Hi, I love your fake cake and cupcake tutorial. I actually made fake cupcakes for props, but after a few months the spackle cracked. Any tips on how to prevent this? Also, when they dry they don't look shinny but kind of dull so I sprayed them with clear acrylic. Thanks for sharing your talent! I hope you see my message and provide some tips to avoid cracked spakle.
Monica Lim Hi!My cakes are not shiny either but I just leave it that way!The only time I’ve seen a cake crack was after it dried the ,I’ve never had any crack months after and most times there is no cracks .But when it does crack I just fill in the cracks with the leftover spackle:)Maybe hold on to your leftovers just in case they crack again later down the road !Maybe the sealer has something to do with the cracks too ?Hope I helped you !❤️

I have a ? For you. How do YOU MAKE FAKE CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES with spray foam? Do you let the natural color of foam rise till dry and then paint top with some color of chocolate (brown)? and if a color of brown what color of brown would you use? I really need your expertise. I have been thinking and rethinking the process over and over in my mind and still am not sure how to do this. PLEASE HELP! ASAP!!! Thank you for your advice.
Sherry Monscour Hi! Yes make them the same way I showed you in the video and paint them brown! I use burnt umber for the brown colour!Happy crafting!❤️
Can you store your left over frosting ? Do you store it in the piping bag or how? In all the videos I have ever watched, no one tells you what to do with the left over stuff. I don't want to throw it out, but don't know how to store it. Please tell us???? thanks, I appreciate the videos and can't wait to try this.
upwards 11 Yes always store it in containers! No spackle will ever get wasted that way ! If it’s stored a long time just add a little water to the mixture!
I made a chocolate cake. It was beautiful until it dried. It lost its gloss. Can I spray it with a glossy clear spray, or should I frost over the brown with a different color after its cured?
