I don't need more than a couple of vacuum cleaners either, but sadly I am compelled to keep acquiring them. I'm getting a new Miele U1 upright tomorrow.
The version we get in the UK/Europe will be slightly different to the models avaialbe in the USA as we have an EU cap on motor wattage. There is a very long video I made a few years ago on my Miele S7 upright on my channel if you haven't seen it. Lots of old and new Dyson vacuums coming up on ibaisaic this year too. 🙂
I have the dyson tpo1pure cool tower, the most basic purifier version, and let me tell you, it's worth it, the air is sooooo much cleaner that it was, my mom has mold allergies, and her symptoms have drastically decreased after just a day of use, it was wonderful, and their costomer service is very good as well, im not complaining. Also, the air flow is wonderful and cool, not overwhelming or loud at all, if you want a cold room get an air conditioner, it would be dope however if dyson made an air conditioner.
I have 4 of these, all told, in the house, including the desk model, two towers, and a heater version. They work really well. You can track the particle count over time, and I notice that particles go up when I get up in the morning, which causes the filter to run faster until the target zone is reestablished. If I change the bed sheets, the particles spike way up, to the same effect. They're over a year old (so they're not the current model you're testing, which have the LED graphic on the unit), and they haven't given me any trouble at all. Like a lot of things, they're expensive, but they work. Thanks for reviewing this!
Patrick Dawson how good are they at cooling? I want to buy this for the purification but more importantly for hot summer days as I live in the loft and its get unbearably hot. Will this do the job?
A fan cannot cool the air like an air conditioner but it can make you feel more comfortable in hot weather by circulating the air. For the price of a Dyson purifier you can buy a portable air conditioning unit.
Since it's a just a fan, not an air conditioner, it doesn't actually cool the air at all. All of Dyson's fans, whatever size you choose, work pretty well for their size, but they won't lower a dangerously high temperature in a closed space. So, if your space really is "unbearably hot", then this isn't a solution. If it's just uncomfortable, then it might suit you. Every Dyson fan involves some maintenance: The Pure models require filter changes, and the models that don't have replaceable filters still have an intake covered by tiny holes like those on a shroud of a Dyson vacuum before the most recent models, which have to be vacuumed off maybe once a week or the airflow is reduced.
About once a year. I vacuum them very gently with a soft brush attachment every couple months to get pet hair and dust from the surface. I vacuum the grill surface every time I vacuum.
Really good to hear your views on this air purifier. I was quite shocked at how quick it was to pick up the vocs and other pollutants when I reviewed. Great video as always
I run mine at night in my bedroom, but the air quality is good anyway, so it's a bit wasted on me. I will enjoy using the cooling effect if we ever get a summer.
I got 1/5 the OEM price replacement filter from aliexpress but it's quality is worse, it's carbon layer does not exist so the fumes are not removed. I'm disappointed that the OEM filters are so expensive. Overall I love this machine.
Whats the difference between this one and the older hot and cool purifier. I know the lcd screen but what else? I’d like to have it all purpose so hopefully they come out with a new hot and cold with screen. Any other competitors to this?
Which magazine does thorough stress tests. They found the old models only picked up 55 per cent of particles. They recommend a Vax or Phillips which is half the prices and pick up 93 percent. I'm still waiting for them to stress test the 2018 Dyson but it won't be done for a month or so and I need one know... Not sure to risk this purchase or go for Vax. It's a lot of money but it affects my life quality dramaticall.
Iqair is the best air purifier. I have this Dyson it is a good machine. I'm not sure on the longevity of the Dyson due to the 2 year warranty. I have a couple of Iqair machines that are about 10 years old. They have been trouble free but costly to maintain due to the expensive filters.Hope this helps.
It is expensive but it has only just been launched. In my experience it will be on offer at some point and then the price will continue to go up and down which is something Dyson do with their vacuum cleaners.
Can you tell me if the 40 watts electric consummation is when the fan is on full blast please? Would it use less if I had the fan running at a much slower speed? Thank you.
I'm not sure. 40 watts is the stated motor wattage which is the maximum it will consume on the highest setting. I assume on lower settings it will use less power, but I don't have anything to measure that.
