Finally. A high top that doesn't look like a wrestling shoe haha. I do love my whitins, but interested in checking these out. I only bought a high top to protect my ankles in moshpits at metal shows haha. I love they also have a rev low top. I'll be checking out both!
Very cool, I remember people asking in groups looking for this, so it's great to get something out there for folks, I dig the design with those looks and still flexible.
These look pretty much exactly like the type of barefoot shoe I am looking for, if only they were available in Europe... (Sound is perfect by the way!)

Great review guys! Ordered the Rev LT Barcelona - SO sick. Splay nailed it with the style... and the stack height seems like such a sweet spot with insoles in/out for that extra squish. Is the inside of the shoe finished? Also, I'm sure you guys have heard of Bohempia. They make some really nice high tops in the Converse style. I've got a high top and slip on from them - have been solid at a different value proposition. Cheers!
I think the Splay 101 is probably better as a skate shoe since it is an all leather and suede upper (plus it's very hefty, feels like it'll last a while), whereas this one is mostly canvas, so it will get shredded by grip tape if you do any tricks. Looks nice as a casual shoe though for sure. Splay's vulcanised sole is a bit rigid though compared to most barefoot shoes, with less ground feel too. I think it's probably best to get these if you value width over ground-feel.
I’m going to get these I use to skate in my highschool days To remedy the hard to get on you could get elastic laces I see them on til tok I’m pretty sure he did it with chuck taylors or vans can’t remember
I saw they had an outlet section with brand new models for half the price due to cosmetic imperfections. Gives off a great impression as a brand. For someone like me who are between sizes that would be gold if their outlet store shipped outside usa. But sadly, they don't.
I'm in the market for a barefoot skate shoe for downhill skateboarding. The shoes need to be high tops in order to protect the ankles from road rash when bailing at speed and sliding on the pavement. Unfortunately, the side of the ankles in this Splay Rev HT is made from cotton, which I believe isn't a very abrasion-resistant material. Which is why I believe the Barebarics Zing High Top or the Ahinsa Quick might be better for ankle slide protection due to their leather/faux leather material all around the ankles. Do you guys think I should go for these Splay Rev HT's instead of the Barebarics Zing High Top or the Ahinsa Quick for my downhill skateboarding use instead though?
@@nickamarit sounds like you know more then we do haha! Skating just isn't our thing, you can see us casually longboarding but that's the extent of it for us. The high top zing would be a great option for more protection for you, we love Be Lenka/Barebarics!

It's got 6.5mm of rubber and 4mm of some squishy insole material under your feet. You gotta judge depending on your body's adaptation to minimal shoes if that's enough for you or not
@ I think what it boils down to is that the sole is a little firmer than the barefoot shoes I’m used to so it doesn’t bend as much under foot. Just makes them feel a little stiff. I’ve also found their toebox to be a little wider than others, so my foot kind of slips around. I might need to try going down a size. I do really like the way they look and everything. They’re a great casual barefoot shoe that doesn’t look as much like a barefoot shoe. Just have found it hard to wear for a long time or a lot of walking.
@@ian7208 Eric and I just never got into skating growing up. But we like barefoot shoes and we love the idea of a Hightop canvas barefoot shoe. So here we are haha. @sonsofsever So why would you give them a good review if you aren't going to use them for their intended purpose? It's a specific type of shoe that will not do what it is specifically designed to be.
