Thanks for the video. I'm new to ocean fishing. I live on a beach in Colombia S. America. I"m going to be surf fishing for the first time. I have been watching many videos like yours to try to have an understanding what I need to do. I'm thinking of buying a Penn Slammer III 5500 reel and matching it with a 10 " pole. Maybe a 6500 Penn Slammer III. I'm not sure what kind of fish they have here on the Colombian carribean coast. I hope to find out soon.

Unfortunately I think they stopped making this rod. I have not found another one quite like it yet.
@@SaltSquatch Something similar probably has Daiwa?! And what is the diameter of the first ring on the fishing rod? I would really like such a fishing rod , but it would be better if the length was 13'?
@@KasumGadzhiev length of rod depends on what you need it for. Personally I like 10' rods for surf fishing. The longer the rod, the tougher it is to handle and cast (in my opinion).
@@SaltSquatch Yes. but the longer the rod, the further the cast. We just have fish far from the shore. I live on the shores of the Caspian sea. Thank you man for the answer! And the stand for the rod is a useful thing from a PVC tube . Thank you , we do not even do this and do not know!
Kasum Gadzhiev makes sense. Every area is different...we are lucky to have fish close to shore.
How do you prevent line tangle using fish finder rig during long cast?
What do recommend for a pompano rod and reel for the Treasure coast?

5000 seems to be the sweet spot for the gulf coast.
Hi Phil I got 2 surf rod set ups penn 5000 on 10ft rods what's a good line for surf fishing say panama beach currently I'm using 30lb braided could you please help me out with this?
I personally use 20lb power pro super slick because it casts a mile. You can go heavier (30 lb), but if you’re targeting pompano then it’s really not necessary.