This is an honestly a good review, just what I was looking for, I don’t know why you don’t have more likes on this video, at least you have got my like anyway, good video, keep it up
James Rayner I'm not convinced this constitutes a review. For me it's merely a demonstration and not a particularly comprehensive one at that. For a review of this unit to be truly useful I would want it scientifically proved that the filters actually clean the air and not just the machine itself telling you the air is clean. It's great that the machine can detect the deodorant, but what about other elements that aren't so easily detected? Also, what proof do we have that the machine is as good as it claims? It's a bit like asking you kids to tidy their rooms and not actually checking to see if they have done it but taking it on their word that they have. Maybe they have, maybe they havent; who knows!? The guy admits he doesn't even have any allegies. Surely this unit should have been sent to someone who suffers from allegies derived from airborne particles. If you had a hayfever sufferer (my partner would be a good test subject) with regular sneezing fits during I'm hayfever season, you could at least see whether the unit alleviated or stopped those events. It's not exactly scientific, but could be a useful indicator.
Hi! I’m considering buying this Dyson cool air etc but I was also looking at the hot and cool Dyson fan heater. (My apartment doesn’t get too cold and I never used a heater this winter in Sydney Australia) Which do you prefer? In Sydney the hot + cool is only another $30 but I like the tall tower...🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
I wouldn’t recommend this if you mainly want a fan to cool the room as it’s main function is to purify the air. Don’t bother with the hot and cool version if you don’t plan on using it as a heater.
When the machine is switched off but still plugged in it mak. Also purifier wh apart from that fantastic machine well worth the money if you are disabled as I am and you spend a lot of time in bed paid it over a period of time from QVC cost of machine without QVC just under £500 which is I know ridiculous ich has to be replaced is between 65 and £75 from Dyson only es the high screeching noise all of the time and eyes use it in the bedroom it is very annoying
Does this unit release any sort of 'glue' smell? I have read a couple reviews where the glue used in some part of the purifier can release a yeast like smell. Considering buying, but don't want a smelly purifier!
I don't have any brand new models. It looks like the air quality monitor trend bar, which you look at on the app, now has a circular display on the unit itself, which I don't see as being useful, but it looks kind of cool. When the unit is in automatic mode, it has a particle sampler that turns it off if the air quality is good enough to meet the requirements of the target range you've selected, also an app function. I think I saw a video from Dyson that allows you to control some things with voice commands, but I'm not entirely sure I'm correct about that. Regardless, that's another feature I think is unnecessary. Overall, I don't think they've changed much. My guess is that you'd notice zero to minimal performance differences between the previous models and the brand new new ones. I definitely would make sure you buy the Link models, which connect to your WiFi and the Dyson app on your iPhone. The unconnected models don't let you control them remotely, track the particle count trend. The newest models have 2nd generation filters, but they apparently fit in the 1st generation machines, as I bought the 2nd generation filters to replace mine, and they're compatible. I could use one or two more of these and plan to buy the older model at a discount and then use the 2nd generation filter when the included one needs replacement.
Patrick Dawson Wow thanks a lot for the answer! Apparently the new one can reverse the airflow so it's purifying but not cooling - are the link models able to do that?
The Pure Cool and Pure Cool Link differ regarding connectivity via WiFi to your iPhone/iPad. That gives you more information about the changes in air quality over time and allows you to control the the functions remotely. The airflow directional change feature is new; the older models I have don't do that. I haven't had one that does that to try it, but I wouldn't pay a lot more for that feature. I'm sure the upgrades are sound, but the original models work so well that I'd still go with those if I could find them on closeouts at significant discounts. If you end up with the 2nd generation, it's probably even better, but I doubt that it's different enough that you'd notice the improvement over the first model. Obviously, though, I don't know that with any certainty.
Thanks a lot for the insight! I'll go hunting for a bargain soon :D The airflow direction might come in handy in the winter, when you want air purification but don't want to freeze due to the fan...
Well, about that, the fan oscillates or remains fixed, so you can have the fan output directed away from you electronically via the remote that is supplied, your iphone, or your ipad and then stop it when it's pointing in a different direction. If you can't find any of the controls, you could also, in an emergency, just manually pick the whole unit up slightly and turn it. (Obviously, I would not want the public to know I had done something that indelicate.) I would still get the older model if the price were low enough. BTW, I make these remarks loving the machines I have but also have never paid anything close to the full price for any of them vis-a-vis online discounts or open-box items at Best Buy. The upgrades for the new models are probably neat but not worth - to me - skipping clearance prices on the older ones, which really work fine. If you want those new things and don't mind spending the money, I'd love to learn how you like them. I won't find out first-hand because I'm keeping my existing ones and adding one or two more at clearance.
No they have to be replaced at a cost of £50 for the pleated filter and £50 for the carbon filter, so £100 for the set. It’s OK though, because your purchase is helping James Dyson buy a bigger heated swimming pool for his dogs.
I used it in summer to provide some air movement in my bedroom at night and it made me more comfortable, but I have used regular fans that have more airflow.
