I scream NO NO every time you dump a pan! I want to look through it to see the stones! Love pretty stones, odd shaped ones , different colored ones and strange ones. I want them all. Maybe that's why my husband won't let me out of the van. Lol

I go looking for agates most of the time when I'm by the waters here in Tacoma Washington. My grandpa was my rock finder when I was growing up. I turned 66 in 2022. Life's been great 😊 for my family. I am really looking forward to your adventures this year. Today is Feb. 21 so spring is less than a month away. We have had a very mild spring here in northeastern PA right along the Susquehanna River. We had a thunder storm, with lightning and small hail today and it's just weird winter weather. The ground isn't even frozen yet and it would appear that our climate is indeed changing. Anyway, can't wait to get out with you this year. I'm 73 years old and having trouble getting around but I can still go on adventures with Dan Hurd!!

Not sure if it’d be worth it for ya Dan, but I suggest checking out your local scuba/dive shop and seeing what they can offer for warm gear that’ll help a ton when you go out panning in weather like this. Many shops sell amazing high quality neoprene wetsuits, booties, gloves, hoods, etc that would surely help you stay warm on days like this. I work at a dive shop in WA and it’s not uncommon at all for people who work in the rivers around here to come in for that exact reason!
Right on dan that first pan was excellent. I try to mine all winter . Like u said low water reveals the best gold. I get my best gold in winter. Idaho has main roads next to all the main rivers so I never have to hike far through the 5 feet of snow.. with that much gold u should bring a bucket and speed pan down to just cons then dump in buckets then bring home and run over clean up sluice. You could do super good

This came up in my feed and I'm hooked,My Grandfather was a Miner/Geologist ,He Ran the Morningstar Mine in the now Protected Mojave Preserve in SouthernCalifornia, nothing like seeing that sparkle or that quartz you know its close.I spent many a summers working at that mine as young kid,nothing like the butter softness of pure gold.
Dan thanks for the GLOTD. Also I use a Garrett Super Sluice pan here in N California and have been for 5 years now prospecting for exercise and a fun hobby. Next time try tilting the pan more perpendicular while the gold along with black sand settle in the two deep crevices. Then classify while letting water bring black sand out and gold stays in. Much much less sand to deal with when revealing the gold. Not sure why every video from everyone shows so much sand with the gold. I know I don’t lose gold doing it this way. Thanks Again👍

I think the glaciers helped flatten some of that Gold. There was soooo much Gold in those pans I thought classify it down to 1/4 or 1/2 and fill up all the buckets take them home. :)
Can u imagine if u could dredge the Fraser River wow u would do quite well,the paystreaks down the middle of the river i bet are loaded with gold. I think this is my favorite river in Canada i would like to work,that and the NSR.

flat flakes; can also be formed by gold being pushed into a crack. i have a buddy that has a flake about 3" long x 1.5" wide and maybe 1/16" thick...it is rough looking like it was pressed between two rocks in a crack. beautiful looking flake. yep, i"m jealous!!!

Dan, if you ever get a wild hair, you should go down to Southern California and go check out the beaches around San Diego.. I've seen MASSIVE agates in the rocks in people's videos where the ocean is eroding the host and 12 inch plus agates are just sticking out all over the place. I don't know if you could collect them or even if they'd be worth anything but it would be a good video for you to make and I'm sure Dana would enjoy a trip to the SoCal beaches.

It's coastal so even though it's pretty high latitude bc has pretty mild weather
