Waterfowling in Washington with Jason Phelps | S1E05 | Duck Lore

  • Sitting at the top of the Pacific Flyway in Washington is a duck hunter’s dream; liberal limits, lots of public land, and no shortage of ducks and geese. In this episode of Duck Lore, it’s mid-November, and Sean is joined by Jason Phelps of Phelps Game Calls, and Trevor Austin of Pacific Calls. This is Sean and Jason’s first time hunting this area, and Murphy’s Law does its best to keep them from getting on the ducks and geese.

The only part of this series that i miss is that there is no cooking segment, other than that it's great!

100% agree, so many great duck recipes out there that a lot of people have the wrong impression about those great tasting birds.

The cooking segments are always nice. In my opinion, watching this guy practice his expertise (I use that word loosely here as "expert" would describe no person I have ever seen duck hunt) is just as enjoyable and watching Jean-Paul practice his expertise (not so loosely used here) cheffing stuff up.
Both guys have put in their years to nail down what they are most interested in, and I am SO glad that they are contributing to the MeatEater network. I've enjoyed both of their content and hope that one day they can tag-team a video where they go kill and cook a bunch of birds.

@@Johnjones70 yes they are. I believe they cooked coyote one time which was the most intriguing thing I've seen eaten.

Born and raised in Wisconsin on the Mississippi; I remember being in my mid teens, having just bought a used bow, but duck season opened one weekend prior. Needless to say, I went out with duck hunting pro friends of mine, and have been hooked ever since. It wasn't until I moved to Montana at 30 that I actually started bow hunting, mostly due to the lack of ducks (compared to Wisconsin.)
