Kelly, We have been following your journey since you started back in Georgia and we do enjoy them. We do have one request. When you video different spots along the trail, such as plaques, statues, lakes, cities, etc... let us know what they are. We know that for security reasons you can't tell us everything such as dates, etc.. but sometimes when you watch the videos the viewer is not really sure what they are seeing. Keep the videos coming and good luck. We'll keep watching.

Thanks for sharing, brought back many memories, I stayed at graymoor in 2012. Looks like they made some small upgrades. I remember enjoying a shower even though it was cold, lol.

Kelly I watched a young lady sobo she saw her first bear at the zoo then in NJ she seen 3 more.
It's always crowded on weekends in the summer. Mostly working-class families that need a break from city life in the cool mountains/pool/zoo. I love Bear Mountain, but I try to hike only on weekdays ... I like my serenity and alone time away from the city. Bear Mountain has large x-country track meets in the Fall and Snowshoeing in the Winter. Lots of history in that area and not too far away from West Point Academy.
For anyone hiking the AT who is thinking about taking a side trip to NYC, my advise would be to get off the trail at Bear Mountain and hike South through Rockland County.

@@frolege1 Absolutely, there is a train station very near Bear Mountain, as well as a bus stop at the base of the mountain that goes to PA Bus Terminal on 42nd St. The bus takes about 2 hours. So yeah, for anyone hiking the AT who wants to visit NYC, Bear Mountain is where you want to leave the trail.

I've seen hikers go through there on July 4th before where there was only room for single file through the park and the zoo! Watching the video of it gave me high anxiety, haha. Really crazy after virtual solitude in the woods I would think.
Glad you're not alone....they think that Brian Laundrie is on the AT...not sure where but they have said that so be very cautious!!!!
