Daddy had a massive stroke on February 26th, 2013, which was the day right before my little brother Isaiah's 7th birthday. He had a stroke while at work. He was a mechanical engineer for the American Navy. On February 26th, 2013, Daddy had to give a huge presentation. When his friends realized that he wasn't coming to the auditorium, they assumed that he was just nervous, so they waited for him. As an hour passed, they went to his office cubicle to see what was taking him so long. They found Daddy slumped over in his chair and over his computer. His boss called 911. The police, firefighters, and paramedics, all came, and took Daddy to the nearest hospital.
When Daddy was a little boy, all he wanted to eat was junk food, so his parents fed him junk food. The only vegetables he loved were onions and lima beans. Growing up, he kept his unhealthy diet. The only exercise he got was from playing baseball, his favorite sport. He was always a gentleman who bought Mommy and her family food and drove Mommy to school. In the early 90's, Mommy and Daddy got married. At only 37 years old, Daddy suffered from cardiac arrest. He was immediately taken to the hospital.
Growing up, my little brothers and I had to watch Daddy eating unhealthy and going to the hospital. When I was a little girl, my little brothers and I wanted to ride in the ambulance with Daddy. When I was 5 years old, Daddy had to get his chest and arm cut open. Despite him going to the hospital often, he still went on multiple business trips. When I was 12 years old, my youngest brother Jeremiah was born. Daddy had a stroke when Jeremiah was only 4 years old. He had to grow up with a bedridden and disabled father.
On the day Daddy had a stroke, I texted all my friends about it. My friend Sarah said, "Oh no! Poor Mr. Duggan!" On Isaiah's 7th birthday, I went to school. Lots of people, both teachers and students, said, "Hannah, I heard about what happened to your dad. I'm so sorry." The stroke also made Mommy's life harder than it already was. When Jeremiah started to get his first underwear, Mommy thought that she never had to change another diaper ever again, but she was wrong. She often had to change Daddy's diapers.
Last year, I was asleep in my bed. I heard Mommy yelling. Annoyed, I went downstairs. I saw Mommy wearing gloves and a covid mask. She said, "Jimmy! I can't believe you, man! Look at you! You got poop all over yourself!" When I went into Daddy's room, the enclosed porch, Mommy said, "Don't go in there. Your dad got poop everywhere. It smells very bad!" Since I couldn't smell anything, I went into Daddy's room and asked him if he was okay. He said, "Yeah." Daddy's clothes were all covered in poop. I then looked all over the place for his teddy bear, but I couldn't find it. My little brothers and I cleaned the house. Mommy called 911 and told them that Daddy got poop all over himself. Daddy even tried to lick the poop from his hands, but Mommy said, "Dude! That's disgusting! Stop licking the poop from your hands! It's not chocolate!" Then, the police came along with the firefighters and paramedics. They took Daddy to the hospital. Mommy said, "That teddy bear you bought for your dad, I had to throw it away. He got poop all over it." Daddy's entire mattress had poop all over it. His pillow was clean, but his blanket was just covered in pee. Mommy had to wash the blanket.
When I was 17 years old, Daddy fell while me and my little brothers were all in school. He got blood everywhere. The blood was splattered all over the walls. Daddy was taken to the hospital and my aunt Dop, Mommy's youngest sister, had to clean up the blood. When my little brothers and I came home, we found Jeremiah crying. Jeremiah was 5 years old at the time, but wasn't even in school yet. I asked him where Daddy was. Jeremiah said, "He was taken to the hospital. He fell down and got blood everywhere." I covered Jeremiah in hugs and kisses. I even scooped him up and rocked him like he was an actual baby. I gave Jeremiah his little brown teddy bear and told him that Daddy was gonna be okay.
Whenever we go to church, we always pray for Daddy to get better. Now, Jeremiah is almost 16 years old. He is now in the 10th grade in high school. He is still as cute and sweet and cuddly as he was when he was a newborn baby. He loves painting, cooking, and inventing. He remembers when Daddy had a stroke. When Jeremiah was a baby, I trained him to be a good boy, which means he shouldn't repeat curse words he hears in public. He learned quickly.
Daddy now lives in the local nursing home. He now looks very healthy, thanks to the prayers and wondeful doctors and nurses. He's in good hands now.

One of the most key pieces to my recovery of my wrist from my stroke has been my Motus Nova robotic device. My stroke happened about 13 months ago and there are actually no occupational therapists in my town. The lack of a real way to track my progress because sometimes you can't tell if you're getting better with the stroke been very difficult. I've been using the @MotusNova device since May and so I've gotten in about five or six months roughly and I've already done over 1.8 million repetitions. There's no way I could have done that without the robotic device. My force extension has gone from 19 to roughly 80 to 133 peak. It's charted on a graph so it's goes up and down but trending up the whole time. Ive been able to turn door knobs and I do the light switches. I started working with kid blocks and paper clips. I was able to trim my nails using my affected hand.

      Hello,
We are delighted to hear about the significant role the Motus Nova robotic device has played in your wrist recovery. After your stroke 13 months ago, it must have been challenging to track your progress without an occupational therapist in your town. However, using the Motus Nova device since May, you’ve made incredible progress with over 1.8 million repetitions. Improving your force extension and being able to turn door knobs, use light switches, work with blocks and paper clips, and even trim your nails with your affected hand are remarkable achievements. We are thrilled to see your progress!

Depending on the condition of your patient, our physical therapy and rehabilitation programs, as well as their durations, may vary. It would be appropriate for your father to undergo detailed clinical examinations and tests by our physicians before exercise planning and treatment program.

      Hello,
First, we extend our best wishes for your recovery. Post-stroke exercises should be tailored to your specific condition. Gentle range-of-motion exercises, seated marching, and hand-stretching exercises can be beneficial. The best approach is to visit our facilities for a personalized treatment plan. Our Early Phase Rehabilitation Camp offers inpatient services that provide continuous professional supervision and individualized care, making your recovery more effective.