It can't lower the temperature of a room as it's only a fan that circulates the air, but it can make the room feel more comfortable in hot weather. I have used mine using the timer setting at night when we've had some warm nights.
My Dyson will not link to the app, have tried on 3 devices. Ifyou look at the reviews on Google play, they are nearly all awful, and many people can ever ever get the app to work. Aside from that I live in the most polluted part of the country and in a main road, I put my purifier next to mould and actually blew heavy dust on it, it only ever says the air is fantastic (and has said this since I got it).
Poor quality and terrible service. Dyson refuses to honor warranty. Up until about 2 weeks ago, I would have told you that my experience with the Dyson TP04 was positive. I bought the device in early May and despite some wonky controls and the device experiencing a couple "faults" in the middle of the night that caused me to unplug/replug the device, the device was exactly what I wanted: a quiet fan that makes an appreciable difference in the air quality. About two weeks ago, however, all of that started to crumble... CLICKING NOISE - About two weeks ago, the device began to make a fairly loud clicking noise when oscillating through a certain range of motion. This would come and go, but would ultimately get louder and more persistent. The noise was somewhat akin to a water sprinkler "chk-chk-chk" noise. I keep the device in my living room and it was loud enough to hear the fan (at setting 4/10) and over my TV despite being about 8 ft away. WHINING NOISE - About a week ago, the device began making a high-pitched whining noise. This noise is similar to the motor whine of a power drill only much louder. Again, this was loud enough to hear 8 feet away and with my TV on. I also want to stress that the device makes this noise simply by being plugged into the wall, not just when oscillating or being powered on; if it's plugged into the wall, it's screaming at me. Not exactly a "set it and forget it" device anymore. DEAD IN LESS THAN 2 MONTHS - The device completely failed this morning. Plugged it into the outlet this morning and I was shocked to hear no whining noise. Turns out it wasn't because my device had miraculously healed itself; nope, the device is completely dead now. NO WARRANTY - I contacted Dyson earlier this week about the whining noise and I got the impression that support immediately was familiar with the issue. However, despite my device showing in warranty on Dyson's own website; they are refusing to honor it because of the Amazon seller I bought the device through. When I purchased the device, I paid full retail price ($549) and purchased the device "New" from a reputable Amazon seller. According to Dyson, this voids the warranty because the device could have been "improperly stored" prior to my purchase among other arbitrary reasons they think that I am somehow responsible for. They did let me know that they would be happy to charge me to repair their defective product. In summary, great device until it wasn't. I am deeply disappointed at the quality of the device and even more disappointed that a company like Dyson has such little regard for their consumer. I got about 45 good days out of the device and 15 fair ones before it became a statuesque reminder of the worst purchase I made this year.
It's not even a great device before breaking. It only performs a fraction as well as half priced options. You're just buying the brand name and design.
Does it also purify the air from pollution by cars etc? "Dyson's 360 ° HEPA borosilicate glass filter automatically removes 99.95% of all allergens and environmentally hazardous substances in the air as small as 0.1 microns." What's the size of car pollution? Do you guys find any answers
Do you like this air purifier price aside. It’s really light for an air purifier. The filters for the air cleaner I’ve been looking at weigh 9 kg alone but are expected to last 5 years with 24/7 use, or I could pay half the price on a smaller innovair air purifier, but it is noisier. This review was very objective but do you actually like it and does the air smell fresh and pure. Other reviewers say they love the Dyson but have ended up buying 4 or 5 of them, for each room if the house I’m guessing. I’d rather one that can ultra clean a small room and can still cope with a large living room.
How is she does with fag smoke and will she say cigarette smoke in air and how loud is she As I'm really thinking about this 1 only But I'm worried will b too much noise As I live in 1 bedroom bungalow I have the futura air purifier but in kitchen as too noisy in living room so if u could please get back too me asap plz
I was thinking the same thing. It looks like a good product but 50 quid for a filter is taking the mick. Each one can’t cost them more than £10 to manufacture, likely far less than that. I know there are R&D costs etc as well but come on, they didn’t R&D the filters. They’ve just used preexisting technology for them. Crazy expensive.
No, it does not cool, it’s a fan that just recirculates air. It’s main job is an air purifier, but according to an independent consumer organisation in the UK, it’s filters only managed to remove 50% of the airborne particles, so it’s not a good air purifier. I sold this ages ago and bought something that works far better but doesn’t have a fancy design. I hope that was useful.
This air purifier is a joke, get the xiaomi air purifer 2 for just gbp100. Denser more effective filtration. That thing has a laughably thin hepa filter that sucks in just a fraction of the air.
Thinking of getting one of these, how much cooling does it give. If my room is 25°c will it cool to 21°c or does it just move the air like a conventional fan?
