Taurus has really stepped it up the past 5 years or so. I wouldn't be opposed to owning and carrying one at all.
I got the G2C a few years ago, and even that's a good pistol. The double strike capability makes it a heck of a good tool overall for the money.
Saw a G2c run 147 hollow points that the G3c wouldn't. The G2c had a wider feed ramp.
The G2 is better than the G3. They had to try to reinvent the wheel.
I own 6 different Taurus 9MM and one TX22. I’ve never had any issues with any of them ever after hundreds of rounds of different ammunition. As you as you keep them cleaned and lubricated, they’re reliable and accurate pistols.
True facts 😎.
I like Taurus, i'm all for companies copying each other, it's good for the consumer. Taurus usually copies successful designs of expired patents and offers them at lower prices.
Poor Broke MF…
@@RichBoyLivingthat’s wrong not everyone is blessed. But I personally wouldn’t own a Taurus after my experience with the 856 executive grade.
Thanks bro.
The g2c and g3c are probably some of the most sold pistols ever
No argument here
Argument here
Nothing wrong with Taurus firearms, I had 8 or 9 of them, traded/sold most off but my TX-22, never had an issue with any of them. They were my budget friendly and I kept them until I could afford to get more expensive firearms. I did carry a G2C for about 3 years and my brother carries it currently.
Better to have a Tauras than nothing. If you can't afford a Tauras get a high point 👉
@@donaldwortham2409 I still have my Hi point 45 I bought 15 years ago lol
@@janneman27 I actually was poor once and all I could afford was a Taurus starting out and those 8-9 were accumulated over a few years. I own 4 CZ's they are nice shooters and are reliable. My 3 HK's and my Staccato are way better in my opinion. But all bets aside we are gun enthusiast so people like what they like and there is no reason to degrade others for their choice of personal protection.
i bought a gx4 and already had to send it back for trigger issues.
@@coryc42 I heard they had a recall on some of them, but I haven't owned one.
The ones I owned were 3 G2C's, G3, Spectrum, Taurus Model 85 Ultralite, Tx22, and a Millenium.
I’m eager for the range review. I’m not alone in saying Taurus has come a long way and love the ones I have. I bought my pops the GX4 for his birthday and he loves it. I may have to have this one. Great video as always my friend 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Gotta love that TX22 grip module very ergonomic, just feels right in my hand. Can't wait for your follow up video!
Much thanks for the update. Moving some of their facilities to the US seems to have improved the Taurus QC. Hope this one is a keeper.
Thanks for the video. I'm going to have to check this little Taurus out
Nice job again- it's basically like Sig's P365, P365XL and P365 Macro. Love my P365 & P365XL w/ Macro grip- if I didn't already have them, I would consider the GX4s for sure.
You should do a video on the Taurus TS9 (version of the BB-Tech BB6- I have one) that has quietly become available here in the USA.
In 2015 I bought a Taurus PT111 G2, basically the same as the G2C. It hasn't malfunctioned once. I shoot about 90% 122gr. cast lead round nose and the rest is 115gr. FMJ and Federal 150gr. HST "Micro" (my 9mm "carry load") which is what I keep it loaded with.
I don't carry striker fired guns, but it is in my nightstand drawer.
Excellent review and looking forward to the Range Report! Very Interested in this Pistol!
It's kind of between this and a Canik TP9 Elite for a new Carry Pistol for myself.
Great video Dan. I'm a fan of the GX4 line.
I’ve had a g2c for years and that thing just runs. I might have to snag one of these eventually.
Thanks Dan great review..i have the G2c,G3c,GX4....No issues with any of them i have GX4 its my EDC!!
Taurus seems to be a great value.
Good to see you, because I have not seen you in a while.
Love taurus. My first handgun g3 full size no issues what so ever
Need a review on Taurus’s real pistol
TS9
Please
Taurus rocks in my opinion
They certainly have stepped up and have been doing a great job the last 8 years
Thanks for the great review dan!
I still like my G3C just fine. However, given the increased terror alert status, I've been carrying my LE Trade-in G22. Thanks for the review, I wasn't really that familiar with the newest Taurus offerings.
I got the G2C early on and I like it so I never tried the G3C. They're still marketing the G2C a lot. Taurus has done a good job with the G series of pistols.
