fords and have 2 at the moment. I love them all for different reasons. I was waiting for the GT 500 vs the standard wide body 707hp Hellcat...but now with the Red Eye, I believe I will be pulling the trigger on that. What I am liking on the Hellcat..is size. It is just a good looking comfortable car vs my mustang and Camaro. Plus with the wider tires and some of the suspension upgrades Dodge did will be more than what I am after. Gaining 2 seconds on the track is a big plus...she's no ballerina but more than I'll ever push her in the corners. Great review..keep it up.

The Mustang is a Sports Car, the Challengers are Muscle Cars. Big difference and not sure how you can compare. Different class of car. I personally prefer the look of a Muscle Car over Sports Car.

See the Challenger and Mustang are still in the same class, 2drs 4 seats. A throughbred sports car has 2 doors 2 seats (Viper, Ford GT, Corvette).
So, these two cars are well within the specs to compete with one another.
It's not a sports car, sports cars only have two seats.

The new Hellcat redeye is just stunning! I love the Challenger, it's the last true muscle car. I hope the next generation gets lighter and a better interior. What I don't like about the challenger is the chassis, it is simply way too old.
The GT 500 is also super cool, can't wait until they release it!

As far as weight yeah fords got it but that's it. Stangs have always been small cars low on weight with good hp and great handling. As far as more bang for the buck Dodge takes it comfort,hp,torque, and the handling is suprising agile for the size of the car.lets not forget the charger red eye, and ram red eyes coming out. Ford can't compete with all that.

mohammadkwt would you consider the Shelby GT350 and upcoming GT500 a Ford? I wouldn’t, they are designed and tuned by Shelby based off a Ford Mustang. Now I love Shelby Mustang I mean how can you not but the Challenger, while I agree a cash grab, is designed and built by Dodge. I’m really excited to see the new Bullitt Mustang later this year!
Mean Green R/T 392 actually Shelby vehicles are powered , designed & built by ford I mean Shelby designed some vehicles but then ford took over the whole thing except the tuning for power & above all that it can do more than the challenger does ( challengers & chargers are good in straight line only ) , ford is doing straight line & track while dodge never do something special except bumping hp & torque...I mean why didn’t they made something at least like the gt350R ? track & power.

I think the 2019 hellcat SRT challenger it look real mean with the redeye I love it and the horsepower is ridiculous to get beat by a hellcat that is going to stomp the Ford gt500 ass on the street and dragstrip the grey color look real fresh paint job it should have some racing wheels and some slick on the back and skinny front tires it is a badass beast.

The GT500 is meant to be street and track ready without having to change a thing. If anyone is serious about the drag strip they'll have street tires and slicks for the shelby so they don't spin. A good heat of the tires and any car won't slide. Dodges hellcat is extremely overrated. Shit even the demon is getting beat by lightly modded 500s. Check out demonology on youtube. Hes got videos up of him losing to 500s in the 1/8th. Dodge=slow boatmobiles

I don't think so. Why would they release a car that competes with a car that isn't even out yet. If they are trying to beat the gt500 that's a bad plan. Ford can still add more power and make the gt500 better. After all the gt500 doesn't come out till 2019, and might not hit the road till 2020
no, they probably made it for money alone. FCA isn't really interested in beating competitors in terms of performance and quality, see Fiat, Ferrari, Maserati and even Alfa Romeo with a Giulia breaking down in the middle of a test.
It takes a lot of time and R&D to bring an upgrade in power.
It's not that the engine cant make the power, it does... if you've seen what a 5.2 can do with a aftermarket charger, they make around 900hp. It's about durabilty and emmisions. The 5.2 won't have additional power added to it because the zl1 hasn't. The Chevy is what Ford cares about...not the demon, inspite of what Jim Owens spouted out.

I'm a Mopar guy for 30+ years and I love what Chrysler is doing once again. Good thing the horsepower war is still raging on. However the quartermile times are irrelevant to me. Lap time is the most relevant thing with the convenience of a daily driver.

the only one I see close to 800 is in a couple years, the ME version of the ZR1. supposedly 800HP give or take some. We'll see, but all that weight over the rear wheels and huge 335s out back. possibly even front wheel assist. it will be fast as hell.

Mopar fan here, but I'm pretty sure the gt500 will beat the redeye in every way even if it has less hp due to its weight difference.
That’s my thinking. I just commented on how it’s been rumored by Ford assembly line workers that the GT500 will come equipped with the Tremec 7-speed DCT from the Ford GT so as far as shifts go, it’ll be far more smooth and crisp than the 8-speed automatic from the Hellcat Redeye with the benefits of less drivetrain loss. Not only that but the GT500 will have far more superior aerodynamics and power-to-weight ratio and Ford really showed how important aerodynamics and power-to-weight ratio is in ‘66 against Ferrari. Just my two cents of the given discussion.
Exactly, that expands upon my point, the stang has many more things going for it other than raw hp. Shit that transmission would be nice. I'd still want the challenger though if I drove it often just because it so much more comfortable for my 6'6" ass, and the look is so iconic which is why they've changed it so little since 2008.
Doubtful, the 10 speed shush box shifts faster, it's lighter, has more gears and much cheaper, the sun is setting on DCT's fast.
Lol my first car was an sxt challenger and I just sold my srt8 for a scat pack. I like these cars for their comfort and style first and performance second (Not saying they don't perform great) but they're more of a luxury muscle car than others.

it won't have close to 800hp. 755 is max. it is a track built car, DCT only, built to compete with the zl1 and zl1 l1e. there will be a gt500 and a gt500R.
Jim Owens was talking smack... it's not going to be a drag car. It will still be quick but it's not going to be built for straight line acceleration. I would guess tho, that the non track version with less aero will be over 205mph.