No, like all fans it only circulates the air and doesn't cool it, though the movement of the air does make you feel cooler when sat near to it. If you want to reduce the temperature you could get a portable air conditioner for less than the price of this Dyson fan.
No fan has Freon involved cooling capabilities. Please educate yourself on what a fan is. Also, this Dyson fan was never advertised as an air conditioner.
Don’t need it, but I want it. Story of my life. Nice video Roger.
I didnt know you watched Roger? Wow? The tech and vacuum community is really coming together.
Wow! I didn’t expect to see you commenting on a video like this :P
I don't need more than a couple of vacuum cleaners either, but sadly I am compelled to keep acquiring them. I'm getting a new Miele U1 upright tomorrow.
ibaisaic I’m a Dyson collector but have been eyeing a Miele Dynamic U1 Dog & Cat. Looking forward to your coverage!

Also, the air flow is wonderful and cool, not overwhelming or loud at all, if you want a cold room get an air conditioner, it would be dope however if dyson made an air conditioner.
Worth it. I live next to rail tracks in central London with windows facing west. Helps with air quality and summer heat.
Does it still work
I have 4 of these, all told, in the house, including the desk model, two towers, and a heater version. They work really well. About once a year. I vacuum them very gently with a soft brush attachment every couple months to get pet hair and dust from the surface. I vacuum the grill surface every time I vacuum.
Hi s the noise level too loud to sleep next to?
What happened to the diffused/focused modes or the timer on the remote?
This is more a demonstration than a review.
They need to make this model more quiet. If the high setting mode was quiet as low mode then I’d definitely buy one
Hi can u use the fan whilst the purifier is turned off
No. The intention of this fan is to blow out clean and pure air, utilizing the filters.
My TP04 takes literally hours to remove VOC to reduce the levels form fair to good.
I’ve noticed that the airflow is reduced when I place the fan near the wall. Have you noticed the same decline in performance?
Really good to hear your views on this air purifier. I was quite shocked at how quick it was to pick up the vocs and other pollutants when I reviewed.
Great video as always
I run mine at night in my bedroom, but the air quality is good anyway, so it's a bit wasted on me. I will enjoy using the cooling effect if we ever get a summer.
I was hoping the filters would be washable but oh well i still love it
What cause it to give a error mode ( triangle symbol)
Time to take it to the dump and buy a more efficient Blueair air purifier.
Thank you for doing a dB test
Hello, I need to know if the power has the automatic voltage 110/220
This is the UK version and is designed for 240 volt supplies. The voltage will differ according to the country it is sold in.
Works for bushfire smoke in australia. Can confirm.

Hi mate, I’m in between this one and the dyson HP04 Hot+Cool. Which one you would advice me to buy? Thanks
Would you recommend this product over HP03 Hot & Cool? I mean, does this product work just the same as HP03's Cool feature or better?
Price please

Frances Bush Hope you didn’t buy it
Can I set the temperature i like or does it only blow air?
This is just an air purifier, it does not heat the air, but I believe there is now a version that does.
Does it have cctv?
Will there be a new Hot + Cool air purifier this year too with all the new updates?
I don't know I'm afraid, but it's possible.
I changed my filter but it keeps flashing filter icon how do I stop that?
Press & hold these buttons on the remote control for 5 seconds each to reset the filter life:
Oscilation: HEPA filter
Night Mode: Carbon Filter
When the machine is switched off but still plugged in it mak. Does this unit release any sort of 'glue' smell? I have read a couple reviews where the glue used in some part of the purifier can release a yeast like smell. Considering buying, but don't want a smelly purifier!
I have not experienced a smell with mine. Bear in mind that both sets of filters will set you back £100 when they need replacing.
Just got it... No smell
If only Dyson removed the "Cool" from the product name it would've been more suitable
Great video!
What are the updates this brings over the older Link model?

The Pure Cool and Pure Cool Link differ regarding connectivity via WiFi to your iPhone/iPad. That gives you more information about the changes in air quality over time and allows you to control the the functions remotely. How many hours i can use it per day without damaging it
You can run it all the time
How often do I need to change the filter?
Depending on usage three to 4 months and between £65 and £75 from Dyson only
Does it actually cool the room
No, and according to testing by Which? It doesn’t do very well at cleaning the air either.
How often do you need to change the filter? Cheers
It depends on use but it can vary between 6 and 9 months according to Dyson. The display on the fan or app will show when it needs replacing.
Mike Campbell every 2000 hours
Can you wash the filter?
No they have to be replaced at a cost of £50 for the pleated filter and £50 for the carbon filter, so £100 for the set. It’s OK though, because your purchase is helping James Dyson buy a bigger heated swimming pool for his dogs.