Bought a gx4 loved the feel in store. This thing jams more than a rock band.Shoots great when it fired but used 4 different ammos and on range 4 different times and jammed every time out.Back to taurus it goes hope they can fix the issues. Also i fired about 700-800 rds
I wish you would've put the 15 round GX4 Carry Magazine into the GX4XL to show how it looked. Great Video
My G3c has never missed a beat! I run 300-400 rounds through it everytime I visit the range & she still operates perfectly! Hard to beat a Taurus G series! From the pt 111, g2, g3, g3c, G4 iterations. Taurus has been kicking but & taking names!
Love that Taurus is keeping up with the market trends. With GX4 XL, I was getting my pinky pinched under recoil with 13r mags. I hope this model will resolve that issue.
I've seen a couple of videos on this one and from what others have said, it's a better feel and better grip all the way around. You might be able to order the grip if you have the XL and swap the internals
i dig my full size g3 switched from the g2c and kept the extra full size mags
I used to own a G2C and a G3C. Both were awesome handguns and I never had an issue with either of them. The GX series are reliable and also great looking guns. I appreciate a good looking firearm.
The GX4 replaced my G3C as my EDC, The GC3 has been failure free after 1500 rounds and is an great pistol. The GX4 is the better gun, excellent trigger, more compact with nearly the same capacity (i carry 13 plus 1) its more comfortable to carry and easily concealed. The GX4 is failure free too and easy and fun to shoot. The GC3 is a now a trusted house gun.
I didn't find the GX4 fun to shoot... It kept slipping my hand. I got rid of it and recently picked up a P365 SAS. The ported barrel helps, but I'm about to add an XL/X grip module that is aluminum with gas pedals. Surprisingly only $239 for the module.
I was definitely considering getting the GX4 Carry and still considering it.
I have several Taurus hand guns and love them. My G3c is my every day carry.
I don't change my G3C, I bought directly at Taurus 2 seventeen rounds magazine, it made it the perfect gun to carry.
Awesome review 😎😎.
That's a nice gun but I'm already invested in the G3 , G3c, and TH9.
I'm try to have 4 of each and maybe then I'll buy the GX4.
Tx22, G2c and now a TH9c, very impressed with Taurus. Don't regret buying em.
Great review and I also have a G3C with a night sight and four 17 round mags and a Olight and a WERKZ holster and a GX4 w/night sight and three round mags and I love them both and I will get a GX4 CARRY when my local Sportsman Warehouse gets one. Thank you
Great to hear James! Thanks for checking it out man
Great review, thanks for sharing. I drifted away from Taurus (and into Colt) 15 years ago with my wife's dissatisfaction with the PT-22 (during the first box of bullets). What a pick of junk!! So, it's interesting to watch your reviews for a product which I am unlikely to ever own. Keep'm coming!
The G3 series and the like are great.
I like it Dan!! No safety, thumbs way up. Thanks for the review Brother & shoot on!!
Not sure why I haven't commented on your video's before but they are fantastic! Keep making them and I'll keep watching!
I really appreciate that Collin
Finally! 300,000 subs! It's about time, I think you should have had at least $500,000 by now with the quality of your content.
My G3c goes everywhere I go!
And I don't go anywhere without it!
Have the Tx22 compact. It's my main CC gun. Waiting to see if Scheel's has a black Friday sale? There $420 now.
I owned a Taurus PT-111 in 9mm. Once or twice per 100 rounds I would have a failure to extract. So fired case in chamber with the next round stripped half out of the magazine and jammed by the slide up against the empty. Not a quick failure to clear.
Besides that it was great.
Nice pistol, thank You for the review
I just got an 856 Ultra Lite. Ordered a Houge grip for it.
Red dots are pointless in an emergency self defense situation imho. Red dots are primarily marketing exercises. Rifles? Ok but not these little guns. I have a Gx4 for edc. It doesn’t need anything that delays bringing it into play.
YES! 99% of shooters will never fire enough rounds to ever be proficient with a red dot. Red dots on micro compacts are absolutely ridiculous. Engagements under 10 yards, a red dot is completely worthless. This is all marketing, with the help of TH-cam influencers, to create a market that’s completely unnecessary. Thanks for your clarity!
Agree. Red dots were first introduced as an aid on rifles for hunting purposes. They have their place on the range, but in a defensive situation, if you are depending on that dot sight then you're not confident enough in point and shoot to defend yourself. 10 yards or less and you need that dot sight on your pistol? I guess I won't ever understand that.
