I'd like to hear their thoughts on DS9's Duet.
about the "when it gets good", Buffy gets much better in season 2, from 1 going into 2 is the biggest step. If you do not really like it then, the other steps will not be big enough. Buffy is from a time that you would watch TV. meaning waiting a week for one new episode of content. Many series from the time period had formats making it able to enjoy a single episode out of context. Binge watching, story arcs crossing many episodes with continuous follow-ups is more recent.
the medieval initiative! So true! Even if is one of my fav seasons I agree with many many points! I think the body it's a ooak episode of tv history to be honest, regarding the topic of the ep and the hole performance from everyone
I thought the writers in season five were pretty good. The banter between the two main characters, a couple of sardonic skeptical young male hipsters, was up to the consistently high standards we were used to. They didn't lean into the cheeto's references as much as this reviewer would have liked. They are finishing the current season with the usual clipshow to save on budget.
And they've grown to over 7,500 subscribers now so their budget will be better for season 6.
The cobra was great and the 3 headed demon
I totally agree with everything Robert wishes for to see in the next season. But I highly doubt that most of it will be fulfilled.
And I really like Nick's pick for favorit antagonist, because he has good points how that was a real threat. But also laughed like Robert when he first mentions his choice.
My personal favorit episode was in fact "Fool for Love" where we got a lot of Spike's backstory. And it was also one of my favorite review episodes here, because of the Queen puns. I think that was the review I laughed the most.
So thank you guys again for another entertaining but also thought-provoking service of reviewing another season of Buffy, which was - besides Star Trek shows like TNG - one of my favorite shows at that time.
I still really enjoy this channel and look forward to every new video you two release, especially your "What We Watched" podcast. So please keep the good work up and thanks again!

I agree with the whole glory discussion sounds like the big bad in season 4 of Angel.

All I can tell you they do take it seriously in the final season.
As a person who really likes Buffy, if you disliked seasons 1-5 season 6 was considered the worst by hardcore fans of Buffy.
So it will be interesting to see your take. Maybe you'll like the direction they go? But honestly, it's the most meandering season of Buffy by far. With a few single-episode exceptions, it kind of just feels like a mess.

Buffy is a good visual aide for how casually we let people grab or manhandle their partners twenty years ago. Like the amount of times Riley puts his hands on her for no reason is alarming now.
Best episode was the body because Joyce died, which could have lead to character growth and actual change from bs romance drama to a more mature and intelligent show.
Worst episode, also the body. That moment held a promise that the rest of the season demonstrated it could not live up to. The character are not able to grow and change in any meaningful way and Buffy will always spend half the season going back and forth on "I have to live up to being a slayer" and "my current relationship is doomed I am so sad and angsty all the time, why can't I just be a normal girl and go shopping".
Unironically, Angel was the worst thing to happen to the show because it set the standard for Buffy to always be swooning after really toxic relationships.
