I remember once I was Drunk, returning from my friends home. it was Dusk, I was Driving 2008 Wagon R LXI. Traffic was moderate, I was chilling around 60 kmph. A red Suzuki swift was taking U-Turn, from my right to left side. Driver with two kids and Driver's Wife was in the Swift. When The lady in the red car saw Wagon R coming to almost about to hit their car on the left rear. She freaked out and almost Died, Our cars was so close to be in fatal accident. so close, so much close that I can see her facial expression of " Oh God, we are coming to you, please bless us" . I don't know How I turn the steering so quick and so precise, but that accident was avoided some How. If both cars collided that day. that was very bad situation for me. Worst for a family in that car. After that Day I never ever Drunk and Drive. Either party at my Home or at my friends Home. But no drink and drive. Stay where You are after consuming alcohol. Edit : So I wrote about this incident about why moose test is necessary and why cars should perform well in this test. Because this incident was like a exam of moose test, Non of you guys ask about moose test performance of Wagon R LXI 2008. But start discussing Alcohol Brand, few of you suggest alcohol causes fluent reaction timing. But forgot may be if I was not drunk , This compromising situation wouldn't be there at all . So about moose test drive, cars performance is heavily influenced by driver inputs ( braking, Steering ), Input sensitivity, Tyre and Air Pressure in tyres and on Physical Dynamics of car. So That 2008 wagon R passed the moose test situation very well.
So this is why Tata cars end up with more accudents. Better handling/confident is more important than the star rating. Almost all auto journalists agree with this point.

It has nothing to do with Suzuki or Mahindra but ground clearance. Swift is a hatchback with less ground clearance and less length so the body roll will be less. Jimny has more body roll than the Swift. A Tata Tiago will perform similar to the swift. Only difference, replace the VLC players with concrete wall and if the swift hits it during the test , it's squashed watermelon.
In the end, the Jeep wrangler, man although it was so big it is just amazing to see how amazingly it performed compared to smaller ones like Thar & Jimny!

I don't restrict my speed to 60 km at all times.when an open stretch is seen it is pedal to metal.the point is car tests should include moose or slalom test also as part of testing.
We buy road vehicles and not go carting vehicles nor dash cars like in essel world. I was interested Mahindra Thar ... eeeks ! ... Jeep Rubicon ... wow ! ... but again to be fair both were tested on two different tracks/tests ... would've been nice to see both were compared on the same test/track.
Mahindra SUVs love to topple over. Scorpio classic is tall and narrow, tends to topple over when suddenly changing lanes at high speed. Then there's Thar. Thar 3-door is sub-4 meter SUV with very tall height. That's why it performs poorly in this test. A tall SUV needs proper width between wheel track and proper length to maintain stability. That's why ScorpioN, Safari Storme, Fortuner, Endeavour are all stable SUVs. Scorpio classic and Thar 3-door are death on wheels. Even the Wrangler 3-door is 4.3 meters in length.
Swift performed exceptionally well , Thar's performance was worst, now you can understand why thar has so many accidents. It is very unstable at high speed. It was designed as offroad vehicle but people use it as city car.
In my opinion , They have high ground clearance and are prone to rollovers. They drive as fast as those sedans and hatchback in the highway, so it is more necessary to test them than those low centre of gravity cars. Even if they fail the moose test, it's still a good test to know if it's prone to rollover.
Heres my story of real world moose test: vehical: honda amaze 2020 model. Im from india, ap. I am driving and my dad is sitting next to me. Its on a 40 feet bypass road, we are traveling at near about 70-80 km. Suddenly a paseenger bus coming head-on and i swiftly took left and steered it back to right, to my shock down is a slide dragged me below road level if our grip is poor we would have ended in a water cannal. Luckly i have controlled the car and got the car back on road. The next movement we both were shocked and to my dads surprise i said to him that this vehical is not producing enough pickup. Though its a coverup i made. My dad litterly felt frustrated and said to drive slow in a commanding tone. From then onwards i started to drive safe and maintain safe distance between vehicles.. thank god that was so immature and at the same time so much exciting that i had the best save.
These kinds of test basically emulate the kind of scenarios you would face even in city roads when you weave in & out of the traffic in a brazen attempt to overtake. This effect is obviously more pronounced at higher speeds where you would lose control & topple over..... Thar is most likely to topple over due it's high CG. Stay away from such vehicles trying to do these kinds of tricks on the road. They would cause lot more collateral damage.

Suzuki failed the test since skid cannot be considered. I guess the contact patch is too small and it would need more tyre width for moose test. All the vehicles have a lower tyre width except the Nexon.
These tests should mandatory in India because it’s unfair for Tata cars to score 5 star rating according to their cars because they still feel unsafe while driving on highway.

Thar's performance is very dangerous. Toyota Hilux also faced the same issue but they fixed it . Mahindra should start working on it and learn a thing or two from TOYOTA.

New Scorpio-N felt very stable for a big SUV. And Kudos for Nexon for awesome performance for a compact SUV. It felt better than Ecosports finally.

Don't look at the moose test of Euro spec vehicles and consider them equivalent to Indian spec cars.
If you try that with Indian spec Swift for example, things will end badly for the car.