Agreed
Ive had 2 G2cs and G3c and few revolvers, all fine dependable guns. You wont get quite the fit and finish of other higher echelon manufacterers but a dependable gun for working man.
Been waiting for reviews from big name reviewers for a month! Can't wait to see what you do with it on the range and your comical limp wrist test
thanks man, love your videos
Bought this two weeks ago and love it. Replacing my GX4 which replaced my Sig p365. Now if only I could find a holster IWB for it! I suppose they will be coming out eventually....
If you don’t wanna wait, it’s easier to find a holster if you use a weapon light on it. A lot of holsters for the p365 w/ a weapon light can fit GX4s. So if you run a TLR7 on your GX4 carry it may fit. Tier 1 also has the universal MSP holster for most guns that use TLR1s
I have several of those Ceiley cat OPTICS and I really like them they’ve been really good for me and the price is so reasonable. I know it’s spelled Seiley wrong
I was at a gun store yesterday nd I over heard a clerk talking about a new Taurus 38sp revolver coming out.
I bought my Taurus GX4 Carry optics ready on 4/16 from KY Gun just under $309. I also have a Glock 43X, they are practically the same gun only the Glock cost $460.
My wife absolutely loves her G3X. Had it 2 years i guess and never a misfire.
Waiting to pick mine up in a few days. Perfect timing. With the rebate, it was a no brainer.
Great to hear 24! Hope you love it
I don’t think the rebate is applicable to GX4 Carry.
If you haven't done it already, please review the Taurus TS9. THANK YOU.
I love them. Got the g2s and G3c
You're one of my favorite GunTubers and I'm not sure if you know or gave permission to this creator named T.A.B. videos but they have this exact video on their page. Just looking out, you do great work and you should get the credit you deserve.
Thanks for the info. TAB has been my friend for years
That looks a winner for Taurus. I like their TORO acronym. Kind of catchy LOL.
What i like about the GX4 Carry, is that it akes styling Ques from the TX22, which i believe is ergonomically superior to many... If they get their triggers to match those TX22 triggers, Taurus will be "balling".
2 years ago I bought the original GX4 and Hellcat Pro on the same day. Was surprised the GX4 actually shot more accurately in rapid fire. I think despite the Pro's reliability and build quality, it's trigger's too stiff, grip is too vertical, and U-notch sights are harder for me to acquire. So I may trade it for a Gx4 Carry.
@TheFireArmGuy hey Dan I'm curious. Do you still carry your kahr pistols for CC at all of have you pushed them to the wayside for more capacity? Im thinking of getting a PM9. Not sure if you still think its a good option for deep concealment in current year. I live in LA county so not a lot of options. I have a Glock 30 SF and Glock 26 i am looking to use. But i need something for the really hot days in SoCal. This summer we hit up to 114 degrees where i lived. I wasnt sure if i should get a kahr pm9 or maybe a Taurus 856 UL hammerless.
great video! Respect
Owned a Taurus over 20 years ago and sold it because it constantly had malfunctions, and it needed a bunch of oil to keep it running. But after seeing this video I just might consider this pistol. Been waiting for HK to come out with their micro 9 carry, but alas no pistol as of yet.
Taurus hg has come a long way... I've owned 5 and didn't have any malfunctions with them. I wasn't very fond of the original slim model and the original GX4 kept slapping my hand... I definitely wouldn't mind owning the Carry model
I’m wonder besides going to lake line llc 15 round extension will these factory mags fit a regular gx4?
I was waiting on them to make a full size 😍
the pt.111 g2 is really good also.
I don't know if you knew but the keychan has a tab on the bottom which is designed for the take down slot.
I didn't know. Look like just the keychain to me. Thanks for the information
I need this thanks a bunch 😎
So many (too many?) options! I understand there are differences between these offerings, it is just surprising to me that a company can or would bring to market options that really aren't that much different from one another. I feel the same way about certain cars as well. Does Ford really need to offer the Escape, Edge, Explorer, AND the Expedition? Plus there are three trim offerings within each vehicle! Again, I understand there are size differences, but is it really necessary? (I believe actually the Escape is being retired, so maybe that says something to this point) I guess it's really just a consumer driven market.
These shoot better than my sig! And it’s under budget! I’m definitely going to pickup this one!
Very cool man! Hope you enjoy it
I did like the trigger on the GX4. I've already made my P365 trigger better than stock and it shoots a lot better
The Carry model seems like a solid choice for sure!
