I'm behind on videos so not sure if anyone told you what the translation was. It says "Happy Palatinate, God Preserve it!" on the bottom. Used Google translate app and the few words I do know in German makes sense. What app did you use to develop those negatives?
The valentines are from the mid 1960s. I recognize them! Sweet secretary full of goodies. A time capsule in itself. I think you oughta pull out the drawers and check the bottoms and in behind for things that slip out
The Cool Whip lid insert was saved for the recipe on the back. The little magnifying glass from the little shelf drawer was most likely from a box of Cracker Jack. What a fun video!!
I am blessed to have my dad's wallet, which is a miracle since he was killed by a train hitting his car in 1955, anyways it had the sales slip for the car he bought. You have your Grandmother's pay slips is a wonderful thing for you to be able to touch.
What a treasure chest! I have had that experience, going through my Grandma's desk drawers. She was born in 1889 and I don't think she ever discarded a piece of paper in her whole life. I got teary eyed watching you and remembering.....💜
I have a huge tote full of generations of photos, they all landed in my house, I can't get through them all, I start crying when I see Mom, Dad, Grandparents and Great grandparents and brothers I have lost.
Anita I understand your feelings. I had to clean my Aunt and Uncles house. I found her 1934 year book from Jr High School. It was so interesting to read the sweet thoughts of young girls, in their teen years.
My grandmother was born on 23rd October in 1895 in Harris Co Georgia she married Henry R. H. Sams on 4th September 1922 she died on 6th July 1943 at the age of 48 yrs
I'll be 73 this month & those Valentines are the exact type I gave out in grade school. So fun watching you go thru that drawer. Thanks for the memories Robert.
Some neat stuff u found there. Thnx for letting us ramble with you. Won't b long til spring is upon us & the days grow longer. Hopefully will see you rip out some wisteria roots soon. Wink wink. U know I love seeing you push over, knock down & rip up stuff. More power .. argh argh argh💪🏼👏🏼😊
Nice to see you look into the drawers.. From what I gather you have German ``God preserved Palatinate´´ cards.. Palatinate Rhineland (As it´s now knows as) is a region in Germany..
The bottom of the German photos reads, "Cheerful Palatinate, God preserve it." The Palatinate was an area in Germany that was more associated with the Holy Roman Empire. Today, the region is located around the Heidelberg area.
You have translated and explained this very very well. Great job. And in this region there is a long tradition of wine growing. The wine tastes wonderful and makes you happy 😁. Best regards from Germany
@@ep61611 Hi, I would wish it for you. There are so many wonderful places, regions an towns all over Germany. Like Bavaria, the "Pfalz" or the regions along the river Rhine and lots of others. I love my Germany, my Bavaria and I'm shure you love your America. All the best to you.
I love that piece of furniture! You are finding treasures! When I went through a cedar chest at my grandmother's, I found letters from my great great grandmother to my great grandmother written in the 1880s. You are doing a labor of love. So cool to find your grandmother's pay records and wheat pennies!
Reminds me helping grandma clean the sideboard ! She was born 1905 and kept similar stuff in hers ! She had pictures and needle packs from WWI thru the depression. Also some souvenir Fotos from Annie Oakley Wild West show ! Pictures of grandpa in a white Panama hat n zoot suit ! Never knew him to be a dandy ! 😂 Pictures of picnics in fancy dress and blankets on grass with large hampers of food . Miscellaneous things stamps and greeting cards ! Love these adventures !
@Annette Graff speaking of the white zoom suit, I found a wonderful group of pictures from the 1930s of my great aunt Lou who’s second husband they called “Doc”. He is sitting on the front steps of a big house with a white fedora, a white suitcoat & pants, smoking a a big cigar while holding the newspaper open! I don’t remember aunt Lou’s husband, but I have very fond memories of my great aunt Lou. She was a singer on the vaudeville stage in the late 1920s. I remember her in her latter years when she was “old” and quite heavy. As a child of 7-8, I couldn’t imagine her as a vaudeville singer! I wonder someday what my great nieces will think about clothing I wore in the 60s such as bell bottoms & mini-skirts! hippies and dead-heads. My my my 😅😂
@@connierifenburg9758 Yeh! Isn't that a hoot ! My grandpa was a WWI Vet He flew from Dover to the south of France Didn't talk about it but refused to get on a plane again! As I am doing more genealogy right now, I would give anything to have as much to go thru in our family. Pickings are pretty sparse here, you're so lucky. Thanks for sharing.
Good finds in the drawer Robert and the paycheck for your grandmother was a good find I imagine that the check was a lot of money to her back in those days
Hi Robert. I think the writing on those souvenir pictures is German. Perhaps the parade in the negatives is Octoberfest. You may find pictures of beer gardens and street vendors as well. Take care.
Hi Mary Wineland. I think that these negatives are from Munich Octoberfest and are Bavarien history. I hope Robert takes realy care. Friendly greetings from Bavaria, Peter

I really like that hutch, I'm a sucker for many drawers, it's a nice piece. How much fun was that. I enjoyed it. That was neat to find your grandma’s pay stubs but the best was finding those old pennies. I’m still looking for a wheat Penny. Knowing that their not that valuable but it’s still cool to have one or two. I think you need to find yourself a big wooden box n put all those things that have meaning to you. A nice treasure box.
