Thank you This song and singer have been so precious to me Born in September.... Looking like this life may have run its course Ironic its almost September
Thanks for posting this great song by Eddie Albert. I remember him singing this on a television show many years ago and was glad you provided it for me today. What a talented guy.
Yes. I barely watched TV--with unaccountable fits of immersion, during one of which I must have seen Eddie Alberts sing this. It's been with me ever since...and now September's nearly over.
Thanks for posting. I found this video after searching Eddie Albert singer. I saw his name on the credits of an old western movie and was surprised at the name of the singer. The Western movie singer's voice was deeper than the voice of this song. I remember many years ago Mr. Albert was in a war movie and convincingly played a man who became shamefully scared during battle. Later in my life I was very pleasantly surprised to learn that Eddie Albert won a well respected war medal. I know he's gone from us now, but Thank You Mr. Albery for your service to our country.
...good old Eddie! I am proud to say I own Eddie Alberts previous house in the Hollywood Hills....and I love it!! Seeing the Hollywood sign in the morning and then also when the sun goes down. Just about perfect!
Fantastic array of photographs. Eddie Albert was one of the most underrated actors ever, by the way. Get a look at the remake of "To Have and Have Not," I forget the name of it, from the '50s.
Thanks! Matching them was a bit of a challenge (not to mention a cheat-- Eddie's character is giving away the bride, not marrying her, in the 1980 film I grabbed those 2 pictures from). My respect for people who do this sort of thing a lot-- and a lot better-- has now gone up.
How interesting. I didn't know Eddie was a singer and dancer until now. I watched an Audie Murphy movie the other day and Eddie played the villain. It was called The Gun Runners, one of Audie's non westerns, based on To Have and Have Not. Also just watched some TH-cam videos of his last interviews with his son. Seemed like a lovely man. I have a signed movie brochure of Oklahoma! I acquired recently with what look like three genuine signatures, Eddie's, Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones. I loved Eddie in that movie as Ali Hakim the pedlar. Brilliant actor.
Oh yes, he also had a dramatic series in the '70s called "Switch" and an acting career, mainly in movies, from 1938 to 1997: 59 years on film, very often as a leading man. To me, his most sensationally flamboyant and powerful performance is the one I mentioned, in the remake of Hemingway's "To Have and Have Not" called "The Gun Runners," directed by Don Siegel in 1958. I saw it recently at the Film Forum in New York and he practically blew the seats out of the back wall of the theatre!
Even to his last day Eddy was the most irresistable for him to have been kept at distance because of havingpneamonia wold be impossible I would er it to go kiss his feet❤️🎂to Eddy on april22/when he was born /
Yes, that was it, "The Gun Runners." I think that was his best work. There's so much of his career I haven't seen, though. For example, in 1942, he played the lead (a boxer called the Panama Kid) in a movie called "Treat 'Em Rough," with Wm. Frawley (Fred Mertz) as his sidekick, that looks intriguing.
Thank you

I remember seeing him on Ed Sullivan show doing a song with a spoken narration in it. Perhaps it was this one.
Beautiful version! Thank you, Eddie!🍁💛🍂🧡
Thanks - this is amazing, I didn't know Eddie Albert could sing
what a great story teller Eddie Albert was, and this was totally enjoyable... 5***** all the way

+coltsuperocean10 Nice!
Awesome!
Well I hope it's getting better maintained now. I remember when Ralph and Alf Monroe used to do the work on it they would bollox everything up badly.
It's the most beautiful sunrise here this morning
Looking like it may be one of my last
God bless this world
Sorry we ruined it

Seems Mr. Albert was also an actor in the Pacific Theater!
you've matched eddie's expressions and moments so well with the words of the song! :)
I think it's great how you matched the pictures with the audio. Nice song.
(Crying)I still miss you..Eddie

@Onlymusical That's it! He's brilliant in that movie, what an outstandingly charismatic performance!
Besides his acting the song, did you notice his breath control? Impressive.

@Onlymusical -- You mean "The Gunrinners"? Eddie is a terrific villain in that, agreed.