Taurus has really done a great job recently with creating really reputable firearms at very reasonable costs. 👏
I sure you know but on the bottom of the keychain is a flat blade for disassembly. Have three Taurus firearms and will probably end up with more!
So, the Taurus version of a Hellcat Pro. That is cool
Ive owned 2 g3c and neither of them would feed hollowpoints. The g2cs i owned had no issues but the g3 feed ramp was way too steep everything would get caught
Nice to see an expanding list of choices. This one of not for me, though... Something about Taurus just doesn't feel "right" and I don't know exactly what
What about the drop-safety / recall issues?
Taurus never ceases to amaze.
Have you stress tested or tested that cylee cat. Ive seen g4 tactical didnt have good results. But many "unstressed" reviews paint it positively. Specifically worried about it holding zero
I was wondering if the magazines for the gx4 carry will for the gx4xl
They almost got it. Make that exact gun with a walther p99 style decocker and double action striker fire with a 9 lb trigger and it's there.
Great vids, thanks.
I would wait in 2 hours in line for that
@@TheFirearmGuy same here.
If Taurus would apply a durable finish, I would be so happy, but I still dig the hell out of a G3
I'm waiting for a long barrel duty version of this gun. This gun will look good is a long barrel
Dan how does it compare to the, G model? Thanks
How about a GX4 slide on a GX4 carry frame with flush fitting 15 round magazines? That would have made more sense to me.
Will you be reviewing the Taurus TS9? There's a few other videos out there about it, but most are in Portuguese. No big name TH-camr has spoken about it that I know of.
Another nice one
Will the GX4 XL barrel work in the smaller GX4 pistol?
Thank you.
Thanks, Walker
carrying an exspensive EDC is crazy. In the event if you're ever in a shoot situation your gun can be taken away until all cases are settled. Can take years before get it back.
NOTE: My GX4 is not part of the recall.
I bought my GX4 for my NEW EDC in June 2021 and have had 0, No, issues to this date and have run over 2900 rounds.
Wasn't looking for a firearm that was Optics ready or had a 'rail'.
I wanted a small 9mm that would be the best for self defense, concealment, yet have quality and be dependable. I wasn't going to be in any shooting competition with the GX4 as I have other firearms for that.
Purchased the GX4 at my local Scheels and got the last one in stock at that time.
Received the pinky extensions (2) for the two 11 rd mags that were included and that completed the grip for me....good to go with my pinky on board.
Of course my 13 rd mag comes with the extension.
That's all I needed to do to get the GX4 the way I wanted it on my hip...or wherever I carry it.
Recently upgraded to the Tru-Glow sights which is a great add-on over the factory sights.
Also have now a Viridian Red Laser which was an easy mount not having a rail.
Added this weekend the Hogue HandALL Beavertail Grip Sleeve specifically for the GX4 and GX4XL.
Do some have issues, sure they do. Did some Shield Plus have issues? Did the Sig P365 have any issues? Did the Glock 42 or 43 have issues? It’s a big yes to all.

Looks pretty nice. Glad they went with a grip to match the magazine instead of using the magazine as the grip. Does seem strange that most of the manufacturers jumped into the micro carry market and then pretty much all set about to making them bigger. Looks to be a fairly competitive option to the big dogs.
I'm hoping the GX4 Series is as good as the G3 series... Because I'm onto this one
Can't wait until you review the TS9
I am looking forward to that as well
They are hopin to take some of the hellcat pro pie
Taurus is making reliable affordable pistols. 7:12 Transformation is possible, and Taurus is a nicely priced.
Would have (instead) liked to see a GX4 with the thumb-safey of the G3C, as the new model....instead of a "bigger" sub-compact that now brings us closer to the size of the G3C.
Hope it has a safety
👍👍nice job Dan.
Much appreciated, Lance
I struggle to embrace Taurus after all their handgun sins through the years but that looks solid. If you're on a tight budget seems like a place to start
The past has NOTHING to do with the Future... these guns are UPGRADED...IMPROVED.. & LIGIT IMO.. Yeah under different Management & POOR QUALITY years ago they were not worth buying
How many yrs ago was that???? People act like no other firearms company had a rough start or even today “other” companies have no issues. Why don’t these perfect companies have lifetime or better warranties? Taurus stand by there firearms. Only thing I have neg to say about Taurus is that they don’t have enough CSR’s to answer the phone.
Lifetime warranties are junk if that cant fix it 4 times in a row...
Awesome video... Taurus those are from brazil right?