@@ibaisaic made in china?
@@ibaisaic hmm for me i get the entire set of filters for 696SEK wich is £57,40 today if i check dyson homepage
because ive always found it annoying how my food has a nice smell and wish to remove it
How long would u say the filters would actually last before needing replaced
mcdnldlm's gaming I believe Dyson recommends every 6 months, but you might be able to squeeze out an extra month or two.
Cool vid, do u get to keep it after u have reviewed it or do u need to send it back?
I get to keep everything I have been given to review.
How is it as a fan?
I used it in summer to provide some air movement in my bedroom at night and it made me more comfortable, but I have used regular fans that have more airflow.
Did you use it for cooling down the room?
It can't lower the temperature of a room as it's only a fan that circulates the air, but it can make the room feel more comfortable in hot weather. I have used mine using the timer setting at night when we've had some warm nights.
ibaisaic Ok thanks.
On my Dyson the motor rattles after only 2 weeks. For a such expensive unit very poor.
Can you use it with HomeKit ?
No
Cheers man .your videos are honest and very informative and has helped me choose appliances in the past.

My dyson air flow is low
"Dyson's 360 ° HEPA borosilicate glass filter automatically removes 99.95% of all allergens and environmentally hazardous substances in the air as small as 0.1 microns."
What's the size of car pollution? Do you guys find any answers
Yes, it is designed to remove pollution from vehicles.
Why does mine say 24c? How do I get it to 15 lol
Move to a cooler country.
How loud is the night mode?
The default speed in night mode is about 38db from 1M away, but you can reduce or increase the speed.
With the fan speed lower you can't hardly hear the Dyson. I love mine.
Dyson app is just useless. I could not connect to the fan
Just bought it today at bestbuy cuz its 20% off 😎
Mizz Wicked how do you like it so far?!
fans are cheap, ceramic heaters also cheap + air purifer with lcd $300 at most?
Do you like this air purifier price aside. It’s really light for an air purifier. The filters for the air cleaner I’ve been looking at weigh 9 kg alone but are expected to last 5 years with 24/7 use, or I could pay half the price on a smaller innovair air purifier, but it is noisier.
This review was very objective but do you actually like it and does the air smell fresh and pure. Other reviewers say they love the Dyson but have ended up buying 4 or 5 of them, for each room if the house I’m guessing. I’d rather one that can ultra clean a small room and can still cope with a large living room.
The air seems fresh enough but I can't tell much of a difference in my home. It seems good but I don't have any allergies so it's hard to judge.
paying 90% for the looks, 10% for functionality
For the look??? The design is stupid
How is she does with fag smoke and will she say cigarette smoke in air and how loud is she
As I'm really thinking about this 1 only
But I'm worried will b too much noise
As I live in 1 bedroom bungalow
I have the futura air purifier but in kitchen as too noisy in living room so if u could please get back too me asap plz
This seems to be advertised as an air conditioning unit.
How cool can this unit make the air?
The_ Joker
It’s nothing like a ac unit. It’s just like having a posh fan that filters the air!
I have the exact same model but, in black lol 😂
They should remove the word cool and replace it with the word fan.
Very good
run a hoover with hyper filter for a hour save a bob are 2
£50 for a filter..... lol, what a joke
It’s not a joke I can assure you, but I’m glad you found it funny.
Stephen Wakeman but you put a new filter each year so?
Try looking up the coat of a filter for a Austin air air purifier. You think $50 is expensive? Try $200
Not worth the money and feels cheap and flimsy. Also not a medical grade H13 HEPA as well.Even cheap Chinese are better.Dyson noisy as hell
Not really all that useful. Does it actually do what it claims? How does it 'cool'? Sounds like it's all buzz words and marketing.
@@ibaisaic Thank you.
@@ibaisaic Which air purifier do you recommend please?
This air purifier is a joke, get the xiaomi air purifer 2 for just gbp100. Denser more effective filtration.
That thing has a laughably thin hepa filter that sucks in just a fraction of the air.
Pure COOL but not COOL...hahaha...
Waste of money if you need it for cooling
Thinking of getting one of these, how much cooling does it give. If my room is 25°c will it cool to 21°c or does it just move the air like a conventional fan?
No, like all fans it only circulates the air and doesn't cool it, though the movement of the air does make you feel cooler when sat near to it. If you want to reduce the temperature you could get a portable air conditioner for less than the price of this Dyson fan.
No fan has Freon involved cooling capabilities. Please educate yourself on what a fan is. Also, this Dyson fan was never advertised as an air conditioner.
