The magic shop having a lot of business kind of makes sense. They're living on top of the hellmouth with a bunch of weird supernatural stuff going on. In fact, there should probably be a lot of magic shops since there has to be a lot of warlocks and sorcerers around town.

From what I remember the glow ball was left there by the monk to keep "the lady in the red dress" away, so when Buffy walks off with it she inadvertently dooms him. They cut out the scene where a raccoon picked it up and a steady wind blew it over to the chain link fence.

Buffy apparently trying to cash in on Harry Potter before Harry Potter was a thing.

Check your definition of "a thing", because I looked this up out of curiosity and found that several of the novels had already been released prior to season five. The timelines of the two are actually quite concurrent up through book five.

@@Ward3015 The first Harry Potter book was released in the UK in 97 in the US 98. Buffy's first season was filmed in 96 and aired in 97 .

Thank you. Your info agrees with my minor point of contention in support of RA here. Harry Potter was indeed firmly established before That Which Cannot Be Named showed up in Sunnydale.

9:15 Buffy in SPAAAACE It's worked so well in many other franchises, I think they missed a trick here

You think Buffy wouldve been angrier given Spike tried to kill her last episode but I guess not

The magic shop here is full to the brim at exactly the same time every week... when the yoga class upstairs gets out. And occasionally it's the only place to get a fresh/spice herb after a cooking class. Plus decent foot traffic during farmers market. Woo sells in California even if it's not an explicit reason people would go to the shop. And they tend to carry a lot of minority religion things that mean rushes for various non christian holidays.

A glowing ball? Mysterious headaches? CLEARLY the writers were inspired by the TNG episode "The Battle"
